Poeia- 04-25-2008

He did a modified version of his arm flourish when he came out (I always think of it as a Musketeer's thing). Loved his "lizard on a rock" pose and his expressions when he found out that Jay has a gold Burger King card. His mother was one of the first people he was aware of. Heeee. And he's going to have to stop making fun of violinists. Jesse is one. ETA: For as much as I don't want people to ask him about switching accents anymore...I still get blown over by how much I love his natural one! It's one thing to comment on his accent (the way Jay did when referring to the fact that he also did an American accent in SK.) The annoying thing is when we get 3 minutes on "OH! You're English!?!?!" That has gotten really old.

I don't know iamdaffodils but I'll tell ya...he really had me at "Grapes of Wrath." That was adorable. For as much as I don't want people to ask him about switching accents anymore...I still get blown over by how much I love his natural one! I forgot about "Grapes of Wrath" hughsblues - I loved the way he said that too! And his "I AM SO JEALOUS" and his facial expression over Jay's gold Burger King card was so great.

shutterbug12- 04-25-2008

I kept rewinding the Burger King card part for his jealous face and chair slap. Got such a kick out of it. :)

iamdaffodils- 04-25-2008

Did anyone else notice when they came back from the commercial break right before that guy from New Mexico came on, how Hugh was so into whatever the band was playing. He was drumming with his hands on both arms of the chair - so cute.

houserocket7- 04-25-2008

I am so jealous that you have already seen Hugh on Leno. I have to wait another 90+ minutes.... :sweatdrop:

nylonpopstar- 04-25-2008

Pleaseeee??? someone post it on you tube right away????, I am in south america now, not a chance to see it, thankssss

TJRX- 04-25-2008

He did seemed very relaxed and at ease. This interview differed from the last Leno show because they talked about many different things for a minute or two, instead of one or two topics for a longer period of time. (Getting his OBE, playing in the band, etc. ) And his facility with the English language in his English accent? Priceless! "they try to touch my rainment"...hee

Boffle- 04-26-2008

And that he saw orchestral music as "fascistic." Oh and not to be a pain, but the word is "raiment." :-) And yes, I would try to touch it should the opportunity arise. He did seem quite relaxed and popped into his comic faces easily: loved the "lizard on a rock" followed by "striking a pose." Hope he gets back his confidence in playing with the band: since he spent most of the strike break playing piano his chops should be great. And I thank the stars that there were no questions about his kids or his therapist, though I'm sure he would have been gracious and funny had they come up. And the motorcycle story was great, the poses lovely, ITA that that woman must post that video. ;-) And even more yes, his precision in expressing himself is lovely when he lets loose, which I'd love to see more of. The letting loose, that is. I sense that where House has no filters, Hugh Laurie has a zillion of them. All in all, a fun interview which I shall be enjoying rewatching on the morrow. And with that, ladies and gentlemen, I bid you all a good night.

And he's going to have to stop making fun of violinists. Jesse is one. Hee! Jesse's probably the reason why he's making fun of violinists. And I'd bet that Jesse makes fun of pianists back at him. I have not yet seen the interview but am now looking for it as you all have convinced me to do so. I love seeing him in a good interview, especially when he shares an interest with the interviewer - such as Jay or Craig.

It's one thing to comment on his accent (the way Jay did when referring to the fact that he also did an American accent in SK.) The annoying thing is when we get 3 minutes on "OH! You're English!?!?!" That has gotten really old. Plus, that comment about the accent was clearly a set up for the limp joke. I was wiped out by ten. I tried to stay up, but my body was having none of that, so I just got to it this morning. It was cute. As much as Leno and his show get ripped, I find Hugh's appearances there to be comfortable. Not necessarily comfortable for *him* (I have no idea), but watching them is comfortable. They're warm and funny enough and just a really lazy way to start your morning after you've slept for about twelve hours. And the motorcycle story was great, the poses lovely, ITA that that woman must post that video. I want her to post those pictures simply because I don't believe that event ever happened and Hugh made it up like half the other people going on those shows make anecdotes up. {g}

If it hasn't been mentioned, marykir has posted the interview and screencaps on her site.

DOB1234- 04-26-2008

Hee! Jesse's probably the reason why he's making fun of violinists. And I'd bet that Jesse makes fun of pianists back at him. I don't think this has anything to do with Jesse, though he may tease him too. Years ago on a Parkinson interview in Britain Hugh talked about how much he 'hated' the violinists in his school orchestra. It was really hilarious the way he went on about what nerds they were. So the mention on Leno was not something new. I'll bet you can find that Parkinson appearance on marykir's site.

Jinete- 04-26-2008

I'm wondering what instrument he played in his school orchestra. I'm sure someone here knows.

Boffle- 04-26-2008

I believe he said he played percussion, where you count, say, 36 bars between notes, so triangle, cymbals maybe?

Namaste- 04-26-2008

Perhaps I've missed it, since it was originally posted about a month ago, but Diane Kristine had a chance to see and review the unaired HL-penned pilot for "Dragans of New York." Find it here.
