Geez, that montage of best Oscar films only served to remind us all how wrong Oscar got it throughout the 90s.
Titanic? Shakespeare in Love? The English Patient? Braveheart? Egad.

Don't forget Chicago.

Yes, more Bourne Ultimatum love.

I was more upset about Gladiator and Million Dollar Baby, personally.
Don't forget Chicago.
*Gasp* I love Chicago

Replace Forrest Gump for The English Patient, but apart from that I was thinking the same thing.

Me too. Love the soundtrack too.

Oh god, I forgot about Forrest Gump. I found that movie so offensive for some reason.
fffaw- 02-24-2008
Why is Nicole kidman wearing Christmas tree tinsel around her neck? And would someone please tell her it's caught on one of her boobs? So distracting!

It's main offense is beating out Pulp Fiction and the Shawshank Redemption ;)
Interesting that Bourne won Film Editing, that's usually one that goes to the future BP winner.

I love it when people, whom no one else has worked with in 30 years, finally get awards. It's probably the first time since, oh, 1979 or so that Alfred Hitchcock got thanked at an Academy Awards ceremony.
Good grief, that guy was born the year DW Griffith pioneered parallel editing.

Right, bailey? I was particularly struck how many fine films won in the '40s - and the losers were no slouches, either. The '90s had to be the sleepwalking awards decade - so many great movies lost.
But the montages always remind me that there are movies at all. Movies, you guys - MOVIES! How utterly marvelous they are. I so love them - what a wonderful way to tell a story. When they are great, they are sublime. Forgive the squee - but I am so captivated by our version of tales around the stone-age campfire.

Wasn't Quiz Show nominated that year too? I think Pulp Fiction should have won but Quiz Show holds a very special place in my heart.

I hear ya. Movies are incredible. I love them so much and very few people really understand how passionate I am about them, they chalk it up to laziness. They just don't get it. *sighs* Hey, McDreamy.

Yeah and the fifth nominee was Four Weddings and a Funeral. As much as I love Pulp Fiction, Shawshank should have won. It's in my opinion one of the best movies ever made.
See, I can say nice things: At least Travolta seems to have lost a bunch of weight. I can't get over the fake hair though.
sautomne- 02-24-2008
Oy, Travolta. Is his hair painted on his head?
LightMyCandle- 02-24-2008
*gapes* Okay, that song was boring, sorry to anyone who likes it. Oh, well.
I love Travolta, I don't care what he looks like.
fffaw- 02-24-2008
Could travolta be more botoxed?
Whoo! Falling slowly won!
