I want to be a moderator on a website so I can randomly delete people's posts.
Can someone explain to me when in posting something that is within the community rules on LJ, generates discussion and is in no way inflamatory or cruel a mod sees fit to delete it?
aithlyn- 11-17-2007
TrooperCam, I'm not sure what community you're talking about, but some of them are run by some really crappy mods.
I actually came in here to squee really loudly about something that was said in this week's ep. I'll put it under spoiler tags in case anyone hasn't watched it. --> When Wilson said House was a Wiccan, I almost fell off my couch. There have been so many mentions, especially this season... I am seriously wondering who is on the writing team!

aithlyn, I thought about you the second time I watched it. It would be cool but it could also be a running joke of sorts. Either way, it's squee-worthy.
Troops, I have no idea. We all know how horrible mods can be. I assume LJ is no different.

If you're bitching about me, Troops, I had to delete a Hall of Fame nomination thread that someone put up on Housefic_Meta on their own -- when our policy is to have mods post the threads to control the process (and the author of the fic requested that it be taken down). And the nomination is going through the regular process now.
If it's about somebody else, I have no idea.

Welcome back and glad you got a shout out.

Stephen Fry's latest blog is pretty important reading especially for those folks with PCs. If you don't know what a botnet is, you might want to find out!

Actually I don't go to the HOF all that often mostly because I forget it is there. I am talking about the mod for Customers_suck. I posted a suck from my Taco Bell days and the mod deleted it even though all my co-worker, myself and three-quarters of the people who witnessed what happend thought ti was a sucky thing. The real kicker is the mod has a link that says leave messages for me and I will get back to you
Yeah, not so much on that front

Troops - try Bitter Waitress They've been down for a while due to a database revision (and it looks like they haven't finished transferring most of the stuff) but it's a hoot. You can submit stories and, when it's fully loaded again, try searching for Jennifer Lopez. (I had no opinion of her at all until I saw about 5 stories there on how she treats waitresses.)
They also have links to some other places you can bitch about customers in the food service industry.

Ooooh, now we're talking *rubbing hands in glee*

Can I just rant a little bit about what's driving me batshit crazy at the moment? It's mice. Or squirrels. Or, god forbid, rats, that are currently having a party in my attic. Yes, I know it's getting cold outside and I'm certain that my attic is a warm respite for them, but for the love of god! I am having these horrible visions of them up there chewing through everything, soiling the rafters, ruining all the insulation. I'm thinking that having to call pest patrol is some sort of sign of adulthood. Ugh. I'd rather skip that sign.
Anyone else have any problems with critters in their attic? And, besides taking a shotgun to them, what do you do?

I hear coumadin works. ;) That or a cane shaped object.

I had the same problem with something scrabbling around and chewing and nesting in there. So I opened the trap door and released my cats into the attic for a few hours. Judging from the sounds that followed, they had a wild time up there. The noises stopped - I assume whoever was making them was eaten

Heh. I've thought about that. I definitely had a mouse problem inside the house until I got my cat. (Now I have a cat problem.) But in the grand scheme of things, he's actually kind of a small cat. What if whatever's in the attic is bigger than him? It could get really ugly. I'm trying to figure out if Barnum would be really annoyed that I sent him up there to rid the attic or if he'd think it was a field day.
radiosweetheart- 11-19-2007
If your Barnum is anything like my Al he'd probably just get annoyed and scowl at the critters.
But the cat solution is as good of an idea as I can come up with.
