Seriously. I'm in love with this show. I'm trying to resist posting quotes every couple of seconds
Don't resist. Give in, you know you want to. Do it for us lowly Americans.
Word on the Emma Thompson love, she's great.

Apparently, Stephen is the only seriously person that can be supremely intelligent and publicly adored by the British public at the same time. We're generally suspicious of intelligence apparently
Hee. QI. I love QI.
Alan Davis says that he sees himself and Stephen as the most homoerotic double act on television. Heeeee.
EDIT - Hugh on Stephen:
"The man is a national treasure, he's a national treasure. He's a personal treasure too. I share him with the country."
And now Stephen's talking about Fry and Laurie. Heee.
marykir- 08-17-2007
I especially love this -
Hugh: I just knew that he was the man for me... as it were.
*thud*
Why do I live in America? It's just not fair.
I think this will be pretty easy to find, if you know where to look. Well, obviously, it'll be easy to find if you know where to look! I mean, it will very likely be in the usual places. Probably in the next couple of hours, certainly in the next day :)
edit: how very generous of Hugh!

AWWWWWWW, you're enjoying taunting me with their guy love, aren't you? Could I love HL and SF any more?
And now Stephen's talking about Fry and Laurie. Heee
Well, don't keep me in suspense. Taunt me, I say, taunt me.

He just said that it was like taking the piss out of teachers in school, for the benefit of the people around them.
And that he doesn't remember any of the sketches at all :D
I missed Stephen Fry: Guilty Pleasures, I think. It's on tomorrow, though.
50 Not Out was wonderful - so many people love Stephen. If you can watch it, do (for those who missed it, it's on again at 1.30 am and tomorrow at some point, I think).
LightMyCandle- 08-17-2007
407 have I told you lately that I love you?
marykir- 08-17-2007
I don't think you missed anything, 407. IIRC, Guilty Pleasures and the Mark Lawson Talks To... both showed up first on the schedule for Saturday.
The interview by Mark Lawson should be good. I like the one he did with Griff Rhys Jones a while back.
407- 08-17-2007
I thought that was how the weekend was scheduled, marykir - thanks.
I forgot about the Mark Lawson interview. Yay.
I'm so glad I'm taping these. Stephen gives an introduction to all of the shows that are playing for the Stephen Fry weekend (ABoFaL, Blackadder Goes Forth, The Young Ones and Wilde, I believe)
It makes everything even better that I met him on Wednesday. I should have wished him a happy birthday *facepalm*
And LMC - no, you were actually due...
LightMyCandle- 08-17-2007
no, you were actually due
It'll never happen again, I'm thinking Tuesday would be a good day for a gentle reminder.

Hah - lucky for you, I don't count that as stalking. It's romantic, really
Jouse- 08-17-2007
AHAHahhaHHAhAHH I have to watch this -- and it can't be found anywhere *throws a huge tantrum*
407, give us more!! Did Hugh smile when he talked about Stephen? GaH.
407- 08-17-2007
Lol, John, you have no idea how cute he was. I remember him saying something about Stephen's inability to dance. He also said that he felt very fortunate that whilst everyone else had to watch Stephen perform on ABoFaL through their televisions, he got to see it whilst standing only two feet away. He mentions something about Stephen's incredible memory and just generally spouts some seriously fangirly stuff. It's the most adorable thing in the world.
Honestly, Emma Thompson's 'I love it when Stephen hits Hugh' was great. She used the word 'hilarious' a lot. I think she said something like Stephen's tendency to hit Hugh probably came from some deep, repressed longing or something.
Prince Charles seems to know Stephen pretty well. At one point came out with something like "I always tell Stephen he's doing far too much..." Heeeee.
Hugh mentioned Stephen's fear of being bored, I think.
And that's all I can remember. I'll try and report back tomorrow on the other shows etc.
I believe the Guilty Pleasures includes more on Stephen hitting Hugh. Why this excites me is anyones guess.
marykir- 08-18-2007
I started doing some screencaps. I'm only through 2 1/2 minutes and have 60 caps - it may take a while to get through the whole program... especially as I'm doing them while waiting for real work to upload to a web server
All the other talking heads are lit up nice and bright, and Hugh looks like he's being interviewed in a cave! It was the same with the Comedy Connections program.
sasmom- 08-18-2007
That setting is definitely dark isn't it? I wonder if the goatee is because he began growing in his beard with the most difficult part to grow in first? Maybe the cheek part grows in more quickly so he can wait a bit for that. I know my husbands beard grows in that way when he's beginning to grow one.
The setting looks like it might be his own home (the library?) It could be the House set of House's flat, but the fireplace seems wrong. built in bookcases seem right, though. but House has a pretty classic victorian-style flat, so...
Jouse- 08-18-2007
marykir, you're my god.
and Hugh looks like he's being interviewed in a cave
LOL, maybe it's in his contract - all interviews must be conducted in Mr. Laurie's personal grot.
ETA- Oh, I don't like this gotee at all.
