Speedy, can I call you Sis? :P
And can I subscribe to that club in my sister's name, Taiga? Maybe then she will give me a rest!
Seriously... I have this pet theory that all Wilson's wives filled for divorce, but even if he was the one who left the house (!), I'm sure it was because the wife had had enough.
I don't think that any explanation about Wilson's behaviour must be discarded. But I do think that a lot of we see now are consequences from his childhood - but I don't have expectations about finding out the true. The show is about House, like someone said above (I honestly don't know if in this thread or another...), and Wilson is there to explain and give some human dimension to him, not the other way around. But there's always hope if the story could involve House.
I thought it telling that Wilson never once referred to Julie by her name.
And I always thought this happened because TPTB had forgotten which was her name... :?

^Ah, but this is why shows have continuity editors (a horrid, horrid job to have by the way), and while the writer is toiling away on an ep, if they wanna know if that one character we saw that one time with that one guy had a name? They call the Continuity Editor(s), and they look it up. Occasionally flubs leak through, or creators make the conscious decision to change a detail they'd made specific before (like the # of kids or siblings a character has) and hope no one notices . . . but in general if TPTB *know* they're going to be bringing up an obscure piece of info from their series? The Haystack Searcher is sent after The Needle ASAP.
**oh, and you can totally call me Sis.**

*peeks out from behind rock* Is the Mercury retrograde over? I haven't dared post for the last couple of days...
A big WORD to onspeeeed's long post in the last page. ITA that Wilson can't actually tell the difference between love & lust & a whole range of other emotions. I do think he absolutely believes himself that he was in love with each of his wives, both at the time and now. But I think he confuses this with other feelings like compassion and affection and sexual attraction. By contrast I am sure (avid H/W shipper that I am) House was absolutely in love with Stacy.
Love the sisterhood! A friend of mine is in a Facebook group called Cult of the Doomed Single Women.
I think any of us here on HHOW would make a much better Continuity Editor for House than the absinthe monkeys they have at the moment :D

A lot of people don't either.
Actually, I almost believe that Wilson was never truly in love, but don't realize that. How very confused this man is...
House was absolutely in love with Stacy.
I totally believe in that too. Another paradox between Wilson, the nice one - who never fall in love - and House, the bastard, who loved Stacy so deeply.

Oh, so well put Lully! I'm getting sentimental these days, this actually moved me.
Lully- 10-30-2007
It's kind of romantic, actually.
But I only gave continuation to Taiga's idea:
You also reminded me of something else that's fascinating about this pair, yin and yang as Doris Egan once called them:
Bonnie: James at least had the decency to feel guilty when he hurt me!
House: Whereas I never hurt you!
Wilson hurts women yet is regarded as the nice guy, while House doesn't but is still considered a bastard.
And of course it's not only women Wilson is able to hurt. He has a sharp tongue. While House maybe can hurt him (Wilson) with his actions (or lack of), Wilson knows exactly how to hurt House with words: in HvsG, his soft "Lucky for you" was really hurtful, and I wonder if wasn't this line that made House so angry about the whole situation since Wilson clearly compared him to Grace.
Hibernia- 10-30-2007
ITA, Lully, I think Wilson is able to hurt House deeply, not only with his words but also by his frequently dismissing House's pain.

Yep, and House, the miserable jerk who pushes people away, has more people around him who care about him and would support him, than Wilson, the nice one, does. It's a crazy world.
Hibernia- 10-30-2007
Well, maybe House was right when he said (in "House versus God") that Wilson's more screwed up than he is.
Lully- 10-30-2007
Hee... Maybe?
I loved when House said that. It's was like everything I (and many others I'm sure) notice about Wilson was acknowledge.

I hesitate to say Wilson's 'more' screwed up than House but would agree with 'just as' screwed up as House. In fact, that perspective is key to my world view of them.
Lully- 10-30-2007
But House knows how screwed up he is, Wilson tries to hide his screwupness (is this a word?!), so by default he is more screwed up!
lf2871- 10-30-2007
I love that Wilson, who you'd think is saner than House, is just as mad, but in a slightly more normal way.
That is good charictor writeing - makes them seem far more human.
hwshipper- 10-30-2007

:) Can't argue with that! I was going to say that Wilson tries harder to deal with his screwed-up-ness than House (taking ADs etc) - but thinking more about it (hotel) I'm not sure he does...
Lully- 10-30-2007
Hum... The AD's are an interesting point, actually.
On the surface it seems Wilson is trying to get better, but what if he is only taking the meds to continue to function? I mean if you only take the AD's, and nothing more, you will seem more functional, but you won't really be treating the primary cause of the depression, will you? How this kind of thing works in RL?
