I. Much like Chevy Chase in that paul simon video in the 80s. . You Can Call Me Al! My cat is named Al! Partly because of that song. Also Al on Quantum Leap and Albus Dumbledore. Al is a perfectly cromulent name for a cat. I don't care what anyone says. TOPIC! HL was the only episode of SNL I've watched all the way through in ~ 9 years. It may not have been GREAT but SNL hasn't been GREAT since Phil Hartman was on. I miss Phil Hartman. I'm totally watching the Emmys now. Can anything top last year? Probably not, but I look forward to imagining what would.

HL was the only episode of SNL I've watched all the way through in ~ 9 years. It may not have been GREAT but SNL hasn't been GREAT since Phil Hartman was on. I miss Phil Hartman. I've seen most of last season's SNL and I would put HL's episode third overall, behind Baldwin and Timberlake, which were both outstanding episodes. Big fat word on Phil Hartman, such a sad sad story. I still miss him on the Simpsons :(

Big fat word on Phil Hartman, such a sad sad story I still tear up a bit when I see his picture. Imagine what he and Hugh might have done on an SNL episode together.

radiosweetheart- 09-06-2007

Imagine what he and Hugh might have done on an SNL episode together. You just about made me cry, Fawlty. Phil Hartman was my excuse for not going out many a Saturday night. He made me laugh more than any guy I might've had the misfortune of dating. That would've been an amazing pairing. Those two could've made me fall off the couch just from making faces at each other. Can you believe it's been almost 10 years?

hugeegosorry- 09-06-2007

This is so great that I have found a fandom that also loves Phil Hartman. I thought I might be the only one who ever thinks about him (apart from his family of course) Oh man, he made me laugh like no other... much like another foreign import... homina homina homina.

Fawlty- 09-06-2007

Can you believe it's been almost 10 years? Now I really am getting weepy. We are fortunate to have these talented people in our lives for however long it lasts. Think Hugh and Phil Hartman in an Anal Retentive Chef sketch. Or how about PH as Sinatra and Hugh as the obnoxious rock star? The list has the poetential to get pretty darn long...

galaxygirl- 09-06-2007

I love PH as Sinatra in the Sinatra Group "This bald chick - what's with her head? Let's start with the chick. What gives, cue ball? I'm looking at you, I'm thinking: fourteen in the side pocket!" oh how I miss him :(

This weekend: Me, NewsRadio the complete first and second seasons, and some RocketFuel, y'all! DAAAAMMNN it's crizappy! It's hardly fair, but at least TV on DVD makes it possible to enjoy shows that don't get the attention they deserve on TV. For example, I don't think I'd seen more than a half dozen episodes of Jeeves and Wooster or Fry and Laurie during the first runs. Maybe someone will decide to add something with Phil Hartman to the Netflix queue and he'll live on for another generation.

edited to remove image. it's here if you want to see it: http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/amysusanne/vacation/la/february%201999/Phil-1.jpg note: completely off topic of the subject of hugh laurie, i only threw it in because of the phil hartman talk.

Pure love! okay back OT: HL has a 5 year contract. Seeing as we're in year 4 I'm starting to get nervous... what's the likelyhood of the show/HL going longer than 5 years. I mean, his kids are basically grown up now (or if I remember my teen years at least they think they are) why doesn't he ship his wife over and do house for as long as humanly possible? thoughts?

saara_zaara- 09-07-2007

There was a reported interview that HL did with the BBC early this summer possibly where supposedly he said he's extended his contract to 7 years. But I've never been able to find confirmation of that. Anyone any ideas??

hugeegosorry- 09-07-2007

That would be awesome, four more seasons of House! Finally, something to live for!

DOB1234- 09-07-2007

Something else to live for - Hugh is scheduled for Leno on Sept 21st!

galaxygirl- 09-07-2007

As much as I love Hugh, I can't get myself to stomach Leno. Most likely will have to pass on that one. Any word if he's going to be on Craig Ferguson's show soon?

iamdaffodils- 09-07-2007

DOB - great news! About what I figured that he would do talk show appearances right before the season premiere. I'm guessing he'll probably do the usual talk show circuit - Ellen, Craig. How do you find out the guest schedule so far ahead of time? When I got to the websites of the various talk shows to check the guest schedule they only have the current week.
