Yes, PHILTRUM, let's dream. I really don't think Hugh'd be willing to give up his precious vacation, even for Emma's "My Fair Lady", but we don't know what happens in the future...the production might be postponed to 2011, 2012...well, it's mean of me to hope so, but I really want Hugh to be in it! :P
I laughed over this You Tube video. Prince George has a perfect comedy timing! :)

I think Hugh is pretty much a workaholic. (Maybe he feels guilty if he's not working.) He did Street Kings during one haitus. Last summer he did the Schwepp's commercials. The Mediaset commercials were apparently done mid-season. At least some of them were done in New York so he must have squished them into his schedule when he had a couple of days free. And My Fair Lady is probably going to film in England.
But I can't imagine that House's shooting schedule would be altered to accommodate My Fair Lady unless he were already signed for it. And, if that were the case, it would have been announced by now.

Those of you who follow Stephen on Twitter have probably already heard it, but this is hilarious --->http://audioboo.fm/boos/34574
Made my day! Lol -especially the last line. Now, whenever I'm frustrated, I'll be tempted to moan "Why does god shit on me?" in an ersazt accent.
Also, if you search for "mein handy" on YouTube, you might be able to find the bit from QI where he uses the phrase.

Is it still possible to buy any of the Fry and Laurie sketch books? If so, which do you rec that I buy?

Of course we can't possibly know what's going on in his head, but given the fact that the part was written for his great-great uncle (who never got to play the role), I would think he would have a great deal of interest in making every effort to do it, if possible.

There are used copies floating around. "3 Bits of Fry & Laurie" is technically the 1st 3 series, but includes sketches that weren't aired & possibly some that ended up in series 4.

filmlover...check out amazon and amazon uk every now and again for used copies of 3 and 4! There are a couple of copies going for more than $100 right now but every now and then somebody might list one for less. Just gotta keep an eye out! I have 3 Bits and the the Fourth Bit and they're a lot of fun to read.

filmlover, check amazon.co.uk and ebay (you can check off worldwide in item location and ebay will check all of it's sites.)
Your best bet is to search for "bits of fry" or "bit of fry" in quotation marks. That way it will pick up sellers who used an ampersand and those who spelled out "and" in their names.
I just looked. The firs book costs about $10 including shipping. 3 Bits will set you back about $50.
Or you can read them online. Bailey gave me the link for the archive the last time I lost it.

Thanks for the advice. I will check amazon.co.uk and ebay for cpies of 3 and 4.
I've become such a fan of their sketches, and I think I heard that the books contained pictures of them throughout.

filmlover, I have an old copy of the second bit (I bought it from amazon.uk for less than a pound) and there are 8 pages of photos from the sketches, black and white, with completely irrelevant comments. :D
(ex: with a photo of Hugh, tasting wine in vox pop, "The famous "Squrrel Scene" from the suppressed third reel of the movie. Cameraman Geoffrey Unsworth is second from the left. Christopher Biggins has his back to camera and his head in a small basket.")
Poeia, I read an article that says My Fair Lady will be filmed in London.
That'd be really nice if Hugh could play the role during his two-month vacation back home! (two months may not be enough for the filming...still not 100% impossible!)
sherlockjr, thank you for reminding me of Hugh's great-great uncle. :)
I've read about Sir George Alexander somewhere in this thread, but I'd forgotten.
Was there any particular reason he didn't get to play the role? He had already quit acting, maybe?

The Paley Center's website has some photos up from the House event here:
http://www.paleycenter.org/spring-2009-the-creative-process-inside-house
Is it me, or in the one where they're all standing, does it look like Hugh doesn't want to get too close to Katie Jacobs?
Poeia- 07-04-2009
It does look like that. :P
But each picture is a second in time. The next second he could have moved closer to her. (For example, the photographer could have asked them to stand closer together, KJ took a step to her right and the picture was snapped before he moved.) After all, if he didn't want to stand near her he would be down by down by David Shore. With his long legs it would only take about 2 steps.

So I take it our guy is just busily shooting House?
No more news on his front?
hughsblues- 07-06-2009
No more news on his front?
Nope. And no more news on his back either...sadly...
This time of year is always kinda rough from a Hugh fan's point of view. He's shooting House but magazines aren't doing interviews with him cause the season premiere is still too far off and it's the same story with talkshows...Emmy noms haven't been announced yet (but they're soon!) so no video reaction on that...no new episodes obviously...blech. Our only hope is paparazzi photos and those don't even make everybody totally comfortable. The Paley thing was what? Three weeks ago? That's not even really that long ago but I know I'm needing a new fix already. Hopefully we'll get something soon!

Blech! I'm so done with the Emmy awards.
Hopefully we'll get something soon!
Hopefully. I hate droughts.
