In a big city like Rome, I'm sure there're are more than several English language movie theaters. The animation films are usually for the children, but I assume that Italian people love comics and animations just as we Japanese do, and if it's the case, there'll be more possibility that they show MvsA with subtitiles. I think MvsA will be shown here in Japan, half dubbed and half subtitles, depending on the showing time. So please come Hugh for the Japan premiere!! (By the way, I watched MvsA in London, in 3D! :D)

A really good reason to buy a lottery ticket: auction

Gobblin- 05-06-2009

A really good reason to buy a lottery ticket: auction I always think a prize this cool should be raffled, something like $5 a ticket. They still get loads of cash going to charity and makes it slightly more fair on those of us who aren't trust fund babies :( I just did a conversation on $23k.....£16k hmmm deposit for a House or a visit to House

Though I'd love to know who has that kind of money to spend on that! I just hope they appreciate it.

Weren't there a couple of women who used to bid against each other on eBay whenever some Hugh related item was on sale? I seem to remember some talk about them back on that other place. I agree that the raffle would be a great idea, but I wonder if there are some kind of gambling laws that prohibit such a thing. Guess I'll buy a couple of lottery tickets. :?

amysusanne- 05-06-2009

I remember being kind of baffled that they bid and bid and drove up costs so they could have multiples of the same item, but the set visit type things (I think it might have been a similar auction to this one) went for low money. I think that first cane went for more coin than the first set visit I paid attention to.

Really there's been multiple set visit auctions on ebay?? There sould be a House related sales/auction section here, I rarely randomly ebay search House and this is my information forum hehe. I agree they should do raffles, heck I think I would pay $200 for the tiny chance of a set visit, so they could still make the tickets expensive... just not in the thousands for the non rich =(

Housecall- 05-07-2009

Would'nt be nice if TPTB held a compertition where the winner would get to visit the set of House! I can only dream!! This is like the 3rd time I have heard of an auction to visit the set. But only those who have LOTS of money have been able to bid; (sigh!) Although its nice if all the money goes to charity.

amysusanne- 05-07-2009

Really there's been multiple set visit auctions on ebay?? I have no idea if there's ever been a set visit offered via ebay, but I doubt it. I was referring to previous set visit auctions through similar sites as the one linked. I believe one was set up through that same site for the same charity at least once.

Hughsblues posted a French article on twitter, with a pic. Hugh's cut off all his hair again, dammit. http://www.lemag-vip.com/television/11255-hugh-laurie-et-dr-house-dans-le-parisien-interview-inedite.html And here is the translation. Apparently he is or was in France to promote his book. http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&hl=en&js=n&u=http%3A%2F%2Fquotidien-mark.blogspot.com%2F2009%2F05%2Fhugh-laurie-je-suis-moins-cynique-que.html&sl=fr&tl=en

OK...I've been in Paris for 10 days, bought "Tout Est Sous Contrôle", and couldn't have an opportunity to get a glimpse of Hugh...maybe he was in Paris when I was in London for three days. :( ...but thank you for the links, DOB1234! :D I was watching some fricker photos, and happened to find this one. (well, to honest, I was searching for the photos of Hugh in Internet, in the middle of the night. Here it's almost 2:00 am...) It's a photo taken in the apartment of someone. (I hope it's ok to post here...) Hugh's sign as a member of Cambridge boat team in 1981. We have a boat race on the river of Sumida, Tokyo, between two private universities, Waseda and Keiou. In 1981, it seems like they invited both Oxford and Cambridge boat race teams. Hugh's name is at the end of the list as the spare. I think he had already the glandular fever and couldn't row as before. So, if Hugh ever comes to Japan, it will be not his first, but the second visit to Japan. Please come back!

How interesting zumi! That does look like Hugh's signature and I see his Eton partner JJ Palmer also listed. Thanks for posting that! :-)

Poeia- 05-08-2009

The race was Sunday, April 26, 1981. The chronology, as I understand it is (please, correct me if I've got anything wrong -- his timeline is almost as wonky as House's at times): 1978-1979 First year at Cambridge. Contracted glandular fever. Joined Footlights Club. The show that year was called "Nightcap" and he performed in it as well as being a principal writer. 1979-1980 Second year at Cambridge. Rowed (Cambridge lost to Oxford by 5 feet. Hugh was in position 4.) Was a principal writer of the Footlights Club's "Electric Voodoo" but did not perform. 1980-1981 Final year at Cambridge. Did not row. President of Footlights Club. He was a writer and performer in "The Cellar Tapes." The Japanese race would have been during his final year, after he had given up competitive rowing. I'm surprised he had time to go so close to Footlights' end-of-year performances. Thanks for sharing that, Zumi

The chronology, as I understand it is (please, correct me if I've got anything wrong -- his timeline is almost as wonky as House's at times): 1980-1981 Final year at Cambridge. Did not row. President of Footlights Club. He was a writer and performer in "The Cellar Tapes." The listing with his name also lists him as "spare." Meaning he'd step in if someone got sick/injured. So it's not like he was a full time rower at that point.

Poeia- 05-08-2009

I realized that but, if he were still good enough to be the first alternate, he must have continued training that year even if he didn't row competitively.
