what happened to marykir's site? is it gone too, like hughlaurie.net ? been trying to load her site for the past 3 hours.

Boffle- 09-10-2008

Can't get to it either. ::lip wobbles:: marykir how are you doing?

Poeia- 09-10-2008

MaryKir's site is there for me. Maybe it was down for a little maintenance this morning.

Hugh_lover- 09-10-2008

Marykir's site is working for me right now. As for Terrence Mann, there is some resemblance in the facial structure - they both have strong jaws and longish faces - but that's it. I love Hugh's bone straight nose (Is it weird that I think he has a great nose?), perfectly set eyes that are oh so blue, his furrowed brow, and perfect, high cheek bones. All very different from Terrence. Terrence is okay, but Hugh...

what happened to marykir's site? is it gone too, like hughlaurie.net ? been trying to load her site for the past 3 hours. Oh, no! What happened to hughlaurie.net? Is it gone for good? How long has it been gone? :(

falling idol- 09-10-2008

About 2 weeks or so.

Boffle- 09-10-2008

IT was hacked, apparently and has to be rebuilt from scratch, I believe. All best wishes to hl.net webmistress for that hard work!

Jinete- 09-10-2008

MaryKir's site is up for me as well. I really hope that Hugh Laurie.net is back up and running soon. What's happened to the Devoted to Hugh site? I visited it this morning and got a shock!

Chipmunk_love- 09-10-2008

Marykir was down for me last night (figures... the one time I needed to look something up ), but the site's back up for me again. What is this, you say? You haven't seen enough pictures of Hugh from the Netflix Live concert? Well, then, here you are.

marykir- 09-10-2008

My web server stopped responding last night, and it took a while for the hosting company to get around to restarting it. Now that that company has a really complicated server farm, there's no way for me to reset my part myself :( hughlaurie.net apparently has to reload everything. All the pictures, etc., not just the pages. That would be a nightmare... The Devoted to Hugh website has been gone for a while. The webmistress left the forums up, but there wasn't anyone with complete admin control. So I think the people who were left there moved over to another forum? Or at least were thinking about it...

hughsblues- 09-10-2008

Sorry you're having trouble with it marykir! I hope it's up again working for you...and not giving you a headache...soon!! Check it out if you haven't already seen it guys...the extended version of Hugh's Rolling Stone interview from a couple years ago is here! Scroll down to click the link for the extended version. There's a little bit about House and a nice little blurb about the writer's experience meeting Hugh before you get to that though. The man really really seems to think he's excels at NOTHING. I know it's not new...but it never stops surprising me. One of these days maybe I'll just shrug it off as a Hugh thing but damn...

I think even Hugh would admit that he excels at being self-deprecating. One of the things about him is that he doesn't take his gifts for granted. He apparently works very hard to do great work. So, while it's a pity he can't enjoy it, if he ever did really realize how good he is, he might be tempted to coast a little which would be bad for us.

I'm thinking how there's a misunderstanding by many people that doing something supremely well is "easy." All the years devoted to developing a craft or skill, all the hours spent composing or crafting..... Hugh has a lot of gifts but if he didn't work extremely hard, he'd be just a talented person. That's one thing that separates the goods from the greats. And yes, thankfully for us, Hugh is compelled to work hard! Check it out if you haven't already seen it guys...the extended version of Hugh's Rolling Stone interview from a couple years ago is here! I am immediately impressed, but maybe shouldn't be, that he discusses a book by Pauline Kael, and makes a very thoughtful comment about Cary Grant versus Jimmy Stewart. But I'm having a problem with the idiom at the end of the interview. How do you understand "but I'm always hitting them with my third strength" ?? But golly, I just love the guy. And this was a nice interview - got the sense of Hugh-ness - I can almost hear him speaking. Edited by Fiddy - please combine your posts using the edit function instead of posting back to back. Thanks.

Heh. That interviewer has the opposite opinion of the "general consensus" in the fandom. The Daily Mail: Why Hugh Laurie hopes 'make or break' move to U.S. will save his marriage.

I'm happy to know that there's someone else who loves his nose. No, it's not weird to think his nose is great. It's beautiful, perfectly fit for a man's face. Personally I hate those curled-up noses many so-called hunks sport, but you know I have a sweet spot on men whose testosterone levels cannot be discussed, and HL surely is among them. It would be better appreciated if it weren't placed between those mesmerizing blue wonders! But please give it some of your loving attention. I've been struggling so far googling for a poetic description of Hugh's nose from Stephen Fry I read sime time ago, but couldn't find it. Has some forum member ever read it? I'm sure I have and will go on searching, believe it's worth the effort, but I'll welcome help.
