As for not accepting the Hector time line, since its what we have been told I don't see the alternative. Everything else we may have thought was based on lack of information and assumption or now ignoring specific info we have been given but YMMV. And yet lots of alternatives have been given, also based on real information, and to insist on the Hector timeline ignores that real information. So yeah. Mileage varies, and non-Hector believers aren't just burying their heads in the sand. I'm not going to be surprised if we get more information at some point that contradicts each alternative timeline at some point. Heck, I think TPTB either don't see the issue of how long they've been friends as particularly vital -- whether it's 20 years or 10, as long as it's pre-infarction -- or that the creators intentionally play with the timeline as a further homage to Holmes and Watson, since their continuity was wonky.

I know this is a touchy subject but just to clarify, the alternatives that I've seen and I was an expounder of them myself previously, only take in to consideration what was known (and in some cases assumed) before the Hector time info and then throw the Hector info out. To me that is too much alteration to fit properly. Equations change when a new number is added. They have given us a new number and I can't go along with their just messing with us and/or Bonnie and Wilson are both wrong. If there are ones that don't please share because I do love this stuff. I'm not going to be surprised if we get more information at some point that contradicts each alternative timeline at some point. That is a distinct possibility Namaste and it wouldn't surprise me either. Damn PTB sending us back to the drawing board. :) But right now I don't think the Hector timeline contradicts any specific information that came before, except assumptions made by most if not all of us trying to construct a time line with precious little help. ETA, sorry for burning your eyes guys , I'll take any additional thoughts to the TL.

1996 – Wilson’s last contact with LLB 1997 – House starts at PPTH and House purchases his current winter car 1998 – Wilson starts at PPTH - Meaning Wilsoin's start date at PPTH is based on wheelchair having been treated at PPTH for 8 years. I probably have this totally wrong but cut me some slack since I just decided to go down this very, very painful road :) Oh dear, back in timeline madness again! idon, IMHO a better indication of Wilson's start date at PPTH is the last contact with LLB. Presumably he was at least in the Princeton area at the time to have seen LLB on the street somewhere around there. I like to think that Wilson arrived in town for his new job, bumped into LLB, and LLB upped and left town the next day. But right now I don't think the Hector timeline contradicts any specific information that came before, except assumptions made by most if not all of us trying to construct a time line with precious little help. ITA. But would rather not get into all this again! Don't we have a timeline thread somewhere now for this sort of thing?...

I've been rewatching old episodes lately. I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but I noticed in the S1 episode where it's House's birthday, there are three people who bring up or were planning on bringing up the birthday. Cameron did. Cuddy did. And Wilson did. Cameron/House and Cuddy/House are both ships that TPTB like and try to canonize. One of these things is not like the other...?

Lully- 12-12-2007

Actually, I think one of these things are much better than the others! :P It's a cute idea, but I don't thing that so early in the show they were playing with "ships". I guess it was just to show us who were those characters at that time... But I'm open for any other (better) interpretation

Well, one thing that is not like the others is that by the time Wilson mentions House's birthday, one must assume that a significant amount of time had passed considering schitzophrenic woman was completely healed by that point. Cameron and Cuddy had their cards ready on the day--Wilson was completely off the mark.

hwshipper- 12-12-2007

Perhaps Wilson was remembering House's alternative birthday (the hallucination bracelet one)

LightMyCandle- 12-12-2007

Cameron and Cuddy had their cards ready on the day--Wilson was completely off the mark. I'd have to rewatch it but I took it as yet another example of how well Wilson knows House as opposed to Cuddy and Cameron. House didn't want his birthday brought up or made into a big deal. Cuddy and Cameron sort of tried to make it a big deal. Cuddy had a card but tossed it when House said something about not wanting one (I'm not sure exactly how it went, it's been a while.) and Cameron was trying to tell him that it's okay to be happy about his birthday or something to that effect. (talk about treating him like a child but I digress.) Wilson just made an off-handed remark about it at the end. I think he was kind of teasing him though, YMMV.

(talk about treating him like a child but I digress.) Well, yeah, I don't think there's any doubt that Wilson knows House better. Especially since at that point Cameron's barely more than 6 months into her fellowship with House. The interesting comparison is with Cuddy who, despite apparently knowing House since college, still thought he might want a card for his birthday. Then again, at some point I think TPTB decided to make a deeper connection between House & Cuddy than was evident during the first season.

Lully- 12-12-2007

I still think that we weren't supposed to make any kind of comparison between their actions. At that time they're showing us that House was a misanthropic, who hated this kind of celebration. Cameron was the nosy, nice girl, who wanted to please her difficult boss - yes, I do think she was kissing his ass. Cuddy was the boss, she probably knew about the event because she received a memo from HR with all the employees' birthdays in that month. And Wilson knew because he didn't need to look at House's mail or to receive notes: he was House best and only friend (still is!), he knows House. JMO, of course!

And Wilson knew because he didn't need to look at House's mail or to receive notes: he was House best and only friend (still is!), he knows House. JMO, of course! Amen to that!! Which is why I almost fell out of my chair when Cameron told Wilson that everyone assumes she cares as much about House as Wilson does (The Jerk).

If any of you is in need of a smile, rewatch the shop scene in Family. It's such a mood booster, I almost hit my head in the ceiling.
