Oh crap. Our national team ended up in a group with Italy, France and Romania for Euro 2008 soccer championships. Not good.

I know France and Italy were in the World Cup finals, but how well does Romania play? I don't think I've ever seen them play.
galaxygirl- 12-02-2007
Romania and Holland were also together in the qualification round. My dad just told me that it was 0-0 in Holland and 1-0 in Romania. I haven't seen Romania play for along time.

Well, that part doesn't sound TOO bad. The Italy and France part, on the other hand... I wish your team luck, Geege.

DOB, you'd better never meet my friend Melody's grandparents' house. They have a room where EVERYTHING is 49ers. Even the carpet and wallpaper.
(My friends and I ran screaming out of that room. It was funny. :) )
I would get along just fine with Melody's grandparents, who are no doubt tearing their hair out just like me over the Niners woeful play.
Perhaps this is the way to motivate these guys - public humiliation in the HHOW forum. They have now scored a couple of TDs and are only trailing Carolina by 3.

Sorry, DOB. I was trying to be witty. *fail*

The way they've been playing lately maybe having some renowned opponents is just what they need. Motivation seemed to be painfully lacking these last few games.
And looking on the bright side, if they get kicked out in the first round, it could mean I won't have to watch soccer games on a big screen somewhere in Greece this summer. Those kind of things tend to get so embarrassing with loads of Dutchies all decked in orange.
galaxygirl- 12-02-2007
My dad doesn't even manage to get through an entire game of the national team anymore and that's saying a lot. He says they play that boring and unmotivated.
jonne- 12-02-2007
It's totally frustrating to see a team with so many great, talented players perform so far below par.
I believe Marco must go back to his golf-course and resume the status of 'soccersaint', never to show his face again.

I never understood why he got the job in the first place. He had no previous experience as a coach at all and neither had his assistant. I'm still confused why he all the sudden wanted to be a coach to begin with, he never expressed any desire to do so, unlike Rijkaard and Gullit for example.

I gave blood today *is proud*
I'm not often in any sort of clinical setting so took the opportunity to contemplate House while lying there with the needle in my arm. House who couldn't get a job in a bloodbank :)
I've given blood loads of times before but (with House on my mind, ho hum) was really struck for the first time while doing all the paperwork how ultra-strict the rules are about homosexuality. You can't donate if you're a man who has *ever* had sex with another man *even* safe sex with a condom. Or indeed if you're a woman who's had sex with a man who's had sex with another man, etc. I guess they have their reasons but it seems like cutting out an excessive proportion of the population to me...

No, I'm sorry. There is no funny/witty for me anymore on Sunday afternoons. :(
Let's see now, only two months until spring training starts.

Nooooo
I'm so happy I'm not a baseball widow at the moment, don't say things like that unexpectedly.

If it makes you feel better, you can't donate in the US if you've spent 6 months or more in the UK during the reign of mad cow mania.
So that's gotten me off the hook for donating blood.
I'm not sure if that restriction has been lifted yet or not but I've been unable to join the bone marrow donor registry for the same reason.

The Tin Man Anyone watch "Tin Man" on the SciFi Channel? It's an interesting re-imagining of the Wizard of Oz.
The lead actress is Zooey Deschanel who I think is Emily Deschanel's sister. Emily is the lead in "Bones".
The strangest part is that Zooey sounds exactly like Emily (only with less inflection) and so that's what keeps going through my mind when I watch so I guess I'm not really impressed with her.
