There was discussion of that but I think it was toilet humour... House implying that Wilson's BMs are stinky. I considered that as well, but why would House say "I wish."? That doesn't seem like something he'd lament missing out on. ;)

onspeeeed- 11-01-2007

^Agreed. Unless House is way, way, way more twisted than any of us suspect.

LightMyCandle- 11-01-2007

*fans self* All this talk makes me wonder if anyone has written a bathroom encounter "missing scene" fic based on Top Secret...

Bridgididge- 11-01-2007

I know, right? Isn't he implying that Wilson turns tricks in the boy's room...? That's what I thought. And the best part of that entire scene was the manner in which Foreman and Chase looked at each other. Only Cameron was confused there.

idonmatrix- 11-01-2007

Well now that's the first explanation for that scene that I can actually buy. Makes perfect sense :)

*fans self* All this talk makes me wonder if anyone has written a bathroom encounter "missing scene" fic based on Top Secret... ^I suppose I could take a stab at it . . . I'm basically a fanfic virgin, but I think I'm familiar enough with the voices/tones/themes involved to do a decent job . . .

Since Top Secret is on my list of "to be never seen again" episodes, that scene never caught my attention, but I remember at the time I thought it was a strange joke - but then, everything about TS was quite strange... On paper, House really seemed to imply that he wanted to be in the bathroom with Wilson, not that he wanted to avoid it. I just finished Savemoony's review :D and I was coming here to ask why people are talking so little about that exchange. It's awesome! Someone said in the comments it's like the relationship just exists, like gravity, it's a nature's law so there's no need to talk and talk about it. I love this idea! And is it really that surprising that Wilson is the one with the power?

hwshipper- 11-02-2007

I just finished Savemoony's review :D and I was coming here to ask why people are talking so little about that exchange. It's awesome! Well all I've got to say about it is that ITA with it! Of course my theory is that H&W have been together forever, not just since end of season 3  - but hey, I'll take arguments for s4 canon with open arms :P And as I commented at the page, I also totally agree with Savemoony that I would much rather have House and Wilson maintain a subtextual canon relationship (where you know what's going on, but they never say it) than Big Gay Lifetime Moment Subtextual canon relationship is what it's all about for me.

And I have to disagree, as usual *sigh* Having House and Wilson in a sexual relationship which doesn't breach the subtext level is a concept that reeks of homophobia and hypocrisy, IMO. I think that maintaining our ship with a slashy bone here and there, with no intention of canonizing it, is an act of cowardice of TPTB.

That doesn't seem like something he'd lament missing out on. ;) I took the whole "I wish" thing, as the I can't pee thing. He didn't want his team knowing, so he used the Wilson was just in there excuse. If there was subtext there, it went over my head.

idonmatrix- 11-02-2007

The "I wish" comment was definitely subtext cause you know he could have referenced someone or something else or told Cameron - none ya. Having House and Wilson in a sexual relationship which doesn't breach the subtext level is a concept that reeks of homophobia and hypocrisy, IMO. I think that maintaining our ship with a slashy bone here and there, with no intention of canonizing it, is an act of cowardice of TPTB. My other must watch and rewatch show is Brothers and Sisters. They do both het and hoyay extremely well. I love all the female characters, whereas on most shows that I watch I hate them with a passion. My only concern about anything physical even though I'm in the group that wants it but I don't want a H/W kiss that is a remake of the HAM puke kiss. I thought the HAM kiss was the nastiness thing I had ever seen - just so nasty. I want a H/W kiss to be tender. When they decide to take H/W to the next level, I hope they hire a writer from B&S cause their manlove scenes are hot.

And are those people who don't believe they have a canon sexual relationship also homophobes? I highly, highly doubt that the show would ever develop a canon sexual relationship between them, but House and Wilson have one of the most unique and intriguing friendships out there. The fact that the show producers are aware of -- and don't shy away from -- context is great, and a lot of fun to watch, but I'd beware of painting them with the homophobia brush just because they don't show something that they never intended in canon.

SaphronGirl- 11-02-2007

My interpretation of the scene? House originally blurts out "I wish" because he aches to be able to actually go to the washroom. But, because he doesn't want his subordinates to know about this weakness, he quickly covers up by tacking on the Wilson comments to try to make sense of his unintentionally candid comment. In other words, he prefers that they think he is fooling around with Wilson rather than know he has bladder issues. Now, there's a revelation about House's character that really needs to be explored. (There was actually quite a bit of bathroom HoYay in Top Secret, with the Village People teasing and House's bragging to Wilson about his… um... measurements.)

(There was actually quite a bit of bathroom HoYay in Top Secret, with the Village People teasing and House's bragging to Wilson about his… um... measurements.) WILSON: You cathed yourself? HOUSE: It's actually not that bad after the first... I don't know, 9 or 10 inches.
