Past couple of years, not really "few"... He's a documented fan of the Coens. If he just wanted a photo op he could have gone to see that Vince Vaughn movie earlier in the afternoon, gotten himself a little face time in a happy, colorful atmosphere and gone to bed early.I was referring specifically to the last 3+ years while he is in LA shooting House. Just me than. The VV movie also has Paul Giamatti in it and I'm hoping he'll be the best Santa since Billy Bob was "Bad". That's probaly just me too.

They took down some of the photos, but they still had one of Hugh protecting his modesty: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article157717.ece It's from prepartion for "Fortysomething", I don't remember which episode, but it was a pretty funny scene.

I know that ET and Extra and Access Hollywood make it look like going to premieres are all glitz and glamour, but they kinda blow. I go to about one a month and this is how it is. an actor walks down a red carpet thats tossed on the sidewalk and stands in front of a board that says the name of the movie and perhaps a few sponsors, takes a few photos and then goes into a movie theatre. we all go to movies it's just they stand for pictures before hand. although they give out free diet cokes and popcorn. The parties are usually equally lame, despite what you see on the afrorementioned programs, although I did exit Oceans 13 party at the same time as Mr. Clooney and was blinded by the papparazzi. anyway to get back OT the only reason I can see HL going to one of these events is to do a friend a favor. The only reason I go is for the free drinks at the after party... hehehe whatever I'm allowed, I'm on strike!!!

I don't doubt you at all, but I think I'd get a kick out of seeing for myself. want to take me as your date?

- Hugh Laurie (An unexpected, late arrival, prompting much swoony screaming all around me.) He looked quite happy in the pics from the premiere. Surprising if there was "much swoony screaming." I guess he's beginning to figure out how to ignore it. He might like a bit. I think the thing he hates are the paps.

Does anyone else think that part of the reason Hugh may have headed out to this premire was to dismiss the articles that tried to link depression with why he headed back to England? I think its cause he likes the Coen brothers. I think its usually he's doing someone a favor or is obligated. I don't think he seeks them out much. Its not like he needs to get his face out there. I do like it though, cause I like fresh pics. :P

I mean that it's generally a negotiated title when it's given to someone that's not actually a producer. Quote: The only reason I'm asking is cause I would think House has achieved the kind of success it needs to in order for Hugh to have earned one by now...I kinda don't understand how he's not a producer...unless he turned it down cause he doesn't want to wear any more hats than lead actor. Honestly, it's not like he'd have to do anything other than be Hugh Laurie and keep showing up for work until the network felt the need to cancel the show. Lauren Graham certainly didn't. And I don't think David and Emily are sticking around after hours to polish scripts. It's a vanity title for a lot of people. Not *all*, but (imo) most. Most stars of shows *don't* get producer credits. It seems that this is a more recent turn of events, actors getting random producer credits when they renegotiate. It's a pay raise. With all due respect to Hugh, he deserves a Huge paycheck for carrying a hit show the way he does, but he doesn't really deserve random titles being thrown at him just because. Had to go back a little bit to find it but thanks for answering my question amysusanne! It's old news now and you guys have moved on while I was away to bigger and better things like hot pics of Hugh at a movie premiere (they're nice!!)...but one other thing about this...I agree with you. I think Hugh deserves a lot of credit but not necessarily titles just for the sake of titles. RSL joked that Hugh codirects all the shows but I wonder how much influence he does have outside of his own role as actor and if he really does deserve a producer credit. It doesn't really matter...I'm just curious.

Ok it's probably annoying to make two posts in a row...but there was a Hugh sighting so I thought what the hell... This writers assistant blogged about today's stike happenings here! Oooh I think I figured out how to link! Exciting! Since the strike news is kinda ot here...here's the bit about Hugh We were able to turn a few trucks around though most non-union drivers sailed right through with a wave and a honk. Hugh Laurie crossed but he had to. Word is he'll be out in front of Fox this afternoon. Here's the deal with SAG. They have a 'no strike' clause in their contract, meaning they can not honor picket lines if they've already been hired on a gig. (Well, they can. But they have no legal protection. In other words, Steve Carrell can easily be sued by NBC/Uni for refusing to cross.) So Hugh's still showing up at work...but like this person says...probably not for long. I don't know how long though so bailey...if you're reading this...don't leave for the airport just yet! Wanted to share the Hugh "news" with all you guys in case you filter the blogs out of your google alerts.

Now you tell me! Well, screw it. I'm at Heathrow already in the arrivals lounge. This totally blows!

radiosweetheart- 11-08-2007

How was the baggage retrieval system there at Heathrow, bailey? I've been very worried about that.

Boffle- 11-08-2007

Yeah, bailey I've heard the baggage handling area at Heathrow is hell on earth! So says Mr. God anyway...

Silja- 11-09-2007

How was the baggage retrieval system there at Heathrow, bailey? I am not Bailey but I shall butt in anyway: It's a blemish on the soul of mankind. Nice gag, Boffle.

Boffle- 11-09-2007

Thanks! I made it myself. ;-)

Here's a quick heads-up for a possible opportunity to see HL Sale 15406 - An Important Sale of Collectors' Motorcycles and Related Memorabilia, The Petersen Automotive Museum, Los Angeles, California, 10 Nov 2007 Lots 500 to 784 Collectors' Memorabilia and Von Dutch Memorabilia from the Stan Betz Collection (10 Nov 2007 starting at 11:00) Lots 800 to 877 Collectors' Motorcycles and Select Motorcars (10 Nov 2007 starting at 14:30) One of the motorcycles up for auction belonged to Steve McQueen. I think there is a chance Mr. Laurie might be in attendance. I think he has been at the Petesren Museum in the past....
