Clearly people haven't been reading Hugh google alerts :) This article says The answer is simple, according to Laurie's agent, Anthony Goff of Daivd Higham Associates: "Not only is Hugh Laurie's new novel not coming out in the UK this week, Hugh hasn't even started writing it!" Goff writes in response to my email query. "When he does," he adds, "I'm sure it will find a publisher in the US."

I've been on a google alert deleting frenzy lately because I'm so tired of the reprints and kind of bored with the new season reviews. That one, though...those two words jumped out at me in the little google abstract and I actually saved it. It's hilarious. Bless you Anthony Goff. It won't do any good, of course, because in a couple of weeks there'll be a new round of "I saw it on amazon and it's coming out soon!" posts on livejournal, but at least now there's some standard quote that people can cut and paste in response to those posts. It sounds far more official than just saying, "dude...it's not going to happen".

Ok so I guess if you're not into spoilers you won't wanna go to house daily livejournal where marykir linked to in the spoiler thread to see a few shots from next week's episode but can I just tell you one thing? Hugh in a t-shirt should be enough to draw 18-plus million viewers a week. Seriously...and I liked last night's show a lot. But if I didn't...I'd tune in again just for him in a t-shirt. It's that good. There's all kinds of interesting things going on in these pictures that would draw my attention away from the arms if I was more normal or less shallow...but it's not working. I'm telling you...THAT GOOD. Edit cause I forgot to mention that Anthony Goff tore a little piece of my heart out with that quote. I think we all knew there wasn't a chance in hell it was actually coming out this year but I had no idea that he didn't even start writing it yet! Busy guy...I get it. But it still kinda blows.

Hugh hasn't even started writing it! That really is priceless! hughsblues, ITA & I'm now going back to drooling.

Given how much the world has changed since the book was first supposed to come out, I suspect Hugh would have had to start over even if he had written anything. Slate has a Rupert Murdoch Film Festival video that uses a bit of the Fry & Laurie It's a Wonderful Life sketch.

Wish I knew where to get that T shirt he has on! I wanna collect a lot of the House tees. Then roll around in them! Darling Hugh fills out a tee very nicely. Anyone ever wonder why House has such bitchin taste in clothes, a killer place (decorated wonderfully) and then has an ugly, uncool car? Not that I'm complaining. I love House's image. Its just funny that he's supposed to "not care" and in order to dress like that (have the coolest tees) and have a place that looks so beautifully put together, he would, ya know, have to care.

Boffle- 09-27-2007

Let's see, olivia720, House has a great sense for what's cool, especially in what he wears, but just the flashy bits: the leather jacket, the shades, the cane. When it comes to most of his wardrobe he's strictly utilitarian and frugal: doesn't take the time or spend the money to iron or dry clean shirts, yet the suit jackets are impeccable and not flashy (a concession to HL's own taste perhaps?). It's cool to have the flashy tees and lovely tailored shirts, but not cool to have them neatly pressed. The apartment is beautiful because he likes beautiful things (though it's also possible that Stacey decorated it!) and his instruments and musical-themed posters make up a significant part of the decor. And the car? Well, if he doesn't have the cool old Mafia gift Mustang anymore, it's back to the strictly utilitarian equivalent of a rumpled tee-shirt: the docmobile! Or they have really cool wardrobe and set decorators. Who can tell?? By the way, I just want to say that after seeing Alone and a few of the spoilers, I now begin to think that adoring Hugh Laurie is like adoring the universe: mysterious and eternally expanding. Mmmmm....

"I now begin to think that adoring Hugh Laurie is like adoring the universe: mysterious and eternally expanding. Mmmmm...." Oh that is so true.

Boffle,I agree. I always thought Stacy, who told Cameron she moved in with House, decorated the apartment. The excellent jackets are the kind that last forever,so I think they dated from pre-infarction.The T-shirts are probably the only ongoing purchases, and bought from some funky shop where he gets his canes or his music, some little out of the way place that's not popular. I can see him in a place like that just because it fits him, choosing things he likes in person, rather than shopping online like for the shoes.

Poeia- 09-27-2007

While Hugh and House share a (wonderful) body, I think we need to move the conversation about House's clothes back to his thread. And I'm surprised Hugh has been doing so little publicity for this season -- just the Leno and TV Guide interviews. (I know. That was a very looooong reach to get us back on topic.)

amysusanne- 09-27-2007

Heh. It worked for me, though, because I actually have an opinion on it! Imagine that!! My prediction is that he'll do Craig's show in November. Yeah, that's still down a bit from last year, but it's season four. He doesn't really have to do any at all, but I'm going to make the big guess that he'll do one more before the new year.

Speaking of Hugh and his look-alike...did anyone catch "Life" last night? I came home from the Mariners game, kind of drunk, and crashed on the couch to watch it, only to fall asleep less than half way through. What I saw was entertaining, though. And, yes, dammit. I still think Damien Lewis resembles Hugh. :-)

marykir- 09-27-2007

I could see Hugh doing something around the time of the post-Super Bowl episode also (late Jan/early Feb). I suspect that will be the first new episode after the holidays and BCS/24/AI takeover of the Fox schedule in January.

amysusanne- 09-27-2007

Speaking of Hugh and his look-alike...did anyone catch "Life" last night? I saw it. I give it a high C/low B. Somewhere around there. I liked it, loved him, loved Adam Arkin, liked his partner, liked the story and it has potential...it was just a bit disappointing. I think that might have more to do with my anticipation of it than anything that was actually *wrong* with it, though. I just expected more. I came home from the Mariners game, kind of drunk, and crashed on the couch to watch it, only to fall asleep less than half way through. What I saw was entertaining, though. If you want to catch the rest of it, USA will be "repurposing" it in the same way they do SVU and "House". I think it'll be on Saturday nights, but I'm not 100% positive about that. And, yes, dammit. I still think Damien Lewis resembles Hugh. I'm the one who has repeatedly said that she sees no resemblance and even though that is still *mostly* true, he did something in one of those scenes last night (and I now can't even remember what it was) and I was like, "okay, I might have to start giving in to the Hugh resemblance". I wish I could recall what it was, but it just screamed "Hugh Laurie" and for that brief second I saw what everyone else evidently sees. I could see Hugh doing something around the time of the post-Super Bowl episode also (late Jan/early Feb). I suspect that will be the first new episode after the holidays and BCS/24/AI takeover of the Fox schedule in January. I can't imagine that they won't be all over the infotainment shows around that time, but every single time I've predicted that they'd get a load of press for something I was wrong.

I don't know. Could the scene where you saw the Hugh resemblance for a brief second have been the one at the end where he was looking at that "flow chart" thing on his wall - I kind of saw it briefly too, but maybe because it reminded me of House staring at the whiteboard. I agree, it's not great, but has definite potential and I'll keep watching cause I like him and Adam Arkin. Did you notice Adam the autistic kid from Lines in the Sand? I thought I recognized his name in the opening credits and then knew it was him as soon as I saw him. Kid's a good actor.
