Word. I was so thrilled that she wasn't just using Wilson. Ugh, darn strike. I must see more of this couple. I must see more.
galaxygirl- 02-05-2008
I'm sowwy. I'm weak. They look good together. She makes him happy, and truth is that all I really care about is him being happy ;)
LightMyCandle I was happy as well that she wasn't using him but actually likes him and that made me like her even more than I already did.
LightMyCandle- 02-05-2008

Honestly, that's the main thing I care about too. If she makes him happy and she genuinely cares for him, then GO WILBER GO!!!
Taiga- 02-05-2008
I'm guessing that Wilson came across her while she was crying, trying not to care, after being fired. He took her somewhere quiet so she could compose herself. And he talked to her about House and why she wasn't chosen.
Wilson likes to be needed and making her feel better about the firing would have fulfilled that need.
You called it!
I was so happy with this ep. I hope they stay together. I hope we SEE them together. They seem good for each other.

I've brought this post and the next one over from the Spoiler thread for any further chat.
Have No Fear... there is No actual spoiler material in either one. This is pure speculation on the future prospects of W/A
I don't see her staying on for a long time (Cuddy would be pushed even further into the background) anymore than I see Amber as a long term partner to Wilson.
A lot of us have been saying that we think W/A will not last, that it cannot last damn it. That it will be part of an arc, like Stacy, and then crash and burn. This is certainly my hope but I've been giving it a lot of thought over the last few days and I‘m having trouble seeing why it wouldn’t work.
This is one long winded post on why I think Wilber will be with us indefinitely.
Wilson works best when he is with House and now he is with someone who is like House. The traits that House & Amber share can be annoying but Wilson has dealt with them for years (decades) with House so with Amber it isn’t anything he doesn’t already know how to overlook or even be amused by. In fact right now they are part of what he likes about her. Unlike House there is no addiction to further complicate the matters and push things to a breaking point. He also doesn’t have to work with her so he’s not getting an up close view 24/7.
Wilson says he and Amber have a lot in common. They are both doctors. They can understand the demands of the job and rather than one of them waiting at home (like Bonnie and Julie) there will probably be times when each of them has to wait for the other so they are less likely to feel that they are being taken for granted or to get lonely.
They have both been unlucky in love. Wilson married three times seemingly to women who needed comforting, Wilson offered friendship and the women upped the ante to sex, love and marriage. Each of which Wilson has called a mistake from I do. All of them eventually failing. Amber felt she had to choose between respect and love and always chose respect. (This to me was her real neediness, basically never having been loved before). Here she has found she can receive both from the same person and we know how good Wilson is at that. Wilson and Amber’s relationship went quickly from first dates to romance to living together in 4 weeks. While that may be leaping before they look they have been on a clear path from the start no sudden change of intent.
Amber doesn’t seem to resent or hate House. Feelings of animosity between House and Wilson’s wives seemed to be a point of contention in his marriages. Bonnie resented House by the time she and Wilson had just married. Julie hated House although we can’t say if that was an early development or one that took place over time. As of now Amber seems cool with House. She is over the loss of the fellowship because she now has Wilson and in a sense House brought them together. Without the lengthy Game job interview Amber and Wilson may never have met or had time to spark an interest in one another. You have to think that when House chose Amber to page right before the electrocution and then she resuscitated House saving him that Wilson certainly took note of her.
When House showed up on their dates unannounced (twice) she stayed calm and unflustered. The second time she invited him to join them so he could observe them. She seems to already know that with House best to keep him close rather than push him away. She seems willing to accept that House is important to Wilson and Wilson to House and does not want to come between them.
I get the feeling this is something like what Stacy did when she was with House.
Amber has the potential to be Wilson’s Stacy. (Let’s just hope Wilson never has any serious medical problems!)
For the show in general this is the best of both worlds. They have confirmed that House and Wilson are a couple. House may even now realize that he has romantic possibly sexual feelings for Wilson but he waited too long. The show is either squeamish at the idea of a full blown relationship between the two or just not ready for it yet. Not wanting to deny what most of us see has being plainly shown since the beginning they have given us the next best thing, Wilson has found a female proxy for House.
House cannot interfere because if he does it would likely cause the end of his and Wilson’s relationship. And like with Stacy even though House realizes that he loves Wilson and wants to be with him exclusively he still feels he cannot be the person Wilson needs to be happy. He cannot change himself to that extent at least not now. So as he did with Stacy he is letting Wilson go to someone that he knows values him and has the potential to make him happy. At least here he gets to keep Wilson with him as well.
When it has to have them this show seems to thrive on off stage relationships. Wilson was married to Julie for almost two years we never even saw a picture of her. (If a photo of Amber shows up in Wilson's office hang on it's going to be a long ride). Julie came up in conversation between House and Wilson. House constantly seeking out signs that the relationship was crumbling (as I’m sure will happen here). But it didn’t get in the way of anything H/W, it reinforced the closeness of H/W and Wilson’s inability to end a relationship that was clearly headed South.
Chase & Cameron with the FWB arc were center stage for awhile (4 episodes was it) Since they’ve became a couple we've had only small glimpses of them together, words of confirmation of affection, (“I like him better this way, don’t you.”) even confirmation that Chase is contending with Cameron’s still existing crush on House. But basically their relationship is not part of the plot anymore, it’s wallpaper, and that’s how this show likes it. The contented need not apply. Since Amber is not on staff at PPTH that will be no problem. AD can guest star occasionally other times she will be dropped into the conversation and that will be that.
Marriage... could be. Wilson is the marrying kind he did it three times when the person seemed less than ideal so I thinks it’s perfectly realistic that given this more ideal person he could eventually want to do it again.
BTW Amber also fits into the show’s giving Wilson a Vertigo complex. Unable to have the person he really loves he finds another similar person and makes her over in his lover’s image so he can continue his obsession. Of course that didn't end very well did it.
So where does this leave House. Professionally he is still fine. Wilson will still be right next door and available when needed no matter what the hour to provide House with the epiphany he must have for his patient and himself.
Friendship wise he is also still fine. Wilson will never not be House’s friend. 3 marriages, Stacy, infraction, pills, pain, a shooting, cops, lies, pranks, whatever else they will always have each other because they will always need and want each other.
That leaves personally and it would seem that what House needs now is to find a female Wilson so perhaps Cate will be back from her 6 months and do some thawing out in Princeton. Or for a brief encounter Cuddy.
I did come up with reasons that could end them but I always managed to talk myself out of them. I'll post them seperately.
filex1410- 02-08-2008
I first got into this because I was trying to think of ways that they would end Wilber but none of them seemed right.
Please show me the error of my ways because my shipper heart is breaking a little.
The two most likely scenarios:
1) House will monopolize Wilson’s time to such an extent that Amber will feel second best demanding that Wilson choose between them. House does still require a lot of Wilson’s time but since the end of the Tritter arc it has almost all been at work. They did have Valentine’s Day breakfast but this year they may have to settle for lunch. Wilson has been on his own with all this time to kill, was completely available around the clock and yet they were never seen or spoke of socializing. No dinners at House's place or Wilson's hotel room, No pizza and a movie (Wilson did ask House.) No monster trucks, House wouldn’t even go to the play with Wilson (Dunce). No Christmas Eve Chinese.
Instead poor Wilson is sitting at the Marriott watching Tivoed telenovas. Amber and Wilson can have a personal and possibly a social life without House who shows no interest in that. House will still be able to have as much of Wilson’s time at work and Wilson will still be able to hang with House through the difficult cases and his crisises. Being a doctor and a supportive partner (if she can be that) Amber will understand. If not this could play into the possibility of Wilson disappointing her in some overriding way part of the he's there for you, and it’s great, until one day's he's not. But House is making strides in standing apart from Wilson so it minimizes the chance of this happening.
2) Amber will become too needy. Having House to also contend with Wilson will be run ragged and before they pull out the chalk he makes the decision to end with Amber because he cannot leave House. Possibly even likely given Cuddy’s speech. However Wilson has a ton of staying power. (If House is the long distance runner of need, than Wilson is the long distance runner of handling other people’s needs) His relationship with Julie took two years to die on the vine so imagine how long he’ll be able to sustain a flawed but basically contented relationship.
He ain't asking for the Moon, he already has the stars. (Bette Davis hee. BTW Gay Icon)
Everything else I could come up with, OY!
The relationship could peter out. He’s enjoying himself now with her something he hasn’t done with a partner in a very long time. It may not be enough in the long run, there may not be a lot of depth, but Wilson seems to be a pretty easy to please guy.
Wilson may not love Amber to the extent she thinks. He hasn’t used the word yet but that could be from being gun shy, cautious and only a month in. We’ve never heard him tell House he loves him although we know he does. He’s never even called him his best friend. He did say that he loved Julie and that seemed to be the kiss of death. For all that Wilson loves to analyze and talk he doesn’t really like to say much about himself. The two things he did say that were forceful was that he is Happy, something we know to be very important to Wilson and “Amber is exactly what I need.” A statement of real confidence.
Wilson has previously spoken of having only two things he values His work and his stupid screwed up friendship with House. He now knows that he never really valued any of his wives because he said they were a mistake from I do. Here is something from the very start that he feels is right for him. “Wow.” Could it sour, sure relationships do all the time but they are off to a great start.
Wilson may not be able to commit to one person, although he’s managed quite fine with only one friend for going on 2 decades.
Amber could push for marriage in a way that scares Wilson. Maybe.
Or Wilson could push for marriage and noting his grand track record Amber just says no. Doubtful.
Amber’s CT ways and fear of being wrong will come back and she will not be able to be the open available person that Wilson needs. Insecurities can be hard to overcome and Amber does have them. She’s feeling very good about things right now but that could falter as the relationship becomes more serious.
Amber may go somewhere Wilson does not care to follow for professional reasons. Possible, but not likely It’s kind of cliché mostly to write people out of a show.
House may surreptitiously challenge the validity of the relationship when it comes to truthfulness. Nobody knows as much about Wilson as House does. Can Wilson tell Amber everything that he has done and still have her love and loyalty the way he gets from House. The illegal medical marijuana, the, sleeping with a terminal patient, the helping with an assisted suicide of a patient, recommending House use a prostitute and making a call to one himself (I don’t even know if House knows that one) Not sure wilson would go through with this.
House could also require Wilson in a way unforeseen if he were to go through some huge crisis but House is in fact getting better, less pain, fewer pills, excursions into the realm of interaction with other people. Okay he still takes too many chances with his life and his health and one day he could trip a near fatal wire but it would be a onetime situation. He bounced back from that shooting damn quick. Amber hasn’t been around enough to know just how demanding House can be so even an improved House could still make her feel that she is not getting all she needs from Wilson. A House with a massive setback could break it completely.
But other than that I can only think of one thing that could end W/A and that is bona fide H/W
Any reason that W/A would have for ending would have to relate in some way back to House. Just like their getting together did. Wilson could come to realize that it is House that he really wants to be with a close facsimile will not do... House is healthier, if House’s bad qualities recede then they may stick out more like a sore thumb on Amber. He’s given Wilson his freedom and all the good qualities that are in Amber belong to House but he has them 10x brighter.
We know the person who came between Wilson and at least one of his marriages made Wilson feel funny, good and he didn’t want to let that feeling go. Many of us think that was House, other’s another woman. If it was House Wilson may find that it is still with him that he feels best. The more House becomes like the person he was earlier in their friendship and pre-infarction the more that feeling may return and pull Wilson back to House making Amber unnecessary. The worry and the discomfort of sitting around together mired in misery no longer will exist. Wilson can see them having a happy life together and if that is available to him he will not be able to resist it. Nice way to close out a series perhaps.
There’s a long way to go and the writers are much more clever than me so I’m sure there are possibilities I haven’t even considered. I didn’t consider Amber for Wilson and they obviously did from the get go.

Your put some serious thinking in your posts filex. As we wait for wary's comments-which I'm sure will be really interesting- here are my own humble thoughts on only the first paragraph of what you said.
Okay so, it's canon that Amber is the female House. What I've been wondering is this. Is Wilson capable of having a second-albeit healthier-House in his life? Maybe he's willing, but is he up for it? I mean yes, he's used to dealing with the negative/annoying aspects of House's personality. That doesn't mean he can handle the same aspects in someone else in addition to House.
With House-wether you choose to acknowledge the sexual attraction or not- they're above everything else friends. And in a friendship, it's easier to put up with the other's flaws than it is in a romantic relationship, at least for me.Unless of course you really love your partner, which I don't think is the case with W/A. You'll ask, if Wilson can't handle being romantically involved with Amber, how could he be with House (hypothetically, if you're not a shipper) , since they are so much alike. Again , they were friends first. I think it would be easier
DrSpaceman- 02-08-2008
Like I responded in the other thread, I can see them coexisting happily if Amber acknowledges House's importance and vice versa (which seems to be the deal so far). The way I can see W/A breaking up is if Amber tries and make Wilson choose: Wilson knows House already sacrificed and didn't make Wilson choose, so I can't see Wilson tolerating it from Amber anymore than from House. But as with House, if Amber doesn't do that, and supports Wilson in his relationship with House (as opposed to what we're led to believe the other wives did) she could last.
It's also possible that Wilson, now there's no longer conflict between Amber and House, will be free to see Amber as herself and not just hold on because he's in a tug of war with House. Now that House has stepped back Wilson can't blame House for things anymore and doesn't have to be defensive. He just has to be Amber's boyfriend, and will he do that? I think he does like her, but I don't think he loves her yet. He's good at making people feel good, and as Bonnie said you fall under that spell and get hooked. Amber to me looked hooked already.
galaxygirl- 02-08-2008
Amber looked most definitely hooked and can you blame her ;)
LightMyCandle- 02-08-2008
I agree that Amber looked hooked. Lucky CTB. I don't think Wilson is quite in love with her yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if he's well on his way. He did look very smitten when she was able to get them seated. I can see them lasting a while because House has given him the freedom to be with Amber without losing him. Wilson can have both and while I don't think it's stupidly ever after at this point (if it were the last season, then maybe) I think things can go smoothly for a while and I think Wilson deserves that. Right now, I'll start small. I want to hear a one on one conversation between them without House around. I don't know how much we'll get of them as a couple because Amber does not work at PPTH, so most of Wilson's scenes will probably still be with House but maybe she can stop by for lunch now that they don't have to hide from House.
filex1410- 02-08-2008
I think he does like her, but I don't think he loves her yet. He's good at making people feel good, and as Bonnie said you fall under that spell and get hooked. Amber to me looked hooked already.
After my freakishly long philosophical treatise on why W/A will last I went over to the Hoyay thread to get some religion and came back with this thought that swings me back to the other side (Heh, I’m House :D ) and it fits into what you are saying DrS.
If Wilson is looking for another House then perhaps it is a friend he seeks more than a lover. Wilson tells House that Amber is exactly what he needs. Let’s face it, this Man needs a friend. And he has for a long time. I mean a friend besides House. Someone he can go out with, share an apartment without being driven crazy or mocked, not be worried about all of the time and someone to relax with and have some fun.
Amber is the one that speaks (to House) of seeking love, seemingly for the first time. That I think is her real neediness
(one that Wilson doesn’t even know about) not the fact that she was fired but that she says she has never been loved before.
Wilson’s language about Amber so far sounds more companionable, even when facing a direct question. In the Cuddy scene when she asks, “You two are really that serious”, he doesn’t say yes. He says, she’s pretty, funny, aggressive and he’s happy and can’t he just enjoy what that feels like for awhile. That’s all well and good but it isn’t really the answer to her question. The proper answer to that question is either yes, no or I don’t know. What he has given is an explanation of why it may be yes, no or I don’t know.
We just don’t know which answer he’s explaining and I don’t think he knows yet either.
In Frozen when he speaks of having slept with Amber, he replies very flaly to House's incorrect assumption, "I closed the deal, I just like her." No hint of a smile or fondness plays across his mouth or eyes. It's has if he's just said, "I signed some papers at my lawyer's office, it was a fine day." This is an odd tone from a man who has not had sex probably since S1. (not counting Grace or maybe even Robin) There should be some expression of happiness there, a bit of a thrill and it's just blank. Sad.
We know from Bonnie that woman have fabulous sex with Wilson, why does he seem so detached? I'm beginning to think that for Wilson sex is an extension of his medical skills. He brings all of his abilites to bear to make the person he is with feel better. The pleasure he gets is in their comfort but he isn't really connected to it, it doesn't touch him deeply.
(BTW Mods the line is "I closed the deal." I checked twice. should the thread title be corrected?)
I also found interesting the body language in the restaurant in DEC. W/A are standing at that tall table waiting to be seated and they are standing across from one another facing each other like bookends. They are not standing next to each other; they are not huddling close together to speak intimately in a crowded, noisy room, heck they aren’t even holding hands. They each have their hands folded in front of them. This is a couple who are newly intimate with each other (which should mean they can’t keep their hands off of each other) on the very day he has just moved in with her. Yet there is this gap between them literally and possible figuratively. They look like they could just be friends or colleagues there and perhaps that is a sign of things to come.
Wilson's previous relationships with the wives all started out as friendships that were pushed by them into being romances.
Perhaps W/A will take the opposite tract, a romance that settles into being a mutual friendship.
As a friend Amber will still receive love and respect from Wilson. House can tell her how amazing that can be. So can the exs since according to House Wilson has remained friends with all of them. Pattern anyone?
In the last House and Wilson scene in DEC upon realizing that House is going to free him up Wilson says, “I could form a long term connection that isn’t with you.” Not exactly the words of a poet in the midst of a passionate liaison. They are however the words of man seeking new facets in what has been an almost completely closed off existence.
I have to say it… I feel better.A million edits to get the dialouge and my thoughts correct.
Hail the Random- 02-08-2008
What I think(and you will probably all hate me for it)is that Amber originally started dating Wilson to get to/back at/in the vicinity of House, but then she fell under his spell and said "screw it" to her plans of House-ness.

ITA, also no matter how similar they may be they are not exactly the same person and no one and nothing can really compare to House.
