James Garner refuses to cooperate with Entertainment Weekly because, in the birthdays spot, they tell women's ages and that is impolite. I'm very comfortable telling my age (54), but some people aren't. I'm comfortable telling people my age, too, although it changes like the weather.... As for the sit-ups, love the thighs and I'm glad to see even a jock makes those faces when doing sit-ups...It would have killed me if he smiled.....

I love the photos and those thighs are to die for. He has a runners body and damn...is it wrong I want calf muscles like that?

In the continuing saga of shipments from Amazon, I just received an e-mail from them saying they've shipped my copy of AONAA. I ordered on the 4th of November. *shrug* I don't get their shipment schedule either. I ordered mine around the same time, and this morning logged in to Amazon.com to see that my ship date has been pushed back to December 4th with an anticipated delivery date of December 14th. GRRR.

I guess they are still angling for a "depressed Hugh" story but as usual, it's totally exaggerated. I am sure he's sad to be so far from his family but anyone would be sad in that situation and that's not a sign of depression or mid-life crisis. Hugh probably boxes because boxing is fun! I wish he'd come to the gym where I train, we have some very good boxers and martial artists he could spar with. Plus I'd get to see him in his sexy shorts. I wonder if I could kick his ass? I'm an experienced martial artist and often take on bigger guys. But something about Hugh seems tough. Even without the boxing training, I wouldn't want to tangle with him. It is so awesome that he's a boxer; I love kickass guys. With the fast cars and motorcycles, he certainly does have a bad-boy appeal.

Adding to the continuing Amazon saga, I got an e-mail saying my AONAA shipped this morning with a tracking number and I have the 2 day Prime thing which means it should arrive Wednesday....but it says it won't arrive until Thursday. Only one day I know, but everything else I've ordered with them since I got the 2 day Prime shipping thing has always arrived in 2 days - hence the name. Makes no sense.

They only published two of the photos taken at the boxing in that article - I've seen a couple of the others and he's smiling and laughing with his instructor/sparring partner. So they really worked hard to choose the two where he doesn't look perfectly happy - it's all so fake.

amysusanne- 11-26-2007

Yeah...I saw some of the additional ones from that same afternoon and he looks like a regular guy at the gym. I mean, wtf? Anyone can speculate upon anything they see in the fraction of a second that's captured on film. He could be happy, sad, pissed, bored, tired, angry and any fifty other things. Because they want to take the "middle aged guy in crisis" route they pick "sad". And he *could* be sad. Or...see above.

puppetangel- 11-26-2007

Where can you see the additional photos of Hugh boxing? or do you have to be registered to see them? thanks

euphrosyna- 11-26-2007

I saw them in a locked forum, I'm afraid. Sorry. :(

Poeia- 11-26-2007

I've seen a couple of the others and he's smiling and laughing with his instructor/sparring partner. WHERE?????

houserocket7- 11-26-2007

The spin on the boxing stories that I like is that he doing it to hold on to his "sexiest man" image. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/wenn/20071126/ten-laurie-takes-up-boxing-to-retain-sex-c60bd6d.html Where are the photos of him looking like a normal guy?

euphrosyna- 11-26-2007

I reuploaded one of the ones where he's laughing: here it is. It's pretty awful quality though it's huge - it took ages to upload it!

Boffle- 11-26-2007

Wow, just shows you what a big guy he is. Good thing he's such a nice guy or I'd be worried for that little guy he's sparring with. ;-) (Hold onto his sexiest man image? what a laugh! Like it or not, he's stuck with it!)

Poeia- 11-26-2007

It's kind of bizarre. He is a jock. He likes pushing himself physically. People like that don't suddenly plant themselves on a couch (unlike people like me who have never been fit.) He doesn't row anymore. There aren't a lot of cricket games in LA. He doesn't like the idea of martial arts. Aerobics -- even the thought of him in a spinning class with a bunch of Beverly Hills women is frightening. If he tried jogging he'd probably break his neck tripping over the paparazzi. I gather he dives, but that takes a bit of planning and his schedule probably changes too often for him to do that regularly. Boxing seems like a rational choice. ETA: Of course, if we could get him to take up Gyrotonic, I'd pay big money to get video of him doing the leg series -- feet in leather straps, held in the air by pulleys, butt exposed... ETA: Thanks euphrosyna. I wonder if his sparring partner ever does a "Jeez - I just punched/got punched by Hugh Laurie?"
