Well, I know the big topic in the OT thread is all of the amazing soccer/football action over in Europe, but I feel it would be nice to start off this thread with a small "woot" of congratulations to the Boston Celtics for winning the NBA championship, if for no other reason than that they have a player named House on their roster. :D

The husband unit was very pleased with the Celtics win. Reason 1 is that he HATES the Lakers about as much as he hates the Yankees(and that's a lot) the second reason was that the ESPN pundits were all too busy kissing the Lakers/Bryant's ass and dismissing the chances of the Celtics with a 'but there is always Kobe'.
How about them Cubbies btw, anyone here thinks they might actually beat the curse this year?

Arshavin probably added $10M to his transfer price this week...
Cubbies don't seem to have a whole lot of competition in the NL Central...Reds have beaten the Yankees twice in two days with excellent young pitchers. I suppose this means both will be traded before the all star game and the mediocrity in Cincy will continue...sigh...I grew up racing home after school to watch the Big Red Machine in the playoffs and "falling asleep" with the evening games on the radio.

Oh, Marykir, I'm sighing with you over the Reds.
With a teenage son and a sports-fanatic husband in the Big Red Machine era, I was soon drawn into the madness. Am no longer in Cincy, but I still cry over how far they have fallen. And Ken Griffery, Jr. I won't even start about my Bengals!

Thanks, it's a lot easier to deal with knowing that Russia was simply better. I can go and root for them now because of the Dutch coach, who I believe is the best coach in the world. I will never understand why the FA didn't want him for England. Hiddink seems to be able to make every team a success, he did it with Holland, South-Korea, Australia and with club teams as well.

I just wish he did it a little bit better with the Dutch, GG. It would be so nice to win something once every twenty years or so.
I honestly don't know who I will support now. I think I will switch to tennis, Wimbledon is my favorite sports tournament anyway. If it doesn't rain that is, I really don't want to see Cliff Richard or ballboys perform :cry: again.

It's actually a big joke among my friends. Being in Boston and whatnot, my friends on my Red Sox forum were always asking me if House was my favorite player on the Celtics. Of course now, I have to go and get said jersey just b/c of the :lol: :)
and RE: The Reds, I've seen Bronson Arroyo in concert 5 times. :)

What a great fun game Turkey-Germany was. At least that's what I heard, I think I saw about 15 minutes of the second half. Stupid weather.
Djokovic probably learned today that it's not a great idea to say Federer is looking weak and say that he might beat him, after going out in 3 sets today.

the germans played so bad... the goalkeeper of the turkish team was bad,too.. he made many little mistakes...particularly the second goal...
spain beat russia.... sunday the last match between germany and spain... I think, that spain win the game :D
