Add me to the HL is sexy list. I love House but I find Hugh just as attractive and sexy. He's got something, which he tries desperately to hide, and I want it!

Hi Cheers! Welcome! The more Hughfans the merrier. You might also want to check out the Introduction Thread in the 'Hirings and Firings:Real Life' section of the forum. This is where folks have been introducing themselves to the whole group.

Me too Bergmanesque, me too! (Love your avatar by the way.) As much as I love House, I think Hugh is even sexier when he's being himself. Of course it could be because I've had this longstanding "thing" about British accents. But regardless, I'm not sure you can fake sexy.

So do I. I don't know what it is, there's just something about them. Anyway, I do think that Hugh is sexy, House or no House.

Just wanted to comment on the conversation that's been going on in the episode thread about HL's guitar and piano playing.
Seems some folks aren't liking the guitar playing nearly as much as the piano. So here's the thing. When we've seen House playing piano, he was alone the first few times and it gave us a window into the "real" House, who he is when he's not "on". House may be like a lot of introverts, very much on stage when he's in his work arena but needing the quiet down time at home with his music to recharge. That piano playing was impressive as it showed us his talent but it also revealed his sensitivity and love of music. The end of Human Error gave us a guitar version with that sort of feeling as did the short riffs on the Les Paul at the end of Que Sera Sera: House playing music well and finding a refuge in his music. Even in Half-Wit, when he was playing his junior-high piece, the world receded while he was playing and he was essentially alone.
But when he played "I don't like Mondays" he was "on." When he played the cane air guitar, he was "on" in a performing kind of way. Playing the flying V, he was really "on" and I liked it a lot, but the "on" performing is likely the "a little goes a long way" type, while I could watch him play the Bach and the Oscar Peterson on a loop all day. So that might be the difference in why people like the piano more: it's been used to reveal his sensitive, quiet side while the guitar has been used, at least recently, to reveal his proto rock-star, aggressive side (as has the air cane). (Nonetheless, that playing while he was talking to Cuddy really *was* impressive.)

Boffle, for me I don't mind the guitar playing. In Alone, I felt like that was his way of avoiding the fact that he was a bit lost without his team or pretending that it didn't matter. And his playing in that scene with Cuddy was impressive. What I do have a problem with is those Fox promo cane guitar/IV microphone stand ads where they make the character out to be a rock star or whatever. Those are just cheesy IMO, and do a disservice to who the character really is.

I'm not crazy about most of this season's promo pics, but those are, imo, far better than the ones in the tub or the ones with the bandaids. Honestly, I don't see them as being that out of character given that he's played both air piano and air guitar in his office. I don't *want* to see House suddenly grabbing an IV stand and launching into "Heartbreak Hotel", but it wouldn't seem all that out of character given the above as well as his other various show off tendencies that bubble to the surface from time to time.

I don't care for the band-aid one either. The promo pics this season were disappointing for me too. I think the one I liked the most was the one where you can only see half his face. The Last Supper one and the one where he's holding the thermometer almost seem like they would have been more appropriate for last season - Wilson being Judas and the thermometer referencing Tritter.

I've never seen any of those, can anyone link me?
I love a lot of the promopics this season, but I like them cause they're different. I don't care about your generic 'moody mysterious House' portrait, because those are boring. I'm thrilled to have a picture of House with bandaids over his face, cause that's the kind of picture I can work with, and I actually bought a print of the photo of House in the tub'o'Vicodin cause I thought it was hilarious :innocent:

I could be wrong here, but I think most people who disliked the promotional pictures did so because they weren't natural. HL's usually expressive facial features were airbrushed to death! I'm all for sticking Hugh in a variety of odd poses (gutter!) but to destroy all the character in HL's eyes and face, that makes House so relatable, is heresy!

That my main reason for not liking most of the promo pictures for this season. Not only HL was airbrushed to death, they all were and I fail to see why because as you said, it takes away all character.

lin - here's the link for the S4 promo photos. Scroll down about mid-way. I think they're all there except the one with the IV/microphone stand which is on Fox's website.

Cold! Dead! Eyes! I think the award for Most Terrifying Airbrush Job in the season promo shots has to go The Last Supper one with the whole gang. But Hugh's airbrushing beats out everyone else's for Complete Loss of Character, IMHO. At least we don't have to wonder what his Madam Tussaud's wax sculpture will look like.
Although I do love the concept of the shot; it captures House's take on religion. "Eat this bread, this is my body. Actually, screw the metaphor. Eat this body. Also, I might need some help with the resurrection thing—anybody have an oxygen mask? I didn't recruit only fisherman did I? Surely one of you must have been a college admissions counselor."
It also reminds me of that Simpson's quote by Apu: "Why do I need the infinite compassion of Ganesha when I can have Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman staring with their cold, dead eyes!"

I understand the promo shots of him "singing" with the iv stand, cause House is very much like a rock star. He's rebellious, and a pimp/diva, and does what the f he feels like. So I can see the parallel there.
Ranee- 10-09-2007
The guitar thing does seem somewhat OOC for House to me - I wonder if its because he's on ADs & we'll find this out later.
