You totally do! Before, when I liked a particular character, I always made the mistake of thinking I liked the actor. I know better now. I always try to find out about the actor too, but I don't want to read every single line written about him or see every horrible show or film he's had a line in. For example, I read RSL interviews when people post links on LJs or boards but I don't go out looking for them, and while I've seen Dead Poets Society, because it's a good movie, I'm in no hurry to see some of his...other work... The same goes for my other 'celebrity crushes'. I know and like the character, not the guy playing him. The only exception I can think of is Bradley Whitford, I don't adore him the way I adore his character Josh Lyman, but I do think he's a pretty fun guy most of the time.

I do see a difference between RSL and the character of Wilson, but I crush on both equally lol. Well, maybe my RSL crush is bigger than my Wilson crush. It's hard to explain lol.

Hm, well, though he seems adorable, RSL is basically a total stranger to me. So I crush on Dr. Wilson, although I admire RSL because he loves animals and seems like a down-to-earth ordinary guy. But except for his enjoying crossword puzzles, can't say I know too much about him so I tend to identify my crush as focussed on Dr. Wilson, and my admiration of RSL is more of a superficial thing, because I think he's gorgeous and talented.

Yes... and he should stand like that, too. I'm thinking Wilson gets called in for an emergency consult and is dressed just like that pic. He stands in the doorway of the clinic or something posed like that and, honestly, I wouldn't care what the plot was for the episode. He could just stand like that for sixty minutes and I'd be thrilled. What is it about those forearms, anyway? They are just forearms like any other man... and yet... when Wilson rolls up his sleeves I am in awe.

*is dazed by the pic* Where were we..? Ah. Yes. Characters vs. actors. I usually love the characters and try to block the fact that there is an actor behind it lol. But there are some exceptions, and RSL (and HL and SF for that matter) fall under that category. I just seem to love everything they do. Even if it's mediocre movie, I enjoy (well, am thrilled) watching them in it. Of course, Wilson I love especially.

I don´t know if it´s just me but I feel that RSL has a different aura when he´s Wilson and when he´s just himself. I find Wilson adorable, lovely, but I don´t feel the same about RSL. I find him aloof. Am I making any sense? =P I know what you mean, I kind of feel the same way. I tend to crush on characters more than actors most of the time anyway. RSL is incredibly appealing and adorable as Wilson, and he is a really talented actor, but like Miss Violet said, we really don't know much about him in RL. I have a pretty big crush on Dr. Wilson, but anything that I feel towards RSL is basically because he's the one playing the character. Stories & anctidotes that people tell about RSL are amusing and entertaining though, and he does seem like a very down to earth, kind of quirky type of guy based on his interviews. Weirdly enough I find him far more attractive and cute as Wilson than as himself. Maybe I just don't care for the glasses. :p

I think my heart stopped beating for a moment before fluttering wildly at how sexy RSL looks in that picture. *drools* No-one wears rolled-up sleeves like RSL, he makes even a sweater vest sexy. I too would love to see some casual!Wilson on the show. Wilson in jeans, or boxers and a tee, now that would be delightful.

And the clothes they put him in on the show are always soo ugly.

Not always. Wilson in a tux. Wilson in a mcgill sweatshirt. Wilson in scrubs. The white Doctor's robe looks good on him, and he had some snappy suits in seasons 1+2. *going to de-melt in an ice bath*
