OK, so my curiosity finally got the better of me and I read the article. Most of it sounds like crap. Bolting his trailer and getting into his jeep? What happened to the Triumph? Party on Sunday? where? In his apartment? I totally can imagine that HL boiled over (I'm sure with the intensity of the shoot, the WGA strike looming, etc, the shooting schedule was ramped up as well) but hopping a plane to travel 15 hours to escape, but then return a day later is not the way to reduce stress. He would have maybe gotten to be with family for a few hours or a day before hopping back on a plane. It doesn't make sense that he would have bolted to the UK to escape. More questions than answers. OTOH, none of us know him or what stress will do. so...

Because I know from past experience with the stories they have written about my favorite stars that they will take a grain of truth and bend it to the worst possible view of the person in question. Hugh may have indeed have left the set upset and angry, but I can pretty much guaranty it did not go down in the exact manner NE described it.

I grabbed the cover art for All or Nothing at All and put it up at my photobucket. I've never done this before, so I'm not sure if you need a password to see it, but if you do, i'll post one. http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y220/sasmom/?action=view&current=205844082.jpg

Bolting his trailer and getting into his jeep? What happened to the Triumph? Party on Sunday? where? In his apartment? I know I probably shouldn't just butt in with little miss lolligag postings since I'm new here and no one knows me from a hill of beans, but I find it interesting that people find what might be the only truth to the story the least credible. Nothing happened to the Triumph, but HL drives a Jeep SUV to and fro at times. I've seen him drive it, I've seen him leaning on it, I've seen it parked in his space on the Fox lot. It's not my place to talk about a possible BBQ, but a person can host a party without using their home as the venue. I am not defending the Enquirer by any means because I hate tabloids and paparazzi. From what I've read as to how many fans view HL, I think people might be surprised how little they know about him is all. He likes it that way. In light of that, I am going to shut my yapper now. I just found it odd that people scoff at the idea of Hugh driving a Jeep or having a party. Didn't he himself say on the Leno Show that while he had never hosted a party before, that "might change." Or something like that. Maybe someone with an actual memory can refresh my hopeless little brain. I am very, very excited about "All or Nothing at All" coming out on DVD. I've never seen it before. I've seen screencaptures, but my old computer hates youtube so I gave up trying to see it there. I need to try and talk Mr. lolligag into getting me a new one for Christmas! Sorry for just popping in like this. But I guess you gotta jump in sometime right? edited by galaxygirl to remove extra tag

Oh, I have to pre-order this now, if only for the giggles.

Wow. I think I was so shocked and happy that as soon as I saw the picture on that link marykir posted, I went right to amazon without even looking at it that closely. I didn't even realize that there was anything on there other than Hugh in the middle. I pay attention so well...

May I ask what might be the stupidest question ever? What are spoffles and where are they on there?

May I ask what might be the stupidest question ever? What are spoffles and where are they on there? Not a stupid question. Long story very short. A long, long time ago, Stephen wrote about a BBC radio voice over session that had Hugh essentially inventing the word "spoffle" to describe the spongy screen thingy that goes over a microphone to cut down on P's and B's popping. (Also known as a windscreen but spoffle just sounds so much better.) Stephen swears that years later they were back at the same BBC studio and the engineers had used the word "spoffle" as though they had always been called that.* Anyway, along with "epitome" and "plethora", "spoffle" is just one of my favorite words ever. All good Hugh fans should try to incorporate it whenever they can. I work with microphones all the time, so it's an easy task. :-) There have been many discussions about spoffles in the Hugh Laurie thread. When I finally saw AANAO some time ago, it includes a kind of....bizarre....scene that has Hugh speaking practically into this woman's (apparently ill-formed) breasts. It's um...kind of funny, though not really supposed to be. Mainly because it looked like he was speaking into her breasts like they were spoffles. And then I think I ruined the enjoyment of that scene for a good many viewer. But I guess you'll find out come Nov. 27th. :-) *If you're so inclined, the anecdote is in an essay called "Licked by the Mother Tongue" in Paperweight.

I pay attention so well... and I was so shocked and happy that I didn't notice that Marykir had already posted a picture link (which I must've missed, and now must go find). I suppose one can never have too many links to photos that herald such an event as this! edited to add: found it. Thanks Marykir (who always has the scoop on everything House). I completely missed your link, and went searching for a pic of the cover.

For those of you hoping for Fortysomething, Princess78 reports that Movies Unlimited has it listed for pre-order, with a release date of 8 Apr 2008. I don't see enough info on the Movies Unlimited site to tell who is releasing it. Here's the link on their site: Movies Unlimited From the limited info on another site, it may be an Atlas Video/Acorn Media Publishing release. I didn't see anything about it on the Acorn web site though - they only have releases out to January listed. Movies Unlimited also has... The Ugly Duckling (26 Feb 2008) which is an animated film. I think this may have been released on DVD before. No idea if it's a re-release or a new release by a different company.

Yesss! Fortysomething on pre order is awesome!! Amysusanne...something tells me you're gonna be making your second ever Hugh related preorder on the same day as the first! *g*

marykir- 11-04-2007

I'm waiting for it to show up on Amazon before preordering. Not because I don't trust Movies Unlimited, but because Amazon is more likely to have a discounted price. Amazon sells gift certificates, if you're making a holiday gift wish list :)
