Hail the Random- 11-08-2007

RN's got a point. Would you rather be watching or working in 30ยบ temps?

cindylouwho- 11-09-2007

It's cold here in Boston too. And considering 2 1/2 weeks ago I was still wearing sandals I was unprepared for this cold, and had to go buy gloves yesterday.

Jouse- 11-09-2007

It was raining here today  I can't stop sniffing the air.

Hail the Random- 11-09-2007

Erg. I have an 8 AM soccer game tomorrow.

chickleta- 11-10-2007

It's snowing! Wet, soppy snowing, yes, but snowing just the same!

Taiga- 11-10-2007

Norman Mailer died.

Gotta love Iowa. It's 31F, feels like 20F right now. It's only early November. Have you gotten to the "Pfft, tornado, whatever" stage? Because that's how you know you're a real Iowan :)

Because that's how you know you're a real Iowan :) LOL, oh no, tornadoes still scare me shitless. Mr GG's reaction is exactly like you say lol. I'm all like "shouldn't we, you know, hide somewhere" and he's like " if that tornado gets here I'll see it coming through the window and then we can go to the basement".

It doesn't hurt that I have a hyperdrive sense of adventure, but growing up there, living through the winters, summers, flood of 93, etc, what's a few swirling clouds? Crack open a beer and watch on the porch until it's a half-mile away. I'm so spoiled being in New York now.

March301- 11-10-2007

Tornadoes still scare the crap out of me and I'm a midwesterner by birth (so sue me; I fell in love with The Wizard of Oz when I was two), but in college it seemed I was getting evacuated all the time in the fall. After that, it was kind of like, "Meh." I've never actually been in a tornado, although I've survived some pretty nasty weather. The sirens go off all the time, but mostly it's just a false alarm for me. :)

RNwannabe- 11-10-2007

Crack open a beer and watch on the porch until it's a half-mile away. Oh, yes! Wild nights are my glory!! If you take proper refuge, you will likely survive. And 99.9999% of the time it won't hit you. I have only really been close to a handful of tornadoes (I am in Chicago now, so we don't get much), but every one of them was an adrenaline rush I can feel to this day. And yes. I have driven out to get closer once or twice. My husband (who grew up in Tornado Alley in Kansas) and his parents used to drive out to the big hill outside of town when the weather kicked up to see how many twisters they could spot. I would love to live back in that area just for the storms, but there is no sushi and they don't believe in evolution, for the most part. Ah, the trade-offs we make in life. I just ordered tandoori to be delivered to my house, so I guess that beats a good storm. Tomorrow I think we'll hit Mama Desta's for some Ethiopian food. God, I love this town!

TrooperCam- 11-11-2007

I used to love living in Tennessee and having the storm a half mile outside the door, teh alarms going off and the stations in Nashville not broadcasting anything until it got closer to the metro area. By then it was like "duh way to warn your viewers." The real suck was they would break programming to track every.single.minute of the storm So my DVD Burner comes with Nero and Toast, the description for Nero lists eeverything the program does. The one for Toast not so much :)

Jouse- 11-11-2007

So I might be moving to London sometime this year :D

hwshipper- 11-11-2007

Woot! How comes, Jouse? Work, family, just fancy a change?...

Silja- 11-11-2007

Please join us Jouse. The weather is horrid but the people are...eh...don't bite. Much. And that will make *counts* 4 London HHoWers (that I know of).
