Didn't Imelda Staunton play Hugh's wife in Peter's Friends. And didn't she guest star on 'A Bit'?
I remember it because she was so short she had to stand on the couch to kiss Hugh and Steve.
I love Hugh's circle of Britratpackcomic friends. I hope he invites a few to the Emmys this year.
Was Stephen nominated as a guest star by the way?

No, he wasn't. Honestly, as delightful as SF is, no one would ever believe he could get nominated for that role given the Emmy track record and SF's low profile in the US.

It's kind of worrisome that Fox executives think it would freak audiences to see "Dr. House" in a different role.
I think it has more to do with Fox execs being terrified of losing House viewers if suddenly the audience discovered Dr. House isn't really crippled, but is in fact a very able-bodied Englishman. Yes, I do believe they think so little of us.
Sometimes it seems that there is an IQ test that must be taken by anyone who wants to be a studio exec in Hollywood. Anyone who scores too high is eliminated from consideration.
Yes, well, precisely. And given the amount of rubbish on television these days (i.e. reality tv), execs really are willing to believe the worst of any audience. We should all be grateful that a show like House was even allowed to escape its prepubescent confines three years ago.

I wouldn't know. I can't find that movie ANYWHERE! :x

Yup. Roger and Mary. I love this movie so much :)
I'm actually pleaed HL won't host the Emmy. I don't think he'd feel comfortable, it's not really his thing.

I'm actually pleaed HL won't host the Emmy.
I'm pleased too, as much as I hate to see Seacrest try to prove he's so incredibly straight for over three hours on live television, I'm not sure if it would have been Hugh's kind of thing.
saara_zaara- 08-31-2007
The Emmy thing, I understand why its a bad idea for HL to host when he's up for an award, but some part of me really wants to see HL on the box for 3 plus hours, maybe with SF as sidekick. And Seacrest, bleh!
galaxygirl- 08-31-2007
Well, David Hyde Pierce won one of his 4 Emmy's when he hosted with Jenna Elfman, so it's not really unheard of.
Namaste- 08-31-2007
Excuse me, but wasn't Tom O'Neil the same guy convinced that Hugh fangirls were going to crash his oh-so-exclusive webchat? And we're taking seriously his report that a "few" execs somehow mysteriously interfered with plans to have HL as Emmy host?
Seems to me the guy isn't as up-to-date on information as he would like people to believe he is.
Also, he spells "execs" as "exex" and thinks Band from TV is still called 16:9
radiosweetheart- 08-31-2007
Namaste, it is hard to deny logic like that.
That gentleman doesn't sound particularly up to date.
Or as if he lives on the same planet as most of us.
It's fun daydream fodder, though. Right up there with the rumor that David Bowie was going to be on Doctor Who next season.

He also apparently thinks this Steven Fry person worked with Hugh some years ago.

I must confess that Hugh Laurie is the first "older" man that I´ve ever found attractive in my whole life.
I´m usually fond of bishonen (pretty androgynous guys), but there´s something about Hugh that makes me swoon. *w* And I like him more now than when he was younger. I´ve seen his pictures and he looked like a funny lad. =P
By the way, House is the first Hugh series I´ve ever seen. Here, his previous works are not known at all.

ITA - I've followed HL's career ever since A Bit of Fry & Laurie (when I too was a lot younger...) but never *actually* found him attractive until the first nanosecond I saw him as House...

I had sort of platonically loved him since the ABoFL, Blackadder and J&W days and seeing Hugh in House was a revelation.
Now House is scorchy and swoonsome, but I was watching BA the Third a few weeks ago and do you know, I sort of started to fancy Prince George. His first scene in Amy and Amiability, where he's sat at the desk, all in white and then puts his feet up on said desk and his gorgeous, long, stocking-clad legs are spectacularly on show. Luscious. The rouge and lippy don't hurt either.

Well he is a roarer, a rogerer, a gorger and a puker at this point. And looking immensely rich
