Did he win?

DOB1234- 08-27-2007

YES! He won for actor in a TV drama. House lost out to GA for the series award. List of winners here http://www.fox.com/teenchoice/winners/

What? Did the Heroes, Supernatural and Prison Break crowds cancel each other out? (No I wasn't following the awards. I had to look at the nominees list above.)

Okay - that's kinda weird. Hugh Laurie is a bigger sex symbol with teens than Wentworth. That's going to have a few advertising executives scratching their heads. Maybe that's why his daughter was hanging around with him lately - dad's now cool!

He also won the Golden Derby. While it's just an intra-forum vote, they do have a lot of actual Emmy voters as members. It makes me hopeful.

It is weird, but maybe the teen girls are hanging out at the same online places where I hang out and have finally come to the conclusion that they won't stand a chance with Wenty ;)

have finally come to the conclusion that they won't stand a chance with Wenty & they do with HL?

What? Did the Heroes, Supernatural and Prison Break crowds cancel each other out? (No I wasn't following the awards. I had to look at the nominees list above.) one thing i've noticed is that the "supernatural" fans are a lot older than you would think they are and the "house" fandom has a lot of people much younger than you'd generally assume. i mean, maybe *we* wouldn't make any assumptions because we're all in an internet fandom, but looking at the people who post on SN message boards and forums they're older than your typical CW audience. when they pitched "house" they most definitely weren't thinking that it was going to be a top five show among preteens. it's just interesting that the audience is a bit lopsided and flipped. which is pointless, i know, but fun for me to think about. for the record, i drool over both casts because, you know, that's a lot of pretty...

I'm not really that surprised that he won the Teen Choice award. I've noticed a LOT of teen fans in the various online House communities I've frequented. On LJ in particular, I've seen a lot of comments that appear to be from high school age viewers. People commenting on how they're only 16 but they'd totally do Hugh Laurie, or whatever. At one time I found it entertaining to do blog searches on Hugh's name and came across a ton of teens drooling over him then, too. By the way, hi! Just came over here from that other place.

sugarplum_pdx, you get bonus points for not passing go and heading straight to the Hugh Laurie thread over here. Most folks do the seemingly obligatory meet - n - greet in the "real life" threads, but you just honed in on the good stuff. I have to say, I admire that in you! Welcome.

sugarplum_pdx- 08-27-2007

Heh ... I have to admit, I haven't even really looked through the rest of the threads on this board yet. I'm sure they're all fine places, but I tend to like to stick with one or two threads on any board, and Hugh Laurie is the obvious choice for me. :) Thanks for the welcome!

I have a friend whose opinion I highly respect and she's a ~huge~ fan of Supernatural. I, lazily, have never seen a single episode so I have no opinion about it. For some reason coughhormonescough it doesn't surprise me that a show mainly about boffing would be popular with the teen set. amysusanne, you made me laugh out loud, though, that the advertising agents would be confused by Laurie's win. PS: I just deleted my link to www.televisionwithoutpity.com Much as I am a La Femme Nikita fan, the new moderators over there (Nikita is the reference) need to butt out. It's a free Wild Wild Interweb and I'm exercizing my right to avoid annoyance. PPS: There are simply some words I can't spell so if "exercize" wasn't right, forgive me. Every time I use my spell checker it reverts to "exorcize" and that has a completely different meaning.

Get thee to youtube, search for Stephen Fry Guilty and enjoy. Lots of ABOFAL clips. And he talks about the pleasure of hitting Hugh at the end of part 1/beginning of part 2. Captanne, it's "exercise."

Check out the twin yumminess of RSL and HL! I've got to put this in the RSL thread as well. http://community.livejournal.com/house_wilson/1728858.html

Birdwoman- 08-28-2007

I was browsing ebay and came across a listing that was a little disturbing. Someone is hawking a copy of the Hollywood Reporter, supposedly addressed to HL, with a W. Pico address. Sure hope that is the Fox lot and not his residence. Or better yet, hope the whole thing is fake. I guess any idiot can type up an address label...
