Thanks euphrosyna. If those were taken yesterday, I'm surprised he's still in L.A. I figured he had flown home since the reports were that Wednesday was the last day the show would be in production until the strike's settled. Unless he's hanging around in case it does end with the talks scheduled for tomorrow. But then wouldn't it take several weeks for scripts to be ready, get everyone back in place, etc.? It doesn't seem like even if the strike was settled tomorrow, they would be able to go back to work the next day. I was thinking he was going to at least be able to get a long break back home with the family, but maybe not.
He definitely hangs on to favoite tees - that one's been around for awhile. Love that.

I was wondering that too. Even aside from the strike, he generally goes home for Thanksgiving weekend. I remember him mentioning it in an interview - he said something like he doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving as he's not American but he's thankful for it because he gets to go home. But I've seen them tagged with yesterday's date in three separate places...

This is just speculation on my part, but I think he has to pay attention to how much time he spends in the UK each year for tax reasons. If he spends more than a certain amount of time there (either two or three months, can't remember), the Inland Revenue and IRS both get him. And if he is off for many more weeks than usual (all of December, for example), maybe he is waiting around a bit to go home.
In the photos, are those smokes in his left hand? (Why I am looking at his hand when there are more interesting parts to look at??)
euphrosyna- 11-25-2007
That might be it actually... good idea, Birdwoman.
I thought it was a remote control in his hand - for a garage, maybe? Or a phone? But could be cigarettes. Hmm.
Namaste- 11-25-2007
It looks like a garage door opener to me -- and if so he's probably just heading out to get his car -- not so much walking down the street, but walking through the apartment complex parking area.
DrSpaceman- 11-25-2007
Do we know for sure shooting ended on Wednesday? I would think there'd be some indication from the trades, who've been announcing when other shows have shut down.
puppetangel- 11-25-2007
I think you can only be in the UK for 90 days or less in each tax year to be considered non-resident for tax purposes.
Maybe he can go join stephen on his car tour of america.
If shooting had ended however I would have thought we would see Hugh out on the picket lines for awhile until he went home-so maybe they haven't finished.

I think that 'rumor' was started by me: a person in a House thread on another board said his friend, who's a crew member for the show mentioned that the 21st would be their last day of production.
So, it could be true - and this person has given us reliable info before.
iamdaffodils- 11-25-2007
blue I remember you saying it, but I could swear I remember reading somewhere David Shore saying the 21st was the last day as well - but my brain's kind of fried right now, so maybe I'm totally wrong on that point. Anyway, maybe they thought they would finish up filming for ep. 12 on the 21st, but didn't, and since they were off Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving (I'm guessing), Hugh's just here for a few more days until they complete the last ep.
Boffle- 11-25-2007
Re: the photos. Agree that it looks like he's got his garage door opener in his hand. So either he's opening his garage door or he's joking and pointing it at the papparazi to turn them off like a remote control. (He does seem to have a little smile after he points the thing.) Or...
Also, someone pointed out on another board that he had said a while back that he's going to attend a title boxing match in Las Vegas in early Dec. so maybe he's heading home after that...
iamdaffodils- 11-25-2007
Boffle - I'm guessing it would be this one since one of the boxers is British, and it's December 8th in Vegas:

Not into boxing, but I wonder whether it would be worth it to order the PPV - I'm sure Hugh will have excellent seats and could be on camera a lot!

Oh man...turkey coma + shopping coma = I haven't been this fat or broke since...this time last year.
Looks like there were lots of thoughts on the whole "blaming Hugh for the show" thing...I've seen it in a few different places like I said but I think the key to not being bothered by it is to not go to those places anymore! Problem solved...hopefully. I have no will power to not lurk at other places. It's like staring at a car accident even though everybody does it and it makes everybody late for work but you do it anyway. I really do understand being unhappy with the show...for the record that totally wasn't my problem. I just think directing that at Hugh...or any cast member for that matter...is totally misplaced and unfair. But you guys seem to get that and be on the same page as me so I'm done being bitter and ugly here!
The new pics...wow. Seriously...jeans and a tshirt is pretty much the most basic clothes combo ever. But he just looks incredibly good in it. It's so common...he shouldn't look any more special than anyone else in those clothes but he works a tshirt and jeans like nobody's business. Damn. I don't know what it is but I'm thankful for it. Also...whoever reported November 21 as the cutoff for House...David Shore or the friend of a crew member...that could have been true at the time. But Hugh has House stubble in these pics and from what we've seen in the past it's the face fuzz that's first to go when he's not House anymore. So if those pics really are from yesterday...something tells me they're not totally done shooting yet. I could be totally wrong but my guess is that there's more to film or he'd have shaved.
Also, someone pointed out on another board that he had said a while back that he's going to attend a title boxing match in Las Vegas in early Dec. so maybe he's heading home after that...
That's cool Boffle...hadn't heard about that one.
On a totally different topic...bailey brought up Maybe Baby which for some reason made me check up on the status of my amazon preorder for All or Nothing at All. There's a little notice on the top of my order page that says I won't receieve the item until after Christmas!! Now...I guess that's fine cause I'm not giving it as a gift and it's not like I've never seen it...but why would I not be getting it until a month after it's released when I made a preorder a couple weeks ago? Anyone else seeing after December 25 as their estimated delivery date??
Oh and bailey...I know you still don't like Maybe Baby but that commentary is hilarious isn't it?? My favorite parts are when they're talking about Adrian Lester's suits coming from a designer that he's actually friends with and Ben asks Hugh a question about them and Hugh's like "Are you asking me about fashion? Look at what I'm wearing!!" That and the scene in Carl's apartment where Ben is talking about filming a hot sex scene and Hugh is trying not to watch them having sex:
Hugh: "Is that a portrait of Stephen Fry on the back wall?"
Ben: "No! It's Elvis!"
Hugh: "That's Elvis??!!"
I don't know if that's funny to me cause Hugh is trying so hard to distract himself and Ben from commenting on the sex or if it's funny that Hugh thought Elvis looked like Stephen. Whatever it is...it cracks me up every time!

Well, the picket lines are done for now. Tuesday was the last day before the holiday break. Aside from the fact that we don't actually know when he has or hasn't been out with the writers (lots of actors have been out that haven't gotten coverage) if they finished up late last week or early this week and he was done, he was done. That's that. If he doesn't want to walk in a circle for six hours that's his business, really. If he was working until the last minute he simply may not have wanted to do that. But, again, if it hadn't been for a video where you see him in the background we might not have known, for sure, that he was out there at all these past few weeks.

I'm pretty sure that they're done. The production offices were supposed to close on Wednesday for the holiday weekend (and infinately), but they were supposed to be done shooting prior to that. I'm not going to speculate on the personal reasons as to why Hugh isn't in London, but I will speculate on the professional: a lot of actors and crew members are probably not taking off on long holidays because of the very real possibility that this strike could be over as early as Tuesday. Sure, he could obviously get back quickly (and has), but there may be more reason to be here than to be there.
I realize that there was a lot of hope that it wouldn't happen at all and that things fell apart at the last minute, but the mood seems to be optimistic as far as getting some resolutions on Monday. We'll see.

Well, that sucks. I don't see any changes on my order, but that doesn't mean there won't be. Weirdly, I had forgotten all about it until a couple of days ago when I was going through what I'm going to owe on my credit card this month. Although if it doesn't ship, I guess that moves to an after-Christmas bill. I guess that's something good.

IIRC, boxing PPV is usually very expensive. Does HBO ever rerun fights later? I don't know; that seems like a better (cheaper) option though :)
Extra is headquarter in Vegas, so they will probably cover the celebs attending the fight. Whether Hugh gets any attention from them (or the other infotainment shows) depends on how visible he makes himself and who else is there.
hughsblues, my Amazon AONAA order still shows shipping on Nov. 27th. I placed my order Nov. 3rd.

The thrill of sitting ringside is completely lost on me. Back in the day, I had a videography job at one of the ESPN Friday Night Fight programs and I've never been so grossed out in my life. The entire time I thought I was going to hurl. I worked through 4 fights and by the time I was done, I was completely drenched in the blood and sweat of too many participants to count. And you could just see all that spewing over the front row viewers.
Ugh.

I just checked. My Amazon update said that it had shipped on 11/23 and was due to arrive to me on the 28th. Curiously, though, I had ordered an additional DVD at the same time (that's how they get me; they know I need to order something else to get the free shipping! I fall for it every time!) but it appears as though they shipped separately. (Yet on the same day.) So, I don't know. That seems odd to me. I guess I'll just have to see what actually arrives in the mail next week.
