I'm not the most frequent tuner-inner of late night TV, but it seems like the subject of kids is a fair topic that gets touched upon. I just saw David Duchovny on....something....and he was all about talking up his kids and family. (Speaking of kids who probably hit the genetic jackpot.)
I am a frequent tuner-inner of late night TV and yeah...that topic is pretty much second only to the project that they're pimping. People are asked about their families, their wives, their kids, their girlfriends, their pets, etc. The Tom Hanksy folks are especially going to be asked about the fams when they have wives and kids who are in the business as well. It's not a strange question. Hugh's not really being singled out in any way on that one, he's being asked what many celebs get asked, most times out. It's an easy topic and when looking for anecdotes to tell on a chat show you usually can't go wrong with a mention of the kids.
Speaking of Duchovny, the funniest story I've heard on pretty much any late night show in recent history was the one he told on Letterman about his kid wanting to be Chinese and exclaiming, when he found out that he's part Russian, "i HATE that guy". And, you know, he sticks his butt up in the air. The kid, not Duchovny. It was bizarre and hilarious and makes me either want to hang out with the Duchovnys on a regular basis or make sure that I never accidentally move into their neighborhood. It's kind of a toss up, that one.
edited because i couldn't leave all of those their/they're errors.

I know this is silly, but I can't help it.
I'm sitting here at my computer and on my desk, to the left of my keyboard, is a special edition, summer 2007, copy of the Orange County Flyers program from the Band From TV appearance in July. Turn to page 9 and opposite the photo of the band are the autographs of the whole band, including of course, Hugh Laurie. I paid a ridiculous amount of money to the OC Flyers for this, but what the heck, it's all for charity, right? I can't stop giggling and chortling. Second childhoods are such a blast.

Scan, please? Pretty please.
And, no...charity or not, buy what you want, man. If it makes you happy and all the proceeds go to some guy in an office somewhere, it doesn't matter. It's only a ridiculous amount of money if it *doesn't* make you happy. :-)

I should know how to do this by now, but I don't. Scanning the pix into my computer is no problem, but I don't know the best way to show them here in the forum. Do I have to have something like Photobucket and post a link here, or is there a better/simpler way?

That's the best way to go. I use Photobucket for all the pictures I upload.

Like GG said, pbucket is definitely the easiest. If you don't want to bother setting us an account, just email a copy to me and I'll stick it in my account and send it back to you to post wherever you want. I keep my account password locked, so no one would see it unless you gave them to the diret link to that pic.

ETA: As you can see, Hayden Panettiere also signed. She was the guest vocalist that night at the BFTV show.

This news just came through via google alerts: pretty amazing story of the serious side of comedy. Hope the call for help at the end is heeded for the Moustache Brothers in Burma: that's some real bravery.

That is very cool. And Greg Grunberg's signature is frightening. It's nice that Hugh's is recognizable.

Cute program, DOB. The only problem I have is that I can't tell which is Greg's and which is Bonnie's. Jeez. The rest have readable autographs, but those two...interchangeable.

Interesting, Boffle.
It took me awhile to see the google alert connection. Until near the end of the article, I was wondering exactly what your google alert even was. Burma? Political dissent? Moustaches? And then it all became clear.
Their situation reminds me of the character Stephen played in V for Vendetta. Bravo for Hugh, et al, for publicizing them years ago. Hopefully they can/will again.

Yes! This is the interview I was referring to. Or the story, at least, he probably told it multiple times. I think I lean to wanting to hang out with the Duchovny's on a regular basis. I'm not really into threesomes, but you know, if they asked.... :-) I'd probably be blinded by all the pretty.

Re: Hugh's signature, I love how he just sticks that "e" on the end like an afterthought. hehe :)
Thanks for posting!

Hello Just thought I'd drop a not in this thread as I'm a huge HL fan. Olivia gave me the heads up that "The Other Board"members had migrated here to discuss HL.
Boffle- 10-07-2007
moved from the media thread to its new home:
Can I say here that I found Bertie Wooster sexy when HL played him and the sexy scruffiness (presentiments of House's scruffy sexiness...) of HL's character was the only thing I could tolerate about the live action version of 1001 Dalmations? I'm not a sicko, right?
ITA, sweet fern.
It's not a stretch to say that all of HL's characters come out of his emotional connection, understanding, observation, insight, wisdom and physical expressiveness.
The utterly delightful Bertie, the warped Steffi serenader, for that matter all the amazingly specific ABoF&L characters (Mr. Simnock! the pervy Little Girl singer), the gusto of the Prince, the earnest Lt. George, the quiet, fine Frederick Little, sweetly wicked Jasper, befuddled, hopeful Paul Slippery, lovely Sam Bell, driven, slightly mad Leo Hopkins, voracious Greg House: are all subsets, streaks, even, yes, bits of Hugh Laurie.
If he wants, he can certainly do sexy with the best of them, but it doesn't seem to interest him so much to show it himself, he'd rather have fun with it or comment on it, playing a character that has an attitude about it. Few act with more conviction than HL and that conviction and commitment to stick with the character and the idea, making no sop to vanity or conventionality, well that's just wildy sexy to me. Plus, of course, the eyes, the hands, the thinking, the funny, those insanely gorgeous legs...
