Since the fates despise me in a different way than I thought they did I was home to see this. I think it was a good interview. Hugh looked like he was having a good enough time. Loved the line about having a free weekend and browsing the papers for an award show.

OMG SO HOT! Can I kiss his elbow and make it better? He can ask me out on a date or to dance any time! :)

I only caught the second half of the interview, but what I saw was just charming! :) Does anyone know if Hugh will be doing the talk show/late show circuit, or if it was just the Leno slot?

Since the fates despise me in a different way than I thought they did I was home to see this. I think it was a good interview. Hugh looked like he was having a good enough time. He did, didn't he? There was an energy there that's usually lacking in those kinds of things. I really enjoyed it. Like, genuinely enjoyed it and didn't just enjoy it because it was Hugh Laurie on my television. {g} OMG SO HOT! Can I kiss his elbow and make it better? You take the elbow...I'm holding out for a list of the other injured body parts up for grabs.

I was also wondering what the other body parts were. Maybe all that shooting got to him.

It *was* a good interview. Hugh looked hotter than hell, and Jay asked some different stuff - the band, the OBE. No accent, moving family to U.S. questions. Very good. Wish they had put the camera on Hugh during some of Sherri Sheperd's interview, I could definitely hear him laughing.

That's weird that you mention that because I was just coming back to edit/reply and mention that I'd checked the HD copy that was recording on the tivo and in a couple of shots you can see him. While she's telling the first part of the bike story he's in the shot, watching something in the audience and laughing at the appropriate moments. They cut him out of the shot around the time she gets to the bit about the old woman going "nyah, nyah". Then you can see him again a bit later when she breaks out the globe and it's kind of hilarious. She sits it back behind her and he's just sort of smiling/grinning and looking over the back of the chair at it. He could have certainly been thinking "well, this is all pretty fucked up!" but it looked like he just thought it was really funny that there was a talking globe on the stage. Personally I found it funny that there was a talking globe on the stage, especially when Jay silenced it. I'm pretty sure that marykir always tapes the widescreen/HD airing, so you should be able to see what you missed. It was cute.

About his tennis elbow -- I bet he's sorry now that he decided to have House use his right hand for his cane, especially since the way he does the limp is to have the cane a bit too short and he leans down on it. Ouch!

Boudleaux- 09-22-2007

I really need to re-watch this interview but during the discussion about the OBE it sounded like Hugh was about to say something about his Dad and then didn't finish. Did anyone else hear this or was I hallucinating again? He looked so happy and relaxed. Especially when he was talking about Band from TV. I liked his vest and for some reasn, I always pay attention to his socks...which were nice, btw.

TrooperCam- 09-22-2007

were they his usual grey sock?

marykir- 09-22-2007

I think they were dress grey socks (picture with sock). Doesn't Brad Pitt wear something like this suit in his new movie? Maybe it's just the shawl collar vest that reminds me.

I just thought it was adorable how thrilled he is that BFTV's version of Minnie the Moocher was the most downloaded on iTunes. When is this guy going to realize how huge a star he is?

jair- 09-22-2007

I agree, a good fun interview with a good vibe and a few different topics. I hope I can see Hugh during the second segment on Mary Kir's site because I was sure missing his reactions during the broadcast. I kept wanting to nudge the cameraman over, but alas, that wretched 4th wall . . .

I just thought it was adorable how thrilled he is that BFTV's version of Minnie the Moocher was the most downloaded on iTunes. When is this guy going to realize how huge a star he is? I don't think that his excitement over it was an indication that he isn't aware of his celebrity status, I think the giddiness was because he's not a professional musician and yet this cover this dumb celebrity cover band he's in recorded of a classic song that a million other people have already covered is number one on something like itunes. It's pretty impressive, really. I really need to re-watch this interview but during the discussion about the OBE it sounded like Hugh was about to say something about his Dad and then didn't finish. Did anyone else hear this or was I hallucinating again? I think you probably heard the bit where they were talking about his kids. Jay said something about "Dad" from the POV of Hugh's children and then Hugh went on to talk about his son's opinion on the honor. I didn't hear anything about his father at all. Actually, I didn't hear Jay really cut him off in that bit of the show, they were both just sort of finishing each others sentences. Which now that I type that out it sounds stupid since that's probably the definition of cutting someone off, but you know what I mean. They were having an overlapping conversation.

He did, didn't he? There was an energy there that's usually lacking in those kinds of things. I really enjoyed it. Like, genuinely enjoyed it and didn't just enjoy it because it was Hugh Laurie on my television. {g} Absolutely. I'm so glad that I stayed up to watch it! You know, I hate the word 'squee', but I have to say that I did a lot of squeeing last night. Hugh looked so dapper in that suit. He managed to look dressed up and casual at the same time. He was joking around, seemed comfortable, and pulled a lot of funny 'Hugh' faces. I missed the first few minutes, so I didn't see him talk about the tennis elbow. Hopefully I'll get to see the whole interview somewhere. :shifty:
