sasmon,
There's a discussion there as to why the conversation has dried up. I know it's been addressed on a thread in this forum, but there, they're blaming it on the lack of things to discuss. I think it's that nearly everyone's either gone or doing minimal postings.
I PM'ed that person about the whole situation. I couldn't believe how she responded. Apparently if people are unwilling to remain active on both boards (if possible), that's evidence for the "declining quality" of this season. Huh?
I still read and very rarely post at that other place, mainly because I really like a few of the members. marty118, especially. But he hasn't posted in a week, so I'm worried.
What really ticks me off, though, are that the only really active people left on the boards there are the most obstinante, argumentative people. How does that work?
No matter how much one poster seems to dislike the show, she'll still post, repeating the same points ad nauseum. It boggles my mind that she hasn't been banned yet, because she's frequently very rude as well.

I miss some TWoP people too, like Lizzim, but almost all the cool people have migrated over here now. And Namaste, getting a warning for editing your post blows my mind.
Last year when my Dad was sick, the doctors weren't even communicating with each other
That's kind of what happened with my cousin. They were trying to figure out why she kept losing blood, so she was sent to a bunch of doctors. Somehow the x-ray showing masses in her lungs got "lost in the shuffle", meaning the report was just ignored by every subsequent doctor.

Taiga, my sympathy to your aunt. I really think your aunt's family should sue the original doctor who forgot to tell her about the cancer. Not because I think money will in any way compensate her, but to help other patients this idiot will treat in his career. He needs to understand that there are consequences to being so careless. Apparently the consequence of having patients die unnecessarily doesn't matter to him, so maybe higher malpractice premiums will.
As for the oncologist, what he did was insensitive at best, cruel at worst, but probably not malpractice. But it would probably feel good to report him to every professional board and committee in the state and in his hospital that you can think of.

Sasmom, I don't know why, but in the House forum they are clearly trying to get rid of all the old-timers. That doesn't seem to be the case in all the fora, but it is there.
It's their loss -- we're a really interesting group of people. :D

Well, it probably makes it easier to "moderate" if you only have to contend with the people that post one thing, the day after the episode, and then nothing else until the next episode airs.
Doesn't seem like much of a community to me, or any place you'd want to go for insightful analysis, but what do I know?

I think they should file formal complaints too Poeia, but my family aren't the kind to make waves.

Finally saw this train wreck. Amy, Amy, Amy... *shakes head sadly*
Taiga- 11-04-2007
Was she singing in English? That's not a joke, I'm not familiar with her work so I don't know what languages she sings in. It didn't sound like English.
galaxygirl- 11-04-2007
I think she usually sings in English(not familiar either). I think this was in Intoxicated. She has a lot of drugs problems, quite frankly I'm surprised she's still alive.
Silja- 11-04-2007
No, I'm fairly sure she was singing in the little known dialect cocaineswabadungledong, but it was meant to be English.
Taiga- 11-04-2007
That was supposed to be English? Hello, Kurt Cobain.
Namaste- 11-04-2007
Want some good news as it applies to music and life in general? They announced the lineup for the Ann Arbor Folk Festival in January. (I'm a volunteer there, working all day both days, with backstage passes and I attend the after show party both nights.)
Ben Folds and Toad the Wet Sprocket (and Down the Line, a really tight alt-country band) on Friday night. And Saturday there are three co-headliners: Shawn Colvin, Patti Griffin and Emmylou Harris.
Tomorrow I work the Mary Gautier/Melissa Ferrick show, Saturday is Odetta, next week is George Winston, next month is Guy Clark .... I'm spoiled.
What's that you say? That's only good news for me? Oh. Sorry.

I had no idea that Toad the Wet Sprocket was even still around. (Or Frog the Dry Bolt as we used to call them in college.) But Ben Folds is a solid win and he is quite spectacular in concert. That is awesome that you'll undoubtedly have great access to the show.

Glen Phillips, the lead singer/songwriter, still does a lot of touring, occasionally with the band. I've worked a couple of his shows.

This is way way OT, but I actually made a coherent sentence in Japanese... and the other person understood. This is... really big for me.
*runs away*
