Namaste is dead right - it's actually very easy to hide from sight in most stadiums' VIP boxes. And Hugh would be the last one to muscle out someone who had more reason (and desire) to be up front. And it's usually one of the worst views in the place.
Hugh may have been there willingly, or for the benefit of one of the boys, but he never seems pleased doing self-promotion. Personally, I suspect his favorite part of the whole spectacle was Tom Petty at half-time.
Which brings me to ask, what is this, and when did it occur?
DOB, I feel your pain - The local post SB coverage wreaked havoc here in NY - I have some serious trimming to do on that recording.
Lainey and Madeley should hook up - they could economize and buy their hallucinogenics in bulk.
ETA: amysusanne, that Taco Bell crack made me splat my sauerkraut! And poor bailey, so assiduously on the lookout for news, will now have to change all her alerts for the Nightwatchman.

I'd love it :D if you went to to the Off Topics thread with some details....sightings, teams, etc.....for those of us who probably won't be in a luxury box any time ....
If it makes you feel any better, one of my clients invited me last year to sit with him as a guest in the Ticketmaster suite at Safeco Field. The service was nice but I saw no one special and no one saw me. I did feel slightly dirty being a guest of Ticketmaster though because as far as I'm concerned, those guys can suck it.
And poor bailey, so assiduously on the lookout for news, will now have to change all her alerts for the Nightwatchman.
Well, exactly. Now I'm forced to dig through all the trailer sites looking for a different movie altogether.

Which brings me to ask, what is this, and when did it occur? Hugh Laurie from "House" played the Fox NFL theme on an old Fender, and its absurdity probably made it the highlight of our evening. Laurie can actually shred a little bit, and his devious, "I can't believe they're letting me do something so dumb during the Super Bowl" grin made it even more hilarious.
Yeah, when the heck did this take place? I never saw anything of Hugh and a guitar. Maybe he played for the media but not for the camera?
Boffle- 02-04-2008
I think they are talking about one of the House promo ads. It looked to me like they took some footage from "Alone" when he was playing the Flying V and dubbed in someone playing the NFL theme (maybe), then at the end they inserted the clip where he says "wear a cup," which was pretty funny. If that's not what they meant, I have no idea.

edit: I swear no one had answered when I started typing...
It was this promo for House. I can't believe anyone really thought Hugh was playing the theme - his fingers weren't moving anything like the music :)

Boffle beat me to it. That is what I think they are referring to Boffle. We're on the same page.

And to search for the truly interesting and informative phrase Street Kings. I suppose the writers are prohibited from coming up with new titles as well. But bailey, you hussy, selling out to Ticketmaster! That's so beneath you.
Thanks all, re: the NFL/Hugh guitar spot. I was energetically muzzling party food and I missed several promos.

Night Watchman isn't easy to search for either. Well, it's as easy to search for as any thing else. Sorting through the results is a pain though... There are about 3 different movies with 'watchman' in the title that come up, not to mention "Night in the Museum" which features Ben Stiller as a, yes, watchman.

You're being modest, marykir. How much endless head-banging must go with the torrent of useless results you surely get when searching for "House". Your desk must be a sea of dents.

STEPHEN FRY NEWS! From the Wisconsin State Journal website
Entering around the same time as Cieslewicz were Tom and Laura Farley. Tom spent part of last week with Lucy Wallace, who is helping produce comedian Stephen Fry's BBC series called "Fry in America." Fry plans to tour all 50 states in an old English taxi and originally Wallace wasn't sure Madison would be included. But Tom Farley, who works for the Convention & Visitors Bureau as well as serving as president of the Chris Farley Foundation, guided her toward two disparate topics: ground zero in the debate over stem-cell research and "how we've taken the cheese and beer thing to the next level and really developed craft, quality products."
If you're close to Madison, WI, look for Stephen and his English Taxi!

Oh crap. How could I be so stupid. Here I am looking forward to watching House tomorrow and I was forgetting that California primary election news will wreak havoc on the evening's TV schedule. Rats!
Obviously local affiliates can still do what they want to do, but Fox is actually advertising that they're not going to interrupt their programming tonight. They're directing people towards the internet and Fox News and are making the point that while the other networks will be interrupting or preempting, they will not. So with the exception of the fact that at certain points (or the entire time) we'll be stuck with graphics at the bottom or on the side of the screen, we should be seeing both "American Idol" and "House" with no news break ins. And even though this is obviously a closely watched election, there's no way that Fox isn't going to *own* the other networks tonight.

ew, yuck. I'll try to be less awesomely hilarious in the future! {g}

There's a better synopsis of Street Kings here, and it includes a bit of information about HL's character.

James Ellroy and film have not exactly meshed well, so this both makes me nervous and excited. Ellroy is one of my very favorite writers ever so it's really more wanting the movie to be a success for him rather than Hugh, actually! (My Dark Places is seriously one of those books that will never leave your mind if you read it). Oh yeah, and I see Hugh's playing the designated villian since he's tagged as the IA officer (always the villians in Ellroy books).

My Dark Places has been in some sort of pre-production limbo forever. David Duchovny was slated to star at one point. I'm not sure if he's still attached to that and waiting for a better window or what. Needless to say, I've been anxious for it.
