Does anyone know if those electric ultrasonic noise emitter thingys they sell at the hardware store actually work? Because my four-cat problem isn't doing much against my mouse problem....?

The mice must all be moving inside this weekend. Just last night I saw a mouse in my attic bedroom and refused to go back in there. I made the Mister retrieve my pillows and blanket and put out the mousetraps that I told him to install in the garage a month ago. Then I was forced to spend the entire night in the Mister's room. I don't mind going to bed with him, but I never stay there because he is impossible to sleep with. Needless to say, I got a crappy night's sleep and am really cranky on account of it. I will be so happy when Mickey is dead and I can get a good sleep again. DEATH TO THE INTERIOR RODENTS!!!

Oh, and also, if I complain to the landlord about the mice (which my cats seem mildly interested in but...not really) and he puts out poison and then my cats catch the dying mice and...er...nibble on them, will my cats be poisoned?

Anyone else have any problems with critters in their attic? I don't have an attic. They're in my room. *twitch* I can't sleep anymore becaise I think they get stuck from time to time and make these really loud scratching noises against the wall or the floor or something.

I think most rat/mouse poisons are still made of warfarin and that can hurt your cats, too, if they get enough of it. Most cats don't care about things that are already dead, though. I know mine always lose interest as soon as their toys 'break'.

Does anyone know if those electric ultrasonic noise emitter thingys they sell at the hardware store actually work? I never had any luck with those. I don't use poison either. I use sticky traps.

I want it out of my room, but I don't want to kill it.

fffaw- 11-19-2007

They make humane mousetraps. You catch 'em and then release them outside. Granted, they will probably find a way back in, so it makes sense to release them a distance from your house. http://apartments.about.com/od/cockroachesmicepest1/ht/liveTraps.htm

They're in my room. *twitch* I am not going back into that room until I am sure that Mickey is gone. I may still twitch for awhile after that.......

Not to be a complete killjoy, but I read this article today and I have to say that I am just astounded by the pure evil as demonstrated by this "adult" "parent." And to top it all off, they had the freaking gall to file a police report for the broken foosball table.

radiosweetheart- 11-19-2007

Oh man, I read that story Saturday. That adults would do something like that and then act as if it was justified. It disturbs me to think about what today's 13 year olds are going to think is acceptable behavior. Mom and Dad stalked someone online and got away with it, it must be OK for me to do it.

I read somewhere that mice despise the smell of peppermint essential oil, and a few drops around where they congregate is supposed to help. I feel your pain, HTR. I hear them in the wall by my head every single night!

You guys and your wall-mice are giving me nightmares. I swear that single mouse will keep me out of my bedroom for days (weeks?). How long can I stand the couch, or Mr. Nursy's tossing and snoring? We have an air bed........ Maybe I should get out the pump (no, WAIT! That is on the floor!) The mister helpfully points out to me that mice can jump 3 or 4 feet into the air. The couch it is, then!

My husband has such a dislike for rats mice etc that one day I came home from work to fin the linen closet torn apart and the washing machine going. He had seen a mouse run into the closet and tore the closet apart trying to find and kill it and then was so disgusted with the mouse that he had to clean everything in the closet. The little bugger got stuck in the office wall and my cat would sit for days and stalk the wall trying to get to it until finally it died(the mouse not the cat, the cat is fat and happy in Virginia).
