I'm totally wired now and there's no way I'm gonna fall asleep any time soon so I might as well just go watch it a few more times. Really...it's the sensible thing to do.
I realize that this will mark, like, the fourth thread that I've managed to drag "The X-Files" into, but by the middle of last week I had watched so many episodes that I started dreaming about David Duchovny. Nothing good, unfortunately, but I have high hopes that you had sweet Hugh dreams last night. If I could only learn to manipulate my dreams, Hugh and David would both be present with a little Lee Pace, Zach Levi and those "Supernatural" boys thrown in for good measure. If John Hamm or Patrick Dempsey want to visit they're more than welcome. I might issue an invite to James Franco as well. It's my party, right? Who cares if things get a little crowded in there...
I'm with you on the Hugh, David, Jon party. But I've been catching up on "Friday Night Lights" lately and hoping we can throw some Kyle Chandler in there, too. (He can bring the quarterback if we wants.)
OT moment: Damn, I can't think of a better select group of Emmy nominees. I really hope it's Hugh's year but absent Gabriel Byrne (since I've never seen "In Treatment") this is the first time that I can truly get why each person was nominated. Between Hugh, Jon, Michael, Bryan & Kyle....oh cow. They. Are. Awesome.
Okay, back to the fantasies...

Man, I had the worst time walking away from my laptop this morning. They always say that the first time away is always the hardest, and boy, were they right. Having to kiss "Such a Night" goodbye this morning before leaving for work... oh, the tears.
Hello. My name is iamdaffodils and I'm a Such A Night Video-Holic. It's been 2 hours and 32 minutes since I've last watched it.
eta - I just fell off the wagon. :)

luna Thanks for the link. Only problem is, I can't get it to work. It plays a couple seconds and then quits. I've tried Firefox downloader and three other browsers but the same thing happens. How did you get it to play? Also has anyone else seen the video luna has linked to? It sounds great!
DOB1234- 08-12-2008
Yeah, I can see it, with Firefox. There's only a very little bit of Hugh starting the song and the view is from well back in the crowd. I can't understand why the blogger stopped the recording since she said she was an HL fan. Maybe had to change batteries or something, I dunno. There's quite a bit of music after the brief bit with Hugh.

Boffle - It plays fine for me in IE, camera's shaky and shot from a farther distance than the Such a Night one, but it sounds great, and you get his intro on the keys of Such A Night which isn't in the other one, and is amazing.
eta - I didn't watch the whole 11 minutes, kind of skipped through, but I think that's all of Hugh that's in it. Seems to have more of Terri Hatcher than anyone else, but again I didn't really watch it all through.
luna_argentea- 08-12-2008
Oh dear, Boffle. How frustrating. I played it with Firefox on a Mac and it worked fine but I've just tried it again and it was very slow to load and stopped and started every second. Maybe it will work better later on. I hope you get it to work.
He obviously loves New Orleans piano and must have spent a lot of time listening to recordings. He actually sounds somewhat like Dr John while singing it (accent, intonation), I expect because he could hear Dr John's version in his head. It's hard not to really as he has such a distinctive voice. You mentioned he was playing with some of Dr John's sidemen. Do you know which ones they were?

Party hard amysusanne...that's my motto! I didn't sleep too many hours last night but I definitely had a Hugh dream! Well...no. It was actually a work dream...which sucks...but Hugh showed up...which is very possibly the best thing that could ever happen to me in my daily life!! We carpooled home!! And all I remember is him being in my car...but I'm sure that in dream reality it was a lot more exciting than that!

Seriously guys...it's not even normal how hooked I am on a four and a half minute video. It just makes me all kinds of happy...even watching it on mute! Which I haven't been doing today cause that would be distracting...
Thanks for the link to Hugh's intro luna!!

Okay is there some connection between the fact that when you think about someone way more than you should, you can't dream about them? I've had exactly one Hugh dream in the past few years, and that just doesn't seem right. The best part though is Stephen was in it, and we were sitting together watching a DVD of Hugh while I explained to Stephen all the things that make Hugh so great. Stephen just smiled and nodded politely at the crazy woman :)

Heh. Mine was an airport dream. That's just as bad as a work dream. I should point out, even though I mentioned that he would be invited at a later date, that Zach Levi was in that dream too. Only in passing, though. I was with a friend and we did the "hey, is that Zach Levi? Cool. Celeb sighting!!" and moved on. Duchovny was more dramatic. And kind of a bitch. Some kid yelled at him. It was weird when I was asleep and even weirder when I was awake. I told her (the friend, not the dream kid) about it later and she informed me that Zach was going to be at the Netflix thing. We wondered, given that she and Zach would both be there, if I was the missing piece of the puzzle required to get Duchovny there as well. But, alas...a dream not realized. Literally.

I still haven't done the FNL thing (it's on the list if I ever get done with XF and the planned "Homicide" marathon that's to come after I've completed the XF project), but there's enough residual good cheer towards him from "Early Edition" and his post-Super Bowl Grey's stunt appearance to warrant him several invites.

I've never seen "In Treatment" either. I wanted to when I heard a couple of the names involved, but given that there were just so damned many episodes I knew I wasn't going to make it. But, yeah...agreed on the rest. I have my fingers, toes and whatever else crossed in hopes that this is Hugh's year, but there would be much squeeing in my house if Bryan managed to pull out a win. What do you call the unlikely winner when the entire category is filled with underdogs?
Okay is there some connection between the fact that when you think about someone way more than you should, you can't dream about them? I've had exactly one Hugh dream in the past few years, and that just doesn't seem right.
I never have celebrity dreams either. I'm not sure that I've *ever* dreamed about Hugh, but if it's uneventful or uninteresting I tend to forget, so who knows. I think I only drew the Duchovny card because I had watched so many episodes in the span of just a couple of days. Like, there was nothing else happening that weekend, period. I couldn't dream about anything else because my brain was full of Mulder.
Boffle- 08-12-2008
luna, I don't know who the sidemen were, just read somewhere that the horn section had played with Dr John and others: maybe they are LA session guys, but I really don't know. I expect Hugh was both thrilled and nervous to be playing with them. They all did great and the BFTV bass player was really solid too.
Also, sorry to say I have had no luck getting that link to work and I have tried everything I can think of. If anyone can capture it so that we could download it from somewhere, that would be so very awesome!
hughsblues - your Hugh dream made me think about this song:

Don't sweat it iamdaffodils...I don't really have Hugh dreams either...and I'm not sure why that is! Hugh just made a brief and silent cameo last night. The dreams I seem to have the most...or at least the ones I remember most...are actually work related dreams. And I don't know why that is either. But it's usually me at work and then random people who have no reason to be there show up. I know nothing about dreams but I've convinced myself that it's my brain's way of making me feel better about my job by having other people who I like to be with come and hang out with me at work. :D I should have Hugh on the brain every night before I go to bed...that way maybe he'll make another cameo in my dreams and have a speaking (or singing) part!!
edit...Perfect song iamdaffodils!! I wish that could actually happen! Oh...and I don't know if I should be embarrassed about this or not...but I still have a cassette tape of Billy Ocean songs... 8)

boffle...I don't know how many different browsers you've tried at this point but did you give Safari a go? Sometimes that works for me when something won't open in any other browser! Good luck!!

I was able to open it Safari this morning, so it should work.

hughsblues - no, don't be embarrassed. I still have some cassettes lying around too. And I figured I was the only one here old enough to remember him!!!!!
Yes, those Hugh dreams are hard to make happen - obviously not based on how much you think about him.
