A short article (with small spoiler about next week's episode) wondering if House is entering shark infested waters. In defense of House

Interesting article. Thanks for the link. The Boston Globe isn't one of my regular reads. I agree with the basic outlays -- that there are problems, but the benefits far outweigh them, or as he puts it: Against all odds, and against all the evidence of sloppy storytelling and excessive implausibility , “House” remains one of network TV’s most dynamic hours. Although I wouldn't call it a "psychological farce" -- twisted, definitely, but I'm not sure about the "farce" part. Although considering this Wikipedia description: A farce is a comedy written for the stage or film which aims to entertain the audience by means of unlikely, extravagant, and improbable situations, disguise and mistaken identity, verbal humour of varying degrees of sophistication, which may include sexual innuendo and word play, and a fast-paced plot whose speed usually increases, culminating in an ending which often involves an elaborate chase scene. It would certainly seem to hit on a lot of those issues -- and House the character may define "sexual innuendo."

Except for what he said about Thirteen getting more compelling, I'd pretty much agree with that. (I try to keep an open mind about Thirteen, I really do, but I just can't care about her and most of the time she annoys me.) NightOwl, I know no more than you do but that sounds like a troll to me.

Well, a few people ought to be getting their TV Guides Tuesday. I sometimes get mine on Monday, but not this week. TV Watercooler on TVGN has a "House exclusive" this week featuring Jennifer Morrison. Yes, she's there on the Watercooler set, wearing that leather jacket and talking about the show. There should be a few repeats during the week. eta: The segment includes spoilers for the next episode. They use some of the promo clips for episode 7 that are already online. They ask Jennifer some questions about Cameron and Cameron's relationship with House. It sounded to me like her answers were her opinions and/or trying not to say anything to piss off any shippers - that's just my interpretation, YMMV. She also gives a high-level summary of the episode 7 (Nov. 11th) episode - I didn't hear anything new - and, finally, tries very hard not to say anything about Star Trek :) Jennifer's bit starts about 10 minutes in and is over by 20 minutes in. I don't think it was really all 10 minutes, I was just jotting down rough times to go back and pull off the clip.

NightOwl, I know no more than you do but that sounds like a troll to me. Oh, she's not a troll; she's a long-time poster there. More than 3 years, more than 15,000 posts. But I won't believe it until I see a scan or transcript. Maybe I shouldn't have posted it here until I had evidence, but I was hoping maybe someone here had a copy of the magazine.

TV Guide's bit about House/Cuddy, from the Watercooler column: Call us cynical, but did something seem a bit eh about House's big kiss? After years of sexual tension between the curmudgeonly doc and Cuddy, the smooch should have stirred something more than heebie-jeebies. Granted, Cuddy had just lost her adoptive baby, but the kiss just didn't have spark. SPOILERWord is this twosome is gonna crash and burn, and we can't say we're sorry.END SPOILER Mod Note: If it hasn't aired in the US, it's a spoiler. Please tag. Thanks, Fid

Sounds to me as though there's at least one Hameron over at TV Guide.

This is my favorite picture EVER. Omar has his Foreman look going, Jennifer is wearing that jacket she seems to wear everywhere these days, Jesse is obviously checking out Lisa's ass, RSL seems to have gotten a haircut, Lisa is staring at medical stuff, and Hugh is stabbing. Perfect. The first thing I thought when I saw that photo...that isn't Omar, it's Foreman!

Oh my. Sounds to me as though there's at least one Hameron over at TV Guide. Eh, not necessarily - I have enjoyed the House/Cuddy relationship in the past, but I didn't think that kiss had much of their back-and-forth spark. There was a great deal of care and desperation there, and their usual attraction, but it didn't feel very "romantic" to me, if that makes sense. If they every do an actual relationship with them (which, to be honest, I doubt they ever will - "resolving things conclusively" is not something this show seems to favor), this doesn't seem like the most convincing circumstance to bring it about. IMO, YMMV, and all that, of course.

There's a new clip up on fox.com called "No Guts, No Gory" about the "visceral" special effects on House. I wouldn't eat while watching it :) I didn't spot any spoilers. There are comments from Katie Jacobs and Hugh.

There are comments from Katie Jacobs and Hugh. Okay, that's just gross. Sometimes I wonder how I manage; I'm fairly squeamish. That scene with Foreman, Kutner & dead guy gets me every time.

marykir- 11-05-2008

I'm squeamish too, though the visual part doesn't bother me as much as the sound. Every time they pull out the drill, I rush for the remote to mute the sound, then cover my eyes :) Fortunately all the gory bits aren't usually compressed into the same minute!

DOB1234- 11-05-2008

Ish. I'm not usually bothered by those scenes, but one right after another gets pretty strong. Do I really want dinner tonight?

marykir- 11-07-2008

A House fan with a mysterious medical condition was on Inside Edition tonight. The story is here, though at the moment it doesn't look like they have video posted, just stills.

Boffle- 11-07-2008

It's funny that her name is Adler. That detail makes the story a bit suspect in my mind. It's a very odd problem. Wonder if those Aussies are having us on.
