Since Alone, after Wilson's "you said we're going to have lunch" line, I completely believe that they do hang out together again on a regular basis, but TPTB don't show us because they like to torture us! :P
I do believe that they hang out together outside of work again, mainly because their friendship seems to be right back on track again. 'Ugly' reminded me a lot of their season1/season2 friendship, which made me very happy. I wanted to have that back more than anything.

My take on it is that Ugly wasn't so much a great *hoyay* ep (and I can spot the sub-sub-sub text if there even might just be any, or none), but it was a great *House/Wilson* ep
I couldn't have said it any better myself. As someone else pointed out, this is hardly the first time they've talked about the attractiveness of women and for me it just serves to show how close they are to each other. I loved that House just kept running to Wilson about CIA doc and wanted him to watch the footage to tell him if he really was losing it. I loved how much fun Wilson was having with the whole thing too, it was great seeing him smile and laugh. I loved how quickly House kicked the doc crew out of Wilson's office too, that was just so cute.

I too, believe that they are hanging out together outside of work. They just seem a lot more comfortable around each other now and I think it would still be just a little awkward if they were just "at work" friends. Now, if we could only see them hanging out together outside of work, I'll be one happy fangirl.

there was a lot of discussion over at H/W LJ of the lack of hoyay in the Ugly H/W scenes but I thought they were filled with hoyay.
My take on it is that Ugly wasn't so much a great *hoyay* ep (and I can spot the sub-sub-sub text if there even might just be any, or none), but it was a great *House/Wilson* ep; I actually enjoyed Ugly a lot because there was more H/W interaction than, well, the vast majority of House episodes ever.
I agree the the "hoyay" was more about the H/W relationship. But there were obviously hoyay moments. House busted in on the Wilson interview but not on Cuddy or Cameron's.
House said that the all access pass to the case did not include his fave 5s. It appears to me that Wilson has the top five spots.
I don't know if anyone else noticed but Cameron indicated that she had worked for House for 3 1/2 years. Yet, during Wilson's interview we got no indication for how long House and Wilson had known each other. This would have been a perfect opportunity. The TPTB are cruel

Thanks, Lully! And thanks for reminding me that Wilson thought they were going out to lunch in Alone, that makes it canon :D

That's very kind considering how convoluted :? I got with the bit in brackets! Just to add I also liked the bit when Wilson comes into House's office near the end and silences House just by holding up his hands. Which I'd like to think was continuity from the dominant-thing in Mirror Mirror, but hey.

TPTB certainly are cruel, though the Cameron info isn't new (unaired pilot says she's worked there for six months at that point). But ITA that it would have been REALLY easy for the interviewer to have asked Wilson how long they'd known each other. And how they met. And why on earth they're friends. And - and -
But then, of course, we'd be sitting here discussing if Wilson was just lying with his answers or not! Can't you just see it?

And after rewatching the "Ugly" scenes and considering that the main theme of the episode was wrong perceptions, I wonder if all H/W scenes wasn't really about the hoyay, maybe we're just "reading" them in the wrong way...
MissViolet- 11-19-2007
Well, there might not have been a lot of Hoyay but there was a lot of gay references - Wilson's hilarious discussion of House's "bathroom scandal" with the film crew, House's "Blew the janitor" line, plus Wilson's sly dig about House's blindness and hairy palms - fast on the heel's of last week's reference to House's Viagra-and-porn fest that Wilson had banked on. Of course these are just jokes, but sometimes they are more ambigous, like last week's episode in which House thought the CIA agent was going to do a strip-o-gram. Was he joking, or did he actually seem to welcome the prospect of a male stripper? I thought it was a little ambigious. Or maybe I just wanted it to be! Afterwards, he said, "We prefer the term 'life partners' " and I know this was a joke, but how many gay jokes can you crack before there starts to be a grain of truth detected?
Ah, well, hope springs eternal.

I really don't know how to say this but the H/W scenes in Ugly reminded me of the guy and girl who are best friends, spend a lot of time talking about their romantic pursuits with other people and then later discover that they are actually in love with each other.

I think you said that very well! I like it. Like, um, When Harry Met Sally? In which case I can't wait for House faking an orgasm in a cafe. (Or indeed not faking).

That is exactly the way I saw it, but didn't have such perfect words for it. I really don't mind when they talk about having sex with women, because those really are just BFF conversations. Sex is sex, but no one is more important to them than each other.

Sorry. I am not quite ready for the not faked orgasm to happen in a cafe. You know I am up for their orgasms just about anywhere (can you say "up against the glass at fifty stories? ) And I would love to see the fake one, with Wilson's horrified/intrigued reaction. Alley sex is great, too. But IN a cafe? I don't know about that one. I am sure that it would make a great crack!fic, though.

I think the same, if I correct have understand you.
I rewatched couple of times all scenes between House and Wilson and what I had seen. I realised that we can't see the all this hoyay, because it alreday is in the text. Because of that and if the next episode get proof that, i ll be very ashamed, because I was the one who much more from all Hilson was yelling about the missing Hoyay in Ugly.
But when I sit and told myself what will happened if I get faith in TPTB about that they look on us really in serious plan, what will happened then ?
If we thrown look in this angle, we will see that already no one has need from subtext. How TPTB do that, I haven't imagine.. Thay must be magians. And if this theory will be proved, I ll be give an general apology to Sean Whitesell on Fox forum.
Maybe we were very bothered about all this conversation between House and Wilson for women. That exercised a big influence of our obsrevation above the things:)
But, if we expeled this conversation, we can see the things how they are in it real situation. and I have mean exactly the comment of Wilson about Foreman and Chase. I could to conclused from this conversation two things:
House and especially Wilson completely realised and are comfortable with their sexuality.
2. Wilson try to make House jealous , because if you remember, House many times had made Wilson to jealous from Chase:
"Chase loves me, he never will do that!"
and Wilson immediately: Cameron loves you, Chase loves his job"
How already we all Hilsons know, Wilson jealous House from men, never TPTB had showed that Wilson jealous from women. Even we had seen from season 1 until now that Wilson encouraged House to get close with woman. That show me one thing about House: Wilson know perfectly which gender House prefer more. How can he knows that except by own experience with House;)
And he knows that he haven't be frighten about that. But I think, that Wilson was frighten about Cameron really. Maybe because he was atracted from her too. I didn't find other explanation. Because I think that he, like house, he looks on each other from their own bell tower.

You know, I was having such a crappy day... But the moment I come here every thing is better! I  you, guys!!!
I love the idea that H/W are like Harry and Sally. They actually remind me a lot the couples of very, very old comedy movies that I used to see on tv when I was a kid. They are in love but first they are BFF and can say anything to each other. Wilson was so messing up with House's mind in their scenes... I love him!

I'd prefer the fake orgasm in a cafe... a real one would be too messy...
But I can't see House doing the performance. Wilson, OTOH, seems to enjoy this kind of thing: he read Georgia's poem in a crowded room and he was having so much fun with his lies to the tv crew in the last episode. He'd do the fake orgasm in a heartbeat with his most innocent look!
Shemett, you understood my idea... Except the Cameron thing... Wilson and Cameron in the same sentence scare me to death!

I too like the Harry/Sally metaphor. One of my favorite hoyay moments does not involve House and Wilson but rather House and Cuddy - Lines in the Sand, which was reinforced by House's reaction to film crew when he discovered his fav fives was being interviewed. Also, House basically dismissed all the girls during the H/W het talk - she killed a patient, she's a bitch, and finally the slight eye roll. And of course, House was really interested in CIA doc. That's probably why he humiliated her in front of the other newbies BEFORE he asked her out.

Don't know what you're talking about, RNwannabe
Someone has already written House bringing Wilson to (a real) orgasm in the hospital cafeteria, using only his hands (Wilson's hands, that is). Not that long ago. Damned if I can find it though.
MissViolet- 11-20-2007
In my summarizing of the gay references in Ugly, I forgot to add the biggest one of all: Wilson's reference to Chase! I can't recall the exact line but House and Wilson were wondering if someone was gay and Wilson said, "Does he get nervous around Chase?" or something to that effect. If someone has a better memory than me, maybe you could share the exact details. (I don't know why the Wilson/Chase thread isn't all a-titter about this).
Wilson thinks Chase is hot! Hurray for Big Gay Wilson storyline.
Poeia- 11-20-2007
House and Wilson watching the tape
Wilson: You thought that was a good idea?
House: What am I gonna do?
Wilson: Just enjoy.
House: I'm gonna keep her around because she makes me an idiot?
Wilson: Well, you're protected. Foreman seems immune.
House: You think he's gay?
Wilson: Did he become an idiot around Chase?
And the "what am I gonna do?" line might be one of my favorites of all time. There's something about his delivery -- I just keep rewinding and rewatching.
