Hail the Random- 11-13-2007

Hee. During the episode my mom leaned over to me and said, "He is pretty, isn't he?" Me: "Who?" Mom: "Chase." Me:

Maison- 11-13-2007

Your mom is right. Chase is pretty. So. Very. Pretty....*drools* I'm glad he got more screentime tonight. I've missed my baby.

ikilledkenny- 11-14-2007

I loved how nervous he was with the cameras but when it was time to be a doctor he got all confident again. And wow how much I love Wilson for the gay!Foreman being stupid around chase comment? That one made me happy.

More Chase this episode!! Though I will admit I am a pessimist and thought we might have used up our obligatory 45 seconds of Chase in the teaser. Chase being nervous around the cameras was quite adorable. Finally, we got a (small) scene with Chase and House. House making fun of Chase for not being himself made me smile. I've missed their interaction so much. Even though we got more Chase screen time, I thought that he should have been more involved since it was his case. I've read that other people are happy with Chase being in surgery, but I don't think I'll ever be happy with what TPTB have done unless they bring Chase back to diagnostics. On a side note is Chase even qualified to be performing plastic surgery on the kid?? Unless this is a skill he picked up over the summer, I don't think intensivists/diagnosticians usually perform this type of surgery... The locker room scene made me so sad for Chase. I know Cameron treating him poorly parallels with the way he was treated by his father, but still I thought maybe Cameron changed after the way last season ended.

Hee. During the episode my mom leaned over to me and said, "He is pretty, isn't he?" Me: "Who?" Mom: "Chase." Me:  LOL! At least it was your mom who said that. My (as far as I know completely straight) brother even calls Chase pretty- and in a non-sarcastic way. And how bad is it that 2-3 minutes of Chase is considered more screentime? Finally, I gotta say that Wilson's comment totally has me itching for some Chase/ Foreman scenes. I miss those two together so much.

Ok so we had 20 seconds of Chase instead of the usual 10 seconds! It's twice more but still REALLY not enough. Beside, it was a little weird to see him being (one of) the lead surgeon of the case. It was also very weird that 13 was the only one to think there was something wrong with the patient because House thought so. Chase is usually the one like that (cf. Meaning last year or even FJ). So Chase is more confident now but, for me, he just seems not really interested in the diagnostic. Or have I to watch the episode again? Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy there were more Chase, I loved his look in front of the camera, I loved Wilson's comment about Foreman. But his role is still unclear. And I don't think it will get clearer soon. I love, I REALLY love this character. If he wasn't there, I wouldn't be that interested in the show but, I have serious doubt about his utility right now. Chase is still detached from the diagnostic team when Foreman is part of it and Cameron said she missed it and there are potential new ducklings. Since Wilson is House's best friend and Cuddy the Boss. What's exactly Chase purpose? It is to be Cameron's boyfriend? Of the three old ducklings, Chase's probable (future) position is still very obscure to me and that frightens me. Beside, I really hope they won't get in the "Cameron loves House" way again. Right now, I think she is over him. She just like him. But her scene in front of the mirror with Chase in the room was very weird.

Namaste- 11-14-2007

I never thought that Chase was the lead surgeon. They were just using him as the pretty face to explain the procedure (right down to the documentarian telling him what to say). It's another hit on the list of deceptiveness taking place throughout the episode -- the person who looks like a monster isn't, the guy who's a misanthrope is edited to look like Patch Adams, the beauty is actually dumb, the rash is hiding ... and the guy they use for the voiceover is actually the least experienced surgeon in the room (but looks good on camera).

Of the three old ducklings, Chase's probable (future) position is still very obscure to me and that frightens me. I'm scared about this too. I know that we can't expect much Chase time in the near future, but if this is not eventually resolved I may stop watching the show. This season is so far from the show I fell in love with. If Chase remains in surgery there's no reason for JS to continue to be on the show and that makes me sad. Keeping Chase on the show for a few moments when one of House's patients needs surgery is pointless.

Of the three old ducklings, Chase's probable (future) position is still very obscure to me and that frightens me. Yeah, it kinda scares me too. But after this week I think it's clear that Cameron doesn't really miss working in the diagnostic department as much as she misses working with House and also I really think it's because we didn't get a lot of Chase this season ( and that's because of the newbies arc). I think it's actually nice to see the House/Chase dynamic when he's not working under him anymore, they're just not really using it. I loved the bits we got so far like the scenes in "the Right Stuff", "97 seconds" and "Mirror, Mirror" and it was so much better than any scene with Foreman or Cameron this season, IMO. I thought it was also nice to see Chase not being so confident in the last episode. :D

Yeah, it kinda scares me too. But after this week I think it's clear that Cameron doesn't really miss working in the diagnostic department as much as she misses working with House and also I really think it's because we didn't get a lot of Chase this season ( and that's because of the newbies arc). I'd like to see Chase better woven into the storylines and I don't see how that can happen if he's just the surgery guy. But I don't think it's clear that Cameron doesn't miss working in diagnostics, only misses House. In fact, given that she was examining some guy's ass at the time, I thought it underscored that she actually DID miss working diagnostics and that thought came out as "I loved Dr. House". (Because I sure didn't see it as romantic in its wistfulness at all.) I'd be curious as to how Chase deals with that missing the diagnostics part of his life as well. I can't believe its for nothing that he would have made all those intuitive leaps last season just to be cutting into people this season. The fact that he didn't see the discoloring of the infection site while 13 did has to gnaw at him a bit. It made him look more like season 1 Chase who regularly overlooked clues that others picked up on or just answered for the sake of answering.

vitawash99- 11-14-2007

I expect that it would gnaw at him a little, because he might think of it as the kind of catch he used to make. And it probably should. Chase's choice of position at the hospital is interesting, because it seems to me to be the least likely place to flex diagnostic muscles. I think Chase has a tendency to walk away from things that have hurt or disappointed him in some way. Even if he still feels tied to them, he sort of removes himself because it's easier to function that way. Part of what made his pursuit of Cameron striking was that he really stuck with it instead of disappearing to lick his wounds. I also liked that while Chase might theoretically look good on camera, he was decidedly not telegenic in his performance for the filmmaker.

SpreadTheWord- 11-14-2007

Was the discoloration 13 noticed only noticable because she had seen the kid in person and in the pictures and noticed the differance or just because it was blatantly obvious and Chase didn't notice because she was saying his lines? Was Chase out of the loop or the class dip? Or is it open to interpretation? "He is pretty, isn't he?" My mom just looks at me funny when I say this and points out on a regular basis that he's not that attractive. Oh, how mistaken she is. :D

Hail the Random- 11-14-2007

he's not that attractive. *gasp* Lies! Lies!

Bedawyn- 11-14-2007

It was also very weird that 13 was the only one to think there was something wrong with the patient because House thought so. Chase is usually the one like that That bugged me a lot. I'd have forgiven them much this season, and been muchly reassured for the future, if they'd had Chase spot the something odd, but really that wouldn't have made sense, given that he'd spent so little time with the patient. But even just having his expression and voice show a little more faith in House would have made a big difference. But he also knows House isn't always right (and House himself says he was being an idiot this ep), so I'm going to explain it away to myself as Chase just still trying to distance himself. Cameron's actions didn't really bother me -- I took her amusing stupidity as more camera-induced than Ham-induced, and I don't think it told Chase anything he didn't already know. It was just one more brick in the wall, and the higher it gets, the closer he'll be to dumping her, which I'm looking forward to. I've read that other people are happy with Chase being in surgery, but I don't think I'll ever be happy with what TPTB have done unless they bring Chase back to diagnostics. I was happy with it when we thought he was supposed to be an intensivist attached to surgery, but overall he's been shown acting as a surgeon, which just makes me think TPTB are being sloppy and don't care about his character. And I would really like to see him acting as a diagnostician again, but I don't see that playing out the way the format is set up right now, especially with Foreman in the role he is now. Chase would be better off in diagnostics at another hospital -- and unlike Foreman at Mercy, I'd actually be happy to watch that. But I just don't see any believable way to get him back to diagnostics at PPTH, short of Foreman and House getting run over by a truck. I can't believe we're six episodes in, and they still haven't given us any hint of what he thinks he's doing in surgery or how/if he and House have reconciled the firing. I desperately want to see some public acknowledgment from House that he has professional faith in Chase.

JS must feel useless (ok it's great to have some days off but month off must be really annoying). I'm wondering what writers are thinking when they're working:  "Oh zut! we forgot Chase/JS";  "It's ok! Don't worry, just made him drink his coffee" :!: "But he isn't in the room?" .... "Made him scrub in and and show him working during 10 seconds and copy/paste it during hum... 10 episodes and then we'll see" Gnarkgnarkgnarkgnark
