hughsblues- 11-25-2007

a lot of actors and crew members are probably not taking off on long holidays because of the very real possibility that this strike could be over as early as Tuesday. Sure, he could obviously get back quickly (and has), but there may be more reason to be here than to be there. That could be why he's still looking like House too...in addition to hanging around to see if he'll be back to work this week maybe he figured he shouldn't risk shaving! hughsblues, my Amazon AONAA order still shows shipping on Nov. 27th. I placed my order Nov. 3rd. So did I marykir! That's why I don't get it...

Poeia- 11-25-2007

But Hugh has House stubble in these pics and from what we've seen in the past it's the face fuzz that's first to go when he's not House anymore. So if those pics really are from yesterday...something tells me they're not totally done shooting yet. I could be totally wrong but my guess is that there's more to film or he'd have shaved. He can't shave because he doesn't know when he'll be returning to work. He shaves at the beginning of their end-of-season break but, based on the goatee he had for Stephen's 50th birthday show, he starts to grow it back well before he returns to the U.S. Right now he doesn't know if he has to return to work in December or in March so the scruff stays. I wonder if he'll let it grow into a full beard while he's in limbo. ETA: I've still never seen Raging Bull because of the violence.

iamdaffodils- 11-25-2007

The thrill of sitting ringside is completely lost on me Yeah, I don't get that either. The blood and sweat drenching thing would be enough reason for me to never want to experience it either. Even though it was in black and white, those scenes in Raging Bull were too graphic for squeamish me. They should probably hand out plastic sheeting to the people in the first few rows....anyone remember Gallagher and the watermelon and sledgehammer routine? Just me. 70's flashback, sorry.

marykir- 11-25-2007

I don't get Gallagher either :)

amysusanne- 11-25-2007

IIRC, boxing PPV is usually very expensive. Does HBO ever rerun fights later? Yeah, they do. It all depends, though. Like most sports, I'd be totally into actually going to the fight, but I have no interest in watching fights on television. I'm an event person, but not a sports person. The only thing that I tend to enjoy on television is baseball. Since I have no real sports affiliations outside of baseball, I could care less about watching it on television. I totally get off on the excitement of seeing it happen live, though. So, the blood and sweat for me? Not really a problem... I don't get Gallagher either I like to think that even Gallagher (whichever Gallagher is actually sledgehammering the watermelons these days) walks out of a Gallagher show wondering what the fuck all those people were doing there.

I had no idea what you were talking about...just had to wikipedia Gallagher to realize there was ever a "Gallagher Too" controversy. And, BTW, it sounds like Gallagher One is, at the very least, a complete ass. Topic? I actually have tracking information on my AONAA disc. Maybe they ran low on inventory. Maybe I just happened to get the last one they had in stock. Tough break, hughsblues. I'll try not gloat and rub it in. :-)

I'll try not gloat and rub it in. Amazon is strange. I pre-ordered the first day it was announced too, have the Prime 2 day shipping thing, and they're still telling me it won't ship until the release date on Tuesday. Not a big deal for a matter of a few days, but just odd that they already shipped it to you on the 23rd bailey (you're special!), and others have different shipping dates. Is it maybe based on how often your order from them? I thought I read that somewhere, but I order from them probably a couple of times a month.

Boffle- 11-25-2007

Looks like my AoNAA is shipping Nov. 27, arr. 29-Dec. 1. I almost ordered the House that HL Built book, but then thought I'd like to look at it first, so damn and double damn, I had to pay for shipping. Also nearly went for Hugh's narrating the Harry Potter thing, but had second thoughts. If I could get my hands on Hugh narrating the Wallace and Gromit go to Hollywood (or Chicken, or whatever it's called), that I would do in a heartbeat: the excerpt on marykir's site is just delightful. Of course, if House really doesn't come back till next fall, I will have ordered everything HL on the planet...

There's nothing you haven't read a million times before in the part of the book that's Hugh's biography. That's probably about the first 60 pages or so. Then there's brief biographies of each cast member and David Shore I think. Then an episode guide for S1-3. One of the things they list for each episode is "boo boos", but they don't even include most of those, which can easily be found on the internet.. Did I mention how lovely the cover is though :) I know what you mean about pre-anxiety House withdrawal causing you to order lots of HL stuff. At least that's what I'm going to blame it on.

sherlockjr- 11-25-2007

Is it my imagination or is there a lot more white in HL's hair in these pictures? Just because I'm a little obssessive I also feel the need to say that I don't think he's using the clicker to go get his car -- he'd be facing the other way if that were the case. He must have just parked it and is walking away from it. Oh, and as long as we're talking about strike/schedule-type stuff... If the writers were to come back as early as Tuesday (and who knows how likely that actually is), there probably wouldn't be anything for HL to do for awhile anyway. It'll take some time to get back up to speed. So either they're still filming or he's hanging around for other reasons. The picketers will be back marching as of tomorrow, with a special picket/toy drive organized by Nia Vardalos. http://unitedhollywood.blogspot.com/ and scroll down.

I had no idea what you were talking about...just had to wikipedia Gallagher to realize there was ever a "Gallagher Too" controversy. And, BTW, it sounds like Gallagher One is, at the very least, a complete ass. I have a brief stint of unemployment and the E! True Hollywood story to thank for what little knowledge I have of the Gallagher controversy. Amazon is strange. Is it maybe based on how often your order from them? I thought I read that somewhere, but I order from them probably a couple of times a month. I've never really understood how Amazon works. I ordered it on the 4th using standard shipping and mine will, allegedly, ship the same time yours will. I think it's possible that it's all based around region and not the date you ordered or your total purchase or how you ship. But, I really have no clue. I guess we'll all see how it goes next week. hughsblues' issue probably *does* have to do with a higher demand than they anticipated. I doubt that they really have a warehouse full of the things. She'll probably wind up getting it earlier than the date they gave her, though. That's probably their worst case "we just want you to know that you're not getting this before Christmas" scenario. The picketers will be back marching as of tomorrow, with a special picket/toy drive organized by Nia Vardalos. http://unitedhollywood.blogspot.com/ and scroll down. My first thought was "on a Saturday"? Yeah...apparently I was not aware that today is Sunday and that I have to go to work tommorrow. Dammit. Boffle - The best thing about that book is the cover. I'm sure it'll be on the remainer tables soon enough. It might be worth 3.99. Definitely not more than that. The writer's a hack.

marykir- 11-25-2007

boffle, the Wallace & Gromit thing hasn't been released on home video. I had hopes it would end up as an extra on one of the Chicken Run DVD releases, but haven't found one with it listed. I think the best available copy is going to be a recording off the Ovation channel. On the AONAA front, BFS has a trailer up on their site. I've never figured out Amazon's shipping algorithm. I order stuff from them all the time, but a lot of it is preorders. I can only remember one time I got something the day it was released instead of 2 days later with Prime free 2-day shipping. I'm glad I'm not the only one having trouble figuring out what day it is. As far as my mind is concerned, the day after any holiday without mail delivery is Monday :)

cindylouwho- 11-25-2007

On the AONAA front, BFS has a trailer up on their site. That trailer was incredible! HL is smokin' hot in it!

Sadly I don't get the Ovation channel, damn double blast with a side of hot blast and double damn damn. (Why am I channeling Peter and John today, dammit? guess it's just a mystery...) ETA: mmm, yes the AoNAA trailer is awesome! To quote Marlene Dietrich "falling in love again..."

Since we've been talking about buying Hugh stuff...a question for you guys. A close friend of mine...who's getting to be a big Hugh fan like me...just got a new job and it added 45 mins to her commute. I thought it'd be nice to get her a Hugh audiobook for Christmas. Now here's the thing...audiobooks really aren't for me just cause when I'm driving any distance at all short or long I have to listen to music. So I don't have any of the books Hugh's read and I'm not sure which is the most entertaining. I know my friend will like it cause she has a couple other audiobooks that she liked listening to. I just don't know which of Hugh's is the most fun story for a long drive. If you have any of them...which is your favorite?? I'm just trying to narrow it down.
