So we still don't know 'the reason'. I know it's rude to pry, but the inner voyer in me is quite intrigued by the reason he went home.
Not rude in my book! Screw all this "respect his privacy" crap! I wanna know! I'm going to hell by the rockiest road!!
Ok so did he show up for work today or what??
ETA: I'm STILL a med student?! When am i going to be allowed to play with the big kids? You're still a big player to me!!

So - back on topic a la Hugh:
I've been looking, but I haven't found out anything.
iamdaffodils- 10-30-2007
The only "proof" I have that he was back at work yesterday, is that I didn't get 152 Google Alerts saying that he didn't return as expected and "rumors are rampant". So I'm going to take that as a positive sign. :D

Someone over on the Fox forum posted this article which claims Hugh went home because his depression is back. It sounds like crap to me and I sure hope it's not true. It sounds like they just strung a bunch of old news together.

Well, pretty much all of those things are true, but that doesn't mean it was the reason he went back home all of a sudden.
Though if it were the reason....good on him for recognizing he needed an intervention on himself.
amysusanne- 10-30-2007
Regardless of the actual reason that Hugh went home this past weekend, that write up is based on the US magazine write up online which took the quotes from the Sydney paper and reformatted them so that they'd support the theory that he went home because he was depressed. Given that the article *ran* this weekend and wasn't actually conducted this weekend, there's no direct connection between the quotes there and his flying home. It's just a nice little tie in for the infotainment shows and glossy tabloids which need a jumping off point for whatever is going to show up in the print editions this Thursday. I imagine it'll be more speculation along those lines until the either lose interest (hopefully) or take an alternate route. I imagine that Hugh and his publicist are probably not going to be commenting on the issue unless they absolutely have to.
eta: that was in response to DOB's post and not bailey's post. directed towards DOB it's an explanation, but directed towards bailey it seems like sort of a snotty response. just clarifying to reduce the snot factor. {g}

A friend sent me the same article from People.
If the problem were depression, I fail to see how spending 48 hours in England (plus another 24 hours in transit) would alleviate it.

Whatever! Bitch!
Actually, in my zeal to post FIRST! I didn't go into the detail that you did, anyway. It's hilarious how publications latch onto the most recent interview and pick/choose quotes to bolster their assertation.

But he misses his family soooooooooo much
When I have a depressive episode, the last thing I'd want to do is cope with air travel. My family would have to come to me!
I agree this looks very much like a case of adding 2+2 and getting 5.

Did you guys see the RSL q&a in tv guide yet? How much do I love the image of Hugh sticking his fingers in his ears and humming "London Bridge" while a House clip played in the background?? A lot....cause it's just funny.
I wonder what he did at ITAS!!
filex1410- 10-30-2007
I was at the ITAS taping, Hugh was nowhere near that bad. At first he didn't turn to watch a couple of the clips, (they were being projected behind him) but he could clearly hear them. He drank some water during them or just kept his head down. But he did turn during at least two or three of the clips to watch some (the first one of those was w/ he & RSL). There were no fingers in his ears or singing to himself.
Now these were older clips (I think almost exclusively S1) so maybe that made it easier. I was focusing on him because I had already heard about his reaction at times (I think he did the covering his ears thing live on air during an MSNBC interview way back) and I was curious what he would do. It wasn't as if he was eager to see them but it didn't seem to cause any severely adverse reaction.
Maybe some times it’s easier for him to watch/listen than others. Like a phase he goes thru every now and again.

It probably has more to do with the fact that he was sitting in front of an audience for the Actor's Studio interview. When he's not the focus of attention (no camera, just sitting in the audience) he can much more visibly "tune out."

This made me laugh and then choke on my Dum Dum Strawberry Sour Chewy Pop! Thanks a lot, Bailey.

I'm going to also voice my annoyance at the redistribution of the aussie article quotes to try and explain away Hugh's recent disappearance... Makes me worry we'll never know and I hate not knowing.
Really as a fan of the show, I am now curious about puzzles and things that are interesting. The show made me this way, so I should'nt be yelled at for wanting to know, or any of us for that matter. This doesn't make me a bad person.
