Apparently Glenn Close has been nominated for Emmys 11 times and never won till now, so it's not that unusual. Kiefer won on his fifth nom. This was Cranston's fifth nom. HL is far from Susan Lucci who won on her 19th nom. This is only HL's third nom, so he realistically has more chances.

Not even close. Hugh would have to lose for 22 years straight to catch up with Susan Lucci. Right now, Hugh is more like the Scott Bakula of the Emmys. He was nominated 4 times and lost every time. ETA: Boffle apparently went to the trouble of, like, checking facts and stuff--so, yeah...Hugh just hasn't won yet. He's not the losingest guy ever or anything.

I didn't know that about Glenn Close, but I just used both Kiefer and Cranston as "all is not lost" examples. Of course, I also used Martin Sheen's "everybody but me" as necessary cynicism. {g} Which, btw, was hilarious because everyone watching with me said "except for me" just before he busted out that joke.

Thanks marykir for the Dominion eps. I got some laughs from these.

I didn't mean it literally, I was being facetious.

I read on goldderby last week that Bill Maher has the record for most Primetime Emmy losses - 18 I think.

MPython- 09-22-2008

OMG..this must be so frustrating...is he even going to the show anymore after like 18 times going there for nothing

Chipmunk_love- 09-22-2008

OMG..this must be so frustrating...is he even going to the show anymore after like 18 times going there for nothing Well, last night he wasn't there because he was sick. He was meant to be there before. If you go to the Emmys ONLY because you think you're going to win, then you're missing the point of the whole ceremony. The Emmys are meant as a evening to come together as a community and celebrate television. Yes, it's frustrating to not be recognized, but trust me, winning an Emmy is quite far down on his list of things to accomplish.

fffaw- 09-22-2008

Well, last night he wasn't there because he was sick. I think MPython was talking about Bill Maher not coming.

Chipmunk_love- 09-22-2008

Well, last night he wasn't there because he was sick. I think MPython was talking about Bill Maher not coming. Oh. Okay. I'm an English major, y'know; I've been taught how to read and everything.

We need a Hugh/flu update. The mother hen in me worries about him :)

At least Martin has an Emmy for another show, but I feel bad for him never to have won for playing President Bartlett. edited to add that it took Ted Danson 9 nominations to finally win for Cheers.

Just one more reason to be happy that House has apparently been extended again - may take that many years for Hugh to at last be honored.

I was about to check out that "So Much Blood" thingie on the bbc website, which marykir linked to up-thread, and realized that Real Player is required to listen to it. I uninstalled (or is it 'deinstalled'?) that a while ago, because I detested it so much. Is the audio program worth re-installing my Real Player? Does HL have a big role in it? Recommendations and opinions highly appreciated.

Oh my gawd! Hugh didn't get a producer credit for House he got an EXECUTIVE producer credit! All those news stories about his new contract mentioned a producer credit but also stated he was not getting the lucrative (I guess for syndication purposes?) executive producer credit. They were wrong. It was in tonight's credits: Executive Producer Hugh Laurie. I am so deliriously happy about this I actually feel kind of weird about it. Oh well, congratulations Hugh. You so deserve it.
