He was so lovely and dapper in that suit and yes he did seem to be having...fun! Maybe the west coast mellowness has rubbed off or maybe he's taking pain meds for his sore elbow (I only say that because I've been taking them the last week and people tell me I look....so relaxed). Well, it also makes me proud to have downloaded MtM from Itunes as my very first purchase there. Maybe next time he can play it with the Tonight Show Band, wouldn't that be lovely! None but Hugh, folks, what a dishy delight!

I had to work late last night and got home at about 8:30-9:00pm. 'Tis usual. At any rate, my mom called right as I stepped in the door and I was immediately suspect because she's two hours ahead and still recovering from chemotherapy and really ought to have been in bed by then. So I answered the phone a little apprehensively, sure that something was wrong. Instead she called to inform me that I might want to tune into Jay Leno because Hugh Laurie was on. (I hate bursting her bubble and telling her that, yes, I already knew that.) She was pretty giddy because despite my having been a fairly ridiculous fan for such a long time, she'd never managed to catch an interview. I think maybe she swooned a little bit. She did tell me that she now understood why I liked him. And she was super stoked to learn that he's in a band and maybe I could get an interview with him. (Granted, I do interview a lot of bands for work, but none on that scale of fame for the simple reason that they don't need the same kind of promotion. It's the same reason why I'm not booking interviews with Bono or Mick Jagger, either. She doesn't quite get this.) At any rate, consider Hugh's fan club membership to now be whatever million it is plus one. :-) As a side note, that was kind of a bizarre juxtaposition to see one of entertainment's most skeptical and intelligent members seated next to one who needed to be convinced that the world isn't actually flat. Though I have my doubts that Hugh even keeps up with any idiocy related to the morons on The View.

Thanks amysusanne. I'm always amused by the Google ads on this board (and various other boards)...there's one up there right now about getting relief from tennis elbow.

I just watched the Leno interview and I have to say that HL seemed to be the most relaxed he's ever been on a US chat/interview show. I loved everything about it. Bailey, that's so sweet of your mother! My own Mom recently surprised me with a local magazine with Hugh/House on the cover (which only had recycled images and recycled information badly mangled by a cringe-worthy translation, but it's the thought that counts). :)

From Seventeen magazine (wft?), scan of the Everybody Lies ad folks have mentioned complete with HL & RSL gorgeousness. http://community.livejournal.com/house_wilson/1786625.html (can you say Hoyay?!)

amysusanne- 09-22-2007

Oh...oh, oh, oh I don't like that at all. If they'd had them actually pose for it, identically to the layout or even use existing shots of Hugh wearing the shirt and photshopped RSL in the background then I'd probably love it because it's pretty obviously left of center wrt the usual "house" advertising, but they took their heads from existing promo shots and put them on other bodies. It's too obviously photoshopped and I really hate seeing that in advertising. It looks cheap and fake.

oscarsgiant- 09-22-2007

It's most definitely a bad ad but those sure look like HL's slopy shoulders to me. Unless you meant another Hugh body when you wrote other bodies which you may have.

houserocket7- 09-22-2007

Is it just me  or did anyone else think that he was practicing pistol shooting for his upcoming role as Thomas Lang (in the Gun Seller)?:ninja: Hope, hope

I sort of left it ambiguous because I'm not really sure. I initially thought that they took the head from the season two promo shot and put it on another body, but I suppose they could have taken a shot from that set and photoshopped the shirt on it. I'm not sure about RSL other than that that's his head from one of the same S2 shots. It's just too bizarre looking to me. Is it just me or did anyone else think that he was practicing pistol shooting for his upcoming role as Thomas Lang (in the Gun Seller)? I think that's probably wishful thinking. I'm really not expecting to see TGS in the near future. I take him at his word that he was just doing something with his kids that they don't get the opportunity to do while in London. We've seen him wearing various Gun Club SWAG in photos. I think it's probably a hobby.

It's just too bizarre looking to me. Besides the overall weirdness of it, they end up looking like convicts with a secret instead of doctors.

I'm always amused by the Google ads on this board (and various other boards)...there's one up there right now about getting relief from tennis elbow. My favorite is the "House of Pain" ringtone one that keeps showing up, but got to give google ads credit, it picks up the key words we post very well. The photoshop/airbrush thing - seems like everyone is going over board with using this nowadays, & its a shame, you loose so much character from the actors faces, but that said, I'll live with it if it gives me ads like that. Whatever the execution, its a great sneaky concept.

I am forever grateful to marykir for posting the links. This time of the year is always hard because of all the new show goodness. Nothing is more enjoyable on a Sunday morning than a hot cup of tea and a new interview to watch :)
