olivia, he should be on the list. What do they pick -- the 50 sexiest? But no chance he'll be People's cover boy for that issue. And he'd hate it if he were.
As to the other, oh my goodness. Hugh Laurie told his boss he needed to take 3 days off. What is the world coming to?
No this is for the sexiest man alive thing. Not the 50 sexiest. And hell yeah he should be! Trust me, you'll get no arguments here!
Yes, he'd be mortified. He's the sexiest man to me, but I wouldn't want that title for him. He'd hate it, prolly.

And "flocked" just = "friends locked".
 I was thinking, her post has a velvety pattern around it?
Well, I thought it was funny, YMMV.
I hate to be a dumbass, but what does YMMV mean?
Re: the whole scheduling thing, its only recently I learned how complicated and costly it was to delay/alter it. I used to think, what's the big deal, but after "studying" this show, I realize what a serious thing it is. Before I would think, "why don't they let him have several (unscheduled) days off here and there?"
I would hate to have a job where so much depended on me.

YMMV = your mileage may vary
If you get HDNEt Movies and want to have a go at locating Hugh, Stephen, and Kenneth Branaugh in Chariots of Fire, it is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 1st 10pm eastern, 7pm pacific, with a repeat later that night and the following Monday.
The same channel is showing Monty Python's Meaning of Life overnight (next) Friday. Surely that's had some influence on Fry & Laurie :)
How the heck did it get to be almost November anyway?

Our friend Allan Wigney at the Ottawa Sun made good on his promise. His column, titled "Time For Some Humble Pie," is one big apology for last week's blunder. And he made a donation to Save the Children as penance.

Well done, people. I hope HL appreciates we've got his back ;)
Poeia- 10-27-2007
I felt, as I wrote to complain, that I had to write to say that I thought it was a very classy (and much appreciated) apology.

Australian interview Just stumbled on this, which says it's HL's first Australian interview since House started:

And here's a variation of it, with slightly different quotes:

Thanks, sherlockjr. I especially liked this quote (which I can totally hear in HL's plummy tones):
"I then read the whole script and thought, 'F---, this is great. He is the main guy."'
olivia720- 10-28-2007
He thought the main guy has to have "great hair." hehe.
Cute article, wish it was longer.

That's a nice interview! I just don't understand how Hugh can work like that though...how does he keep up the intensity when he goes home at the end of every day feeling like he turned those scripts that he loves so much into a disaster by making so many mistakes?? I know this is nothing new and he's been on the doom kick since ABOFL like Jon Canter said but still...I don't know where he gets the energy to keep going back for more when it leaves him feeling like such a failure. I had a job that I really sucked at once (but for real...not just that I thought I sucked at it) and I knew it and every day I went home feeling trashed. It didn't last more than 3 1/2 years I can tell you that!
I'm glad he keeps it up cause I love House as much as anybody here but damn...that's a tough way to work.
the_xarlster- 10-28-2007
Who says we write to him and ask him to join HHOW to cheer him up?
*tick tick tick*
....... actually .....
edit due to confusion: NOT A SERIOUS POST. sorry for not making clear!
Boffle- 10-28-2007
HL here? Not so much a great idea...if he saw the drool . the slash, and the personal comments, however favorably we mean them, he'd probably be horrified, pack up, go home and never leave his house again (or at least feel like it: if he feels like photos steal his soul, what would he think about message boards!).
Best that he continues with boxing, playing piano, playing tennis, and such. After all, he's done pretty well with his life up to now. (And I don't think he beats himself up about the work once he leaves the lot, drops the accent, and heads out on the motorcycle, at least not as much).
Jouse- 10-28-2007
I don't know about the rest, but I'm willing to wager on HL not being bothered by the slash, at the very least.
