From the clip, they all looked to be enjoying each other. They seem to know each other's sense of humor and appreciate it. Hugh mocking Lisa's laugh was so funny. Then when Hugh was talking and mentioned something about immense proportions and everyone started laughing.

This being the media thread, I draw your attention back to early articles (including the one HL wrote for TV Guide, I believe) in which the character was described as "Sexy" and his daughter bought him a pin with the word "sexy" on it just for his first in-person meeting with the creators when they were casting it. Now that you remind be about it, I also remember HL telling KJ in his typical self effacing way that the button was meant to be ironic. I guess I misremembered, then, because I thought the gist in S1 was how surprised they were at the female viewer response to Hugh. Or maybe that was just Hugh being surprised. :) Whatever, they definitely changed the focus in S2. In the beginning of S1, the bald spot was pretty much just covered with messy hair. The they went to the spray stuff, and now more hard-core coverage. By the way, another nice HL story from the Fox boards posted by a lady who has cancer and who got to meet HL before the Paley thing Thanks for reposting that lovely story from the Fox board. Makes me feel good. I want so much to watch these vids, but I don't want to be spoiled!

Great stuff from the Paley Center :) As I've said before LE is trying HARD to sell the Huddy, which is afterall part of her job. It is pretty obvious to me HL and LE are friendly but NOT FRIENDS - big difference. They work together so it's important to have a friendly relationship with your coworkers. I do think HL and RSL are very close friends. Neither feels the need to stir the pot. To me, the reason HL called LE on the "making out with Hugh" comment is that she wasn't actually making out with HL. She was making out with his character, House. And I guess since he's a happily married man, he wanted to make sure everyone understands he has no desire to make out with LE, which makes sense given he has a beautiful wife at home to do that sort of stuff with. LE probably needs to tone it down a bit. If HL keeps cutting her off at the knees (i.e. clarify), I'm sure she'll get the message and take it down an octave.

Lisa has said they have a great friendship and I have no reason to doubt her. Hugh made similar comments at this event. I think they all seem to enjoy each other and if reports are true from the various sources we have heard over the past 5 years, they all get along, not just HL, LE or RSL. Let's be honest, when they leave the Fox lot, they all have separate lives outside work that doesn't include their castmates except for Jesse and Hugh when the play in BfTV.

HL and RSL have described their relationship as close friends and it shows. And the BfTV is work even though it's primary mission is to raise money for various causes. It's still work. I think the show is good because the cast is professional and friendly and cares about the quality of the product they produce.

I agree with sdemar, they've made numerous remarks in interviews that they are friends, they seem to care about each other a lot. They went to the WGA sidewalk strike together, there was nothing that said they had to be together or had to do it, but they did. We've seen pics of them eating dinner, why say they're not friends? There doesn't have to be that big of a line drawn between coworker and friend.

Namaste- 06-19-2009

I think we do know. Unless you're either one of them, I really think you don't.

Poeia- 06-19-2009

They are professional friends. Those are the people you talk to at the office, you support each other, a group of you might go out to lunch or for drinks after work a few times a month. When one of you leaves the job, you'll feel comfortable calling each other for a professional favor. You continue to have lunch together a couple of times a year and when you're both at the same professional function you both make a point of spending a few minutes chatting and catching up. The fact that these friendships don't carry over into your private lives, are not your BFFs, doesn't mean they aren't friends. I've had plenty of those friendships in my career and I work normal-ish hours in an office where we're each in our cubicles or offices, doing our work independently. The cast and crew of House spent 50-80 hours a week 10 months a year interacting (literally and figuratively) with each other and they seem to genuinely like each other. In my book, that makes them friends. ETA: Some of the friendships might also carry over into their personal lives. From things they've said, I think Hugh & Robert qualify. But their relationships with other members of the cast would hardly qualify as "casual acquaintances."

It is pretty obvious to me HL and LE are friendly but NOT FRIENDS - big difference. I have no idea which members of the cast are personal friends, professional friends, work colleagues, or may not care for each other at all. I don't think any of us - who have never met or had a conversation with any of these people - can claim we know the nature and state of their relationships. Moving on, I was watching a rerun of season one the other day, and then I looked at some recent pictures. It struck me how much Hugh has aged. Anyone else notice that?

I don't think any of us - who have never met or had a conversation with any of these people - can claim we know the nature and state of their relationships. More importantly, does it really matter that much? I understand how off screen friendships and relationships can either hurt or help on screen relationships, but obviously these folks are good enough actors that those factors aren't the only ones that influence their performance. I would guess they're like any other group of co-workers, where some people are close, others are casual, and others don't get along, and even the ones who get along don't get along on some days. They're human beings, just like any of us and I don't know about you guys, but that pretty much sums up every work situation I've been in.

I just watched the youtube clip of the Paley Fest. That was a storm in a tea cup. In other words, nothing of concern happened. When LE was contradicting Hugh and saying she would want cameras if she were being romantic she was in more than "irony" mode, she was in "parody" of herself mode. Subtext: "Why make out without cameras? Then there would be no essential audience to witness my fabulous passion." Celia who met Hugh at Paley reported that Lisa looked "painfully thin". That was one of my wishes for Season 6! That House's mental illness would so devastate Cuddy that she can't eat and begins to waste away, as any self-respecting heroine would. Of course, she doesn't even acknowledge to herself why her body feels a general physical malaise and she's losing weight and her hair is falling out, etc. (although Fox would never let her hair fall out)

More importantly, does it really matter that much? Totally agree with this. In a practical sense, it's just not something that matters to the show's audience. I also think it's worth noting that however many interviews with the actors we read, we don't really know them beyond as a kind of media construct. We know what they say, but that's always going to be informed by what promotes the show and the actors themselves. It's always good to exercise a little skepticism, IMO. That House's mental illness would so devastate Cuddy that she can't eat and begins to waste away, as any self-respecting heroine would. Aside from looking maybe a little tanner than usual, LE looks pretty much the same as she did at the end of the season to me.
