I see mine every once in a while. Last time was yesterday afternoon when it ran behind some storage thingies under my bed.
How can there be no charges against the parents? That is just so completely, utterly wrong.
I'm in Alberta, we've been rat-free for over 50 years now.
I read that story about the MySpace death, it's horrible. What is wrong with those people, that they would do that?
Now this guy is the one that should have starred in 'Ugly'. That poor man but God, I literally felt sick to my stomach after seeing those photos. I hope his doctor is right and he can be helped.

Happier Topic - HAPPY THANKSGIVING Just in case you are leaving for the airport soon, I wanted to say "Happy Thanksgiving" to everyone.
Here's hoping you all have great holidays, that family clashes (if any) are silly and easily dissolve into funny stories and memories and that all of you get to see Hugh in great spirits at the airport or, perhaps, even seated next to you, in the mood to tell wonderful stories about House, Stephen and life in general through the entire flight and throughout the airport experience!
:D

I'm avoiding making pie right now :D
I have to make two apple pies and I absolutely fear it. Any time someone says 'easy as pie', I cringe. It's the pie dough - that's the problem. Sometimes it works out great: I can roll it out, get it in the pan, cook it - it's perfect. But sometimes - For No Reason! - it just... fails! I have no idea why. Everything looks the same, I add the same stuff, do exactly the same thing. And, yet... Aaarrrrggghhh! The dough just crumbles, breaks, and makes me go completely insane.
When the Fail happens, I tend to start throwing dough around the kitchen. And my dogs have a great Thanksgiving.

I use the Pillsbury ready crust. You don't even have to roll it. It's my mother's "recipe." And my grandma used it too, back when it was only in stick form. (And outside of "Top Chef," does anyone really care if it's homemade?)

In my experience it has to do with the temperature and type of lipid you use. The best result comes from adding the lipid above the transition temperature and then cooling it to below before handling the dough /biophysics geekery.

I do the NYC thing and go out to dinner. No muss, no fuss. I cooked last year and when I was done the state of my kitchen would have made the Baby Jesus weep.
I spent the whole day and evening in the kitchen while everyone else watched movies and had a grand old time. I ate (while standing) in between running back and forth between the kitchen and table. I now have a new appreciation for family Thanksgivings past and the efforts that went into them.
And that is why this year, when I thought of Thanksgiving, the only thing I wanted to make was...reservations. :-)

I love pie. Pumpkin pie is soooo good. And I'm so jealous of you guys! I'm Canadian, our Thanksgiving was ages ago.

Wow. It would be good to have a break in that case. It's been a long time.

Three someones, now. And CNN is back to saying "the disappearance of," not "the murder of,"... I was wondering how they could get away with saying they killed her without a body. Hopefully they can give her family some closure now.

My mom used to try to teach me how to make a good pie crust. Hers were like butter, flaky, light, incredible. :)
Mine were...well, let's just say, cardboard was a step up.
She would tell me "You have to touch it without touching it" She would get very zen about it.
Whenever I taste a great crust, I smile thinking about our times in the kitchen.

houserocket7 and blue, how do you make the crusts? Because it's not that hard if you do it by hand with a fork and work in the water and butter/margarine a small square at a time (room temperature, otherwise it will feel like clay). Every pie I've made has been made that way, and it's the only crust I'll eat (and I roll it out as thin as I can and fold it over as well, more like filo than pie dough).
