Wow...just wow...that's pretty fed up Taiga
I'm sorry to hear that and frankly that oncologist is a prat
Jouse- 11-03-2007
Taiga, that's terrible. I'm so sorry. What a schmuck.
I can't stop watching QI. I can't concentrate on anything else. This show has took over my life
sasmom- 11-03-2007
Sorry, Taiga. What an awful thing.
so, after 4 warns, one 1-week banishing, and this stupid thing. Banned for life. I am soooooo proud.
There's a discussin there as to why the conversation has dried up. I know it's been addressed on a thread in this forum, but there, they're blaming it on the lack of things to discuss. I think it's that nearly everyone's either gone or doing minimal postings.

I keep making plans for going out in a blaze, but then I realise that I can't be bothered.
Me, too. I'd love to pull a Fred and George Weasley mid-book 5, but yeah. It requires effort. Catherine wheels and all. ;)
Taiga, that's awful. There's just no excuse for that. I'm sorry to hear about it. :(

Oh, I know, Jouse! I have been watching every ep, myself, recently. Xmas was funny. "I was interviewing the President of Uganda", indeed!

This is pretty sweet, Spectrum is showing Firefly :)

Taiga, that's just horrible. I'm so sorry to hear this. And that oncologist should be fired.
MaryIsobel- 11-04-2007
Over the phone??? How can this oncolgist (I don't think he deserves that extra "o") possibly justify that??? I've heard of callous idiots who break up with you on the phone and my ex boss once got told on the phone at work that she needed to come in for another pre-op blood test because the first one came back HIV positive (turned out if was a false + but still....) but this jerk has reached a whole new low of arrogant, narcissitic smuckhood. Hugs to your cousin, Taiga.
I had really lucky timing at That Other Place: I had lurked forever and finally had decided to take the plunge when they got that new Nikita dude/chick so I have never experienced the notes and warnings and banning. I guess that priveledge still remains for you ladies and gents here! (I hope that wink isn't famous last words....!)

Yay Nursy!
The Stephen/Alan chemistry has got me utterly hooked, and my midriff is all contracted from laughter. It's like a natural high
Taiga- 11-04-2007
Thanks guys. MaryIsobel I remember reading a story about two high school students in the southern U.S. who were informed that they had HIV by letter. They had donated blood and the blood bank sent them letters telling them that their blood couldn't be used because they tested positive for HIV. The next time I donated blood (in Canada) I asked the tech about it and she said that they call the person and tell them to come into the clinic and break the news there.
sasmom, I forgot to say that my first warning at TWoP was almost identical to what got you banned. In the spoiler spec thread people were getting hysterical, I mean really hysterical, over a particular minor spoiler (all for nothing, it turned out) and I said something like "Let's wait and see how it plays out, OK?". I got a warning and was told not to tell people what to do.

Taiga, I remember that! Oh well, it is what it is, I suppose. More's their loss of all of us, eh?

I think that was one of my favorite episodes. The whole panel was just hysterical over Stephen's throwaway line. I was interviewing the President of Uganda..." then one of the panelists says something about a story he heard about someone meeting with David Frost and Boutrous Boutrous
Uhali (SP?), from the UN comes in and Stephen interupts to say that he was the person in the story...........I love Stephen!

Stephen Fry for galactic presidency, damn it!

Sorry to hear the bad news, Taiga. I have come to the conclusion that most doctors are idiots. I actually paid extra to keep a good one I had when our insurance changed. Last year when my Dad was sick, the doctors weren't even communicating with each other, so we'd get one guy telling us that it was time to call the family together, followed by another one asking about discharge plans. It took forever to get to the right guy who'd finally sit down and give us all the information.
And on the TWoP issue ... I just got a warning for editing a post to take out the potential for boards-on-board discussion. So I didn't get a warning for the original post, but for taking out what would have been a problem if I hadn't edited it. I'm still trying to work my brains around the circular logic on that one. Personally I blame all the "professional" moderators brought on board after the Bravo/NBC acquisition.
What really ticks me off, though, are that the only really active people left on the boards there are the most obstinante, argumentative people. How does that work? (And I'm trying not to be all conspiracy theorist, but found it interesting that someone who disagreed with me on a thread sent me a PM to "advise" to to edit a post or I'd end up with a "boards-on-boards" warning. I told her I wouldn't and why not, since it wasn't about the boards there, but general media sites. Then, lo and behold, I get a boards-on-boards warning -- 12 hours later, but it has nothing to do with the original post, but one that was edited because I didn't feel like gettng involved in a circular argument. Coincidence?)

Taiga, I'm so sorry to hear that they are still being utterly unprofessional. I didn't think it was possible for them to do any worse all things considered.
Namaste, that's impressive. It follows logically that they should ban you outright if you don't write anything at all next time. And what do you mean about the people who're left there? I thought I was among the obstinate, argumentative people. Bugger. I shall have to do wors...I mean better.
