I had to take Darvoset for about six months last year, and I remember coming down with one day what felt like the stomach flu. It happened to be a day that I wasn't in pain and didn't take the stuff - it wasn't the stomach flu, it was withdrawal and I was SICK. I did take one to quelch it, but it only helped a little.
Then, after I had been on it for awhile it seemed to effect my swallowing reflex and I developed aspiration pneumonia (via the painkiller or another med I was on).
I will say one thing - it was an interesting med. It didn't hit me like Vicodin did, I didn't sleep, but I was definitely loopy and acted as if I had been drinking until my body adjusted to it.
Silja, I know that FA is Football Association (I think), and Hiddink must be a coach, but I'm now lost beyond that. I've watched different national teams and have heard of many other teams, but I don't recognize the names of players (other than, "He's cute. Who is he?").

Just want to agree with whoever complained about the stupid adult swim ad. Do they have the most obnoxious ad agency ever? I will never ever watch whatever that is. Yes, we get it: cat got your tongue or cat caught your tongue or french kitties or whatever. Enough! /rant
Sadly for me, Vicodin=sleep, yet no pain relief.

There are times painkillers have worked wonders for me and times that they've just dulled the pain. Give it a chance, and remember, there will always be someone online somewhere.

God, yes. That ad creeped me out and made me leave.
But have fun. Everything is better on the Vic! Unless you pass out from it -
I took Vicodin once when I tore some cartliage (sp?) (I always refer to it as the lobster in my knee) Anyway, my experience was that it did absolutely nothing to stop the pain, except it made me not care so much that I was in pain. I then took Excedrin and the pain went away in 20 minutes. Go figure.

I am so mad. I just saw an infomercial where they were showing off this vaccuum cleaner that supposedly can suck up anything, and they sucked up a 500 yen piece to show you how awesome it is. 500 yen equates to about 5 bucks. If they were really going to give 5 dollars away, they should give it to ME.

good stuff? Jeez, I've discovered an unopened container of Vicodin that had gotten shoved to the back of the medicine cabinet several years ago. It's from one of my many painful, expensive dental visits no doubt, but I never actually tried it. How long does this stuff stay good/potent? I must admit I'm curious to do a little research.

Gee, do they give out this stuff like Tic Tacs? I've never gotten a prescription for anything stronger than Tylenol #3 (with codeine). But I have pretty high pain tolerance. Even when I had 2 wisdom teeth pulled on the same day I only took 2 of those during recovery.

I'm amazed that you know them gg. I truly am. And I'm sorry to hear about Jol. Well, at least you've qualified to Euro 2008.
I'm secretly hoping for Klinsman but it looks as if it might be *shudders* Mourinho.
Ah yes Silja I remember your opinions on Mourinho 8)
From the frankly rather short list of possibles being mooted, I too would like to see Klinsmann manage England *remembers his time at Spurs very fondly*

I don't know about TicTacs, but they gave me a prescription for 30 Vicodin, plus 30 600 MG ibuprofen. (and penicilan) And the only real pain I've had is a headache from the numbing agents. Of course those needles were the only pain I had during the extraction as well. I asked why I was being given two kinds of painkillers, and the nurse said the Vicodin was for "breakthrough" pain. How much breakthrough were they expecting with a prescription for 30?

Heh. Not as far as I know. In my case, I'd pulled a muscle in my back so it was either that or I'd be curled up in the foetal position of the nearest convenient flat surface. It did its job well though - but didn't make me high or loopy in the least. I was a bit disappointed by that.

How much breakthrough were they expecting with a prescription for 30? If you have drug coverage, part of that is because of the co-pay. If they gave you 10 and you ended up needing another 10, that's two co-pays. Plus the regulatory agencies probably look closer at refills than they do at an individual prescription even if the total # of pills isn't any greater.

There are days when I really enjoy working for a smaller, more eccentric company.
The CEO just sent out an email to everyone alerting us that Evel Knieval had died and that he'd like a moment of silence from all of us. Um....okay. In the meantime, it's been requested that I dig through old photos to find a snap of me on my EK dirt bike from 1978.
