Why didn't anyone tell me that live American football is less exiting than watching paint dry? I haven't been that bored since I was stuck in an airport for two days. No, I was less bored then. I had my laptop.
It was cold, wet and miserable, but Giants won.
I find watching American Football on my tv as boring as watching grass grow. Baseball doesn't do it for me either, but at least I know what's going on there. I'm a 100% soccer girl. Might have something to do with me being Dutch and it being the no 1 sport there by a landslide.
In other news, is it January 4rd yet? I want all those politicians out of my state.
I find American football hideously boring as well. Probably to do with the fact that I dislike sports where you can't even see the participant from under all the protective gear they're wearing.
I'm a soccer girl, too. Soccer players have the best legs. Ahem.
I do enjoy watching baseball, both on television and live at the stadium. Baseball is one of those rare sports that I enjoy watching, regardless of the level of play, whether it's major leagues, college, high school or little league. I'm just All-American that way, I guess.
In other news, I started a boxing fitness class this weekend. I'm wary of actually stepping into the ring and letting someone pummel me--and, myself, I'm a lover, not a fighter--but whaling on a punching bag feels really, really GOOD. I consider myself to be in pretty decent shape. I've always been a runner and play soccer once a week but....wow. This class utterly kicked my ass. Let's just say I'm no longer mystified as to how Hugh keeps his arms in such great shape. I'm hoping for the female equivalent....

Do you even get to vote?
Nope. Not a citizen yet.

Though, the US is big on mail-in & absentee voting. I'm also told its pretty easy for dead people to vote in Chicago ;D
Is it official Girardi is the new manager? I just heard he was the leading candidate this am. My money's on A-Rod going to the BoSox after that snotty comment by Steinbrenner this am.

Hear, hear. Have you seen Kaka's legs? Homina, homina, homina.
Nope. Not a citizen yet.
That sucks. I'm in sort of the same situation. I have dual citizenship, and a general election was just called in my other, ehm, 'homeland', but I can't vote because the constitution prohibits citizens from voting with they don't live 'within the realm'. And I really wanted to vote against those fascist bastard *grumbles*

He's been offered the job
Earlier on ESPN, they were talking that A-Rod might go to the Marlins.

From the looks of this, it appears as though he's accepted the offer. I haven't really been following his career since he left the Yankees as a player, but I liked him then. Hope he does a good job.

hah, I took boxing once and it completely kicked my ass.
My main sport is dancing, which may show some of it. But it's not easy and pretty arms, the classes range from exhausting to (if pointework) absolutely excrutiating. Especially the stretching classes.
Also last year I took up lacrosse. I'm rubbish at it but it's awesome.

Okay, since we're talking sports, who else practices horseriding?

Girardi has indeed accepted the offer. They broke through Rachael Ray this morning (just as Michael Buble was about to sing, WTF?!) to inform us of this Very Important News Item. Don't get me wrong, I care A LOT, since I'm a huuuuge Yankees fan, but...seriously, people. Show it on ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN News, The Yes Network, Fox Sports, MSG and all the rest of the sports channels. Sheesh. I do think Girardi is going to do well as the new skipper. He's smart, sharp, personable and knows the game. He wasn't voted 2005 Manager of the Year for nothing. I'm also excited about Girardi because my brother and I had a bet going: Girardi or Mattingly for manager in '08. Guess who won. Hah!
Anywho, re: American football. I can watch it, but it's far too long for my taste, with so many stupid breaks in between. But you want to talk about boring? Watch a basketball game. Worse than the dentist's office.
Soccer is one of those sports that I only like to play. For some reason I just can't watch it. I miss playing soccer, though. It was so much fun.
The best sport, IMHO, is hockey, though, because it's non-stop excitement. I love it. Let's go Rangers. Woo!
(Yeah, I grew up with three sports-obsessed men. My love of sports was inevitable.)

I LOVE watching hockey. I don't really follow it, but my dad always took me to Binghamton Rangers games when I was younger. I really like watching it live - beats watching it on TV.
stillunwritten- 10-30-2007
Oh, yeah. Seeing it live is unbelievable. Even in the nosebleeds of Madison Square Garden it's still thrilling. The good thing about it is that it's still fun to watch it's on TV.
And the Binghamton Rangers were an AHL team, right? Kind of like an NY Rangers farm team? (If you're talking about Binghamton, NY. If not, then...disregard that last comment.)

Yesssss. Except I am a Leafs fan. I prefer international hockey, like the Olympics and whatnot. That way I can cheer for a team that might win, as opposed to my 40-years-without-a-Cup Leafs.

I am also a soccer girl. 3rd best on the team.
But during the Olympics I always watch diving and swimming (And sometimes beach volleyball) more than soccer.

:( Poor Toronto. You guys need some sort of championship. Maybe the Blue Jays can try and bring the Series home next season. I do like the Leafs, though. I like Canadian hockey teams in general, except the Senators. Boo. (My apologies if that offends anyone.)
I like all kinds of hockey, really, especially the Olympics. The Winter Olympics are always so exciting, though I really only get into figure skating and both men's and women's hockey. I wish I would have been alive to see the Miracle on Ice, because the clips alone just give me chills. That story was amazing.
Oh, I'd like to veer off-topic on this off-topic thread to pay my respects to the very talented, charismatic and likable Mr. Robert Goulet, who unfortunately passed away this morning. He will most certainly be missed.
