shouldn't there be a "sweeps" press release round about now?
And didn't I read that the last strike helped to give birth to the current flood of reality shows?
Someone might have tried to make that argument, but it's not the case. The last real writers strike was in 1988, no?
The number of reality shows has actually dwindled a bit, it just seems like there are a lot given that the four major ones are very, very popular and two of them take place on multiple nights of the week. The shows currently on the air owe their lives first to "Survivor" and second to "American Idol".
If anything, this time out the networks have made it clear that they'd rather *not* fill the schedules with nothing but reality unless they absolutely have to. Because, really, they have to air something. They can't go dead and repeats don't benefit anyone. But, even in the case of reality things get a little bit tricky when it comes to what falls into the category protected by the writers guild and what doesn't.
The Oct. 22nd TV Guide has a page of behind-the-scenes photos from House, focused on the new kids. The page gives away who makes the final cut, so you'll probably want to avoid reading the text if you're completely avoiding spoilers.
That's a depressing read. If the writers do strike, does it halt movie production as well?
And didn't I read that the last strike helped to give birth to the current flood of reality shows? Will this mean even more of that drudge will find a niche and be on the air for the next several years? Yech.
I just realized there are more emoticons available now and just had to use one. Hmm, lets' see, if there is a strike, Hugh will have much more time to go :ship:
Actually, I'd be willing to bet that the minute they finish filming the last script completed before the strike, Hugh will be on the first plane to London...

Yeah, I guess so. He will probably  right home, but he can still :ship: when he gets there. Wait a minute though, if the strike starts in November it will be the :cold: time of the year by then. Guess he'll just hang around his London home and :guitar: .
OK, enough of that. Sorry, just had to get it out of my system.

A rather cute moment in part two of the House Event Between Takes, Part Two video:
http://www.tv.com/house/show/22374/videos.html
At about the 2:53 mark, Robert Sean Leonard is asked about payback from House for stealing his guitar and Hugh Laurie grins and lightly bumps RSL, I guess more House/Wilson hijinks are in store for us.
I am so glad someone posted a link. You can tell that RSL and HL are really, really good friends and they are so hot together. So much fangirl love
Hah! I love the, "I stopped listening to your answer 2 minutes ago."
Thanks for the link.
Thanks pointybird. Hugh and RSL together is always a beautiful thing.
I'm so glad that HL and RSL are friends off the set as well as on. I was watching Spader on Leno last night and Jay asked him about his great chemistry with Shatner and whether they get together off the show. Spader said something about them seeing quite enough of each other on the set. There's nothing wrong with that, but obviously Hugh and Robert don't feel that way, and I just think that's so cool.
