I think all the nominees should go and instead of taking their spouse or whoever to the ceremony, take a writer. Walk the red carpet and do interviews with the writer at their side. Mention the writer(s) prominently in their acceptance speech. And see if NBC censors them That's actually a really good idea, writers as dates. I think most will go, regardless of whether they're technically crossing a picket line or not, but I also think it'll be a moot point because I just can't believe that the WGA won't grant a waiver. Getting those people there on a live mic on a big stage with the writers and showrunners attending for their nominated shows can only be a positive thing, especially if the alternative is *not* going and leaving it all to the suits.

Two pics of HL walking through Covent Garden last night. Thanks misese....is it just me or does it look like he's got stubble? Certainly looks like it to me :) He certainly likes those boots/shoes :) The photo looks out of proportion to me - big head, little feet....?

I love his sassy emsemble. Cept the boots are kind of homeless-esque. Yeah I guess he loves them a lot.;) Anyone know what Covet Garden is?

This is a brilliant idea!!!!!!!

As you can see from my new avatar, I've discovered the wonderful world that is Stepehn Fry's quiz show QI, which some dear people have managed to upload to the naughty place. How I wish HL would be a panelist again: he was on once, pre-House, on the first episode when the show was still getting into its groove. Aside from answering one question and making an impassioned plea on behalf of actors during a bit of actor bashing, he was pretty subdued.

Poeia- 12-13-2007

Did you think his plea for actors was serious? I assumed it was a joke and laughed like a hyena when I heard it. Okay, maybe just like a loon -- I saved the hyena laugh for the rubber band comment.

No, I didn't think he was serious at all. More like mocking the the image of actors that bitch about how hard it all is. (Never mind that acting can be technically & emotionally difficult but pretty much no-one outside of other Hollywood actors wants to hear someone rich & famous kvetch about how hard their job is.) I wish I could remember exactly which episode of QI it is when one of the guests is an absolute know it all twat. Like, it starts off amusing that he knows all this arcane shit (and eventually "wins" with an unheard of score of 89) but he soon annoys the crap out of everyone else who delight in making fun of him. Even Stephen snaps and calls him out as being an irritant. That episode was probably one of the funniest.

That's the third episode of the third season/C Series, with Rory McGrath making his first and only appearance. And no, I'm not obsessed. I just took two minutes to scan the Wikipedia breakdown of episodes.

I guess my typo "Covet" was just freudian slippery. :P

This is just an honest inquiry and no disrespect meant, but is the person who is running hughlaurie.net these days losing their mojo? No updates of any kind for over a month. In the grand scheme of things, it's barely worth complaining about, but I was just wondering....

Poeia- 12-14-2007

Bailey, I started to say that there hasn't been much out there other than paparazzi pictures and hughlaurie.net does not post those. But, actually... Appearing on picket line, attending the boxing match and returning home (2 days ago?) for the holidays. I guess there has been a little stuff. ETA: I just remembered about the Hello Magazine Hunkiest Man of 2007 competition so I went over to vote (thereby putting off work for a few more minutes). 12 people to choose between. Hugh has over 1/3 of the total votes. Think he'll win?

iamdaffodils- 12-14-2007

I think they even quit doing the screencaps of episodes like towards the end of last season.

I hope they are okay.
