So did everybody catch House's cameo appearance on the Simpsons this evening? Hee! If you missed it, the promo is still playing on the fox.com page.
I'm bummed that I missed it. Not that it won't be totally easy to track down the entire thing, but I thought that I had it and "Family Guy" set to record last night. Apparently that was not the case. Figures.

I'm gonna link to this in the right place but I thought I'd put the Hugh bit here too in case anybody missed this one.
Here's a little article on Andy Comeau who plays newbie Brennan.

I'm having a hard time inserting the link right so you'll probably have to copy and paste...sorry!!
And here's what he said about Hugh.
Like some medicines, Andy knows he may have a limited shelf-life on "House," but he's enjoying the ride and the chance to work opposite the show's star, Hugh Laurie.
"Sometimes you work with people you admire and, as people, they don't measure up to the work they do," he says, "but Hugh is the exception to the rule. He's very witty, very warm, very accessible — not at all like his character — and he's not one of those guys who hides out in his trailer. He's a very cool guy."
I thought that was nice!

Re: Sherlock Holmes ...
While "House" interrupted plans for a Fry & Laurie Holmes & Watson, the biggest issue was the fact that their plans were beat to the punch by the Rupert Everett version which got a green light first, so the Fry & Laurie version was shelved.

It's pretty cool. But, I am easily impressed by people with even a smidgen of artistic talent so YMMV.
I thought that was nice!
That is nice. He already gained points last week (he was upgraded from "guy whose name i don't know" to "doctors without borders guy"), but now he gains the all important "he wins at life" points. {g}

Just a request, but when people post links, can they say what it is so I (selfishly) know if it's worth clicking? (Especially youtube links, since that requires I get out the earphones, plug them into the computer --- or wait until I get home.

That's a shame. I would have loved to have seen them in those roles.

Actually I think that turned out to be a very good thing. Had HL been involved in the project to play Watson he would not have been able to do House!

Re: Sherlock Holmes... and after they did one with Stephen as Sherlock and Hugh as Watson, they were going to re-make Jeeves and Wooster with Stephen as Bertie and Hugh as Jeeves. Sorry, just can't see it.
Boffle- 11-05-2007
Of course,Hugh is currently doing a "Sherlock" on House.
It is my dream to see Hugh as Sherlock and Stephen as Mycroft, Sherlock's smarter but lazier brother who has all sorts of high-level connections. Perhaps Watson could be RSL if he could be bothered to do an English accent or better yet, Michale Paliln. Now wouldn't that be a grand cast!
Hugh once said that Jeeves and Wooster were based on Sherlock/Watson as well: the less brainy guy writes the stories about his brilliant friend solving mysteries. (Wodehouse is sooo brilliant.) Add J&W to House to a possible SH and Hugh may end up being one of the world's foremost Conan Doyle interpreters!

I know that Fry is the big Sherlock Holmes fan, but Hugh is just so much more like Holmes than Watson in his physical appearance: the height, lean-ness, the piercing eyes. He does not have the beaky nose, though. But Fry looks nothing like Holmes. It's not a question of losing weight; even if he were as thin as he could be, he's still a much broader man than Holmes. He just does not resemble him at all - he'd have to lose weight, wear colored contacts, and even then, it'd be hard to pull off. However, he's nowhere near as fat as Myrcroft.
Hugh also does not resemble Watson very much. RSL would be a convincing Watson, though.
I would love to see Hugh playing Sherlock Holmes, he'd be fantastic, I am sure.

Could you maybe provide a link? I don't see any Simpsons promo on the Fox site. Maybe describe the cameo? Did HL guest voice?
iamdaffodils- 11-05-2007
DrSpaceman - it was there up until last night. I think Fox removes them after the show airs on the West Coast.
HL didn't do a guest voice, it was a clip from the beginning of last night's Simpsons episode where Marge was introducing the Halloween Treehouse of Terror thing they do every year, and promos for other Fox shows kept popping up on the screen. I think there was some baseball (or football players) and she sprayed them with bug spray, an American Idol logo which she sucked up with a dustbuster, a logo for 24, and she took Kiefer Sutherland and put him on the refrigerator with a magnet. With the House/Hugh logo she put Hugh in the microwave. He screamed and then went splat.

Sorry, I can't find that promo now. Perhaps someone more adept at cruising that site can find it. The bit itself was just a small part of the teaser. Mrs. Simpson (sorry, I don't usually watch and don't know her name) is doing an introduction to the show and various little promo figures start popping up on the screen. She complains about people not being able to watch one show at a time these days and starts dispatching the little promo people in various ways. She grabs the little animated House, shoves him in the microwave, and pushes the button, whereupon he pounds frantically on the glass and yells until, well, you know...

I have some screencaps of the Simpsons bit here. A clip will be on my site in about 15 minutes. Unless my browser decides to shut down again.

Marykir to the rescue, as usual. :D
