And I call my twelve-year-old cocker spaniel a puppy. I don't accept the Hector timeline at all. I find it hard to believe that House would not have known about Wilson's LLB, if he (House) had known Wilson for that long. I'm thinking they've known each other around 8-10 years. If 10 or over, then they were probably acquaintances for a while, and House could have feasibly not known about Wilson's LLB even if the brother was around. Then, by the time they got close, the brother was gone and Wilson probably felt no need to mention him.

This timeline thing seems like fun, I´ll play. My personal canon (I totally love this phrase!!) so far, it goes like this. I divide the timeline in two moments: 1) H-W meet, 2) They become BFF. For the first I have no trouble with the Hector Timeline. They met about 17-18 years ago, probably working together, let´s say in Boston. House is fired, leaves, and keeps in touch with Wilson. Then about 15 years ago they meet again in New Jersey. And here is when the relationship begins to change, and Bonnie to resent it. Maybe House is the one person Wilson knows in NJ. This also explains Bonnie's hurt, she moves to a new place with her husband, doesn´t know many people, and instead of Wilson offering the support she needs, he's off with House. There's a divorce. And Wilson and House get closer. So, BFF for about 12-13 years.

Eighteen years ago, Wilson would've been about twenty-three. He wouldn't have been working in a hospital yet. He'd be in his first or second year of med school. As far as we know, he didn't go to Med school in Boston.

We don't even know Wilson's age, if he's the same age as RSL, Wilson would have been 20 years old 18 years ago. And on his second marriage. From what Bonnie told us, House and Wilson were already pretty close during marriage #2.

I've always figuired that Wilson is about two to three years older than RSL. But nothing in canon confirms it.

Okay what about the Boy Wonder Oncologist reference by House (Histories). The youngest person ever admitted to medical school is the 12 y/o Asian boy (University of Chicago) and he's actually working on an MD/PHD. Isn't it possible that Wilson started medical school really young - about 17 or 18.

Not only we don´t know how old Wilson really is, we don´t know how long Wilson's marriages lasted. So, its quite possible that the friendship grew during the time of the second marriage. Ok, 18 years ago Wilson is either a) 20 (RSL age) o b) 23-25 (if Wilson is older than RSL). If a) then he could probably be a med-student at the same teaching hospital with House as Resident or Fellow or b) An intern at the same hospital with House as Resident or Fellow. a) also means that Wilson went into his second marriage at only 20! This makes no sense, but it's a lot of fun!

Yeah, it is getting really old in fanfic, like really old. However, I do think it's possible that Wilson could have finished medical school at an early age. Ah, I told myself I wasn't getting involved in the timeline drama, it hurtys my head.

I always thought "Boy Wonder" referred to Wilson becoming the head of a major department at a teaching hospital at a very young age. I wouldn't be surprised if Wilson were a bit younger than the norm when he went to medical school, but if he were still a teenager, House wouldn't be the only acknowledged genius on the staff.

Okay this is going to be obnoxiously long winded: I agree with the Bonnie time line (to many points from Bonnie and Wilson to discount: “We got him on our Honeymoon. “Because even when he was a puppy, he was the worst-tempered dog we’d ever seen.”(she is making a distinction about his age when they got him) Wilson: “He's about seventeen.” “He has arthritis.” I agree with a lot of what has been posted along these lines. I can see the idea that H/W have know each other for 20 years or since Wilson was approx 18 Yrs old work. We could also stay with the basic timeline but make Wilson two years older than RSL so currently 40. I can see Wilson being the kind of kid who concentrated and excelled at academics to the point where he graduated High school early and started college at 16. This would add to his social awkwardness and support House’s kidding that Wilson had no friends growing up. I’ll admit that at first House having no knowledge about the LLB threw me a curve too. But I can accept that neither House nor Wilson discussed their families since each had some unhappiness they were avoiding. House his relationship with his Dad and Wilson whatever contributed to his brother ultimately leaving. In fact House and Wilson don’t discuss any other relationships unless those folks appear on the scene. Stacy, only discussed right as she was about to return and the fallout briefly after she left. House’s parents and lack of siblings never discussed before Daddy’s Boys and barely since (SOCG & ODOR). Wilson’s family was never mentioned before Histories and nothing since. Crandall never before or since his arrival with no indication Wilson had ever heard of him before ("So why were you friends with this guy."). No friend of Wilson’s ever mentioned. Bonnie only when she showed up. First wife one passing mention right after Bonnie’s appearance and the mention ofall three marriages being a mistake. Julie and the marriages in general mostly brought up by House and only periodically as plot points. No mention of her since despite House confirming Wilson stays on a friendly basis with them. Wilson could have been a junior in college while House was finishing Med school or post-Med school perhaps doing fellowships or research/studying for one of his two specialties (I know nothing about acquiring Medical degrees but I’m sure something could be concocted.) Remembering too that House and Wilson were originally meant to be the same age, around RSL’s age of late 30’s. So it was probably meant that the relationship was long term. In order to make that more feasible they accelerated the rate at which a now 10 – 8 year younger Wilson has progressed in his career (Wonder Boy could have been a term of endearment from way back that House resurrected that once to make a point) and perhaps slowed House’s progression (he did have to go to two medical schools with perhaps a gap in between) to put them a little closer together. I can totally see House and Wilson, upon meeting and recognizing what was and is for both of them a unique, even singular relationship, following each other around from schools to hospitals as they made their way to PPTH. Something like this: Wilson 38 (or 40) House 48 Meet 20 years ago Wilson 18 College Junior (or 20 Med Sch Fresh) House 28 Wilson Marries #1 at 18 (or 20) Marriage ends after 2 years Wilson 20 (or 22) Wilson meets and marries Bonnie 16 years ago at 22 (or 24) Hector is one year old, still a puppy, when they adopt him on their Honeymoon. Their relationship started in Boston, than they moved to NJ (ETA, they could have been following House, more reason for Bonnie to hate House early on in the going.) or House comes along or follows soon after and moves into 221B (15yrs ago) House and Stacy meet two years later. LLB disappears from the area a year after that. They each had a reason to stay put House, Stacy. Wilson, still hoping LLB will return.

I can't accept that Wilson is responsible for getting House his job at PPTH because you'd think it would have been mentioned by now. Instead it's always been made clear that Cuddy hired him. Cuddy is also a girl wonder and graduated medical school at 25, so I doubt we're supposed to think that Wilson graduated earlier than she did. I do believe that we're supposed to believe the Hector timeline because TPTB made such a point of it: giving Hector's age AND saying that they bought him on their honeymoon. Even if it makes little sense - Wilson starting his second marriage 17 years ago, when he was at most 25? House knowing him then even though they went to different schools? About the final scene in 'Need To Know', I thought Wilson was frustrated upon learning that Stacy wanted to stay with House and House let Stacy go.

Isn't it great that all we want is more information on their friendship time line and when we get it, it only makes things more confusing.

I think the writers and pruoducers and actors know that and do it on purpose. :D
