We've already begun discussing these promo pics in the spoiler threads, but they belong here as well because they're not really spoilery. I think that the pic which mimics The Last Supper in composition would have better fit the third season storyline because that painting depicts Jesus' announcement to the disciples that one of them would betray him. Finding Judas, the pieces of silver?

SaphronGirl- 09-20-2007

I was just going to say that it screams "Last Supper". Except with more Hoyay.

Finding Judas, the pieces of silver? But it would have given it away if they had Wilson between Chase and Cameron clutching a tiny bag of silver!! I just commented on the spoiler discussion thread about who's who. So it would seem that it wasn't very subtle, was it! LOL

I may be alone on this, but I really despise it when---in the throes of creating good publicity---TPTB liken their star character to Jesus. The best thing they can do is try to create a somewhat original photo (in this case the Last Supper) but I find it somewhat offensive that that connection is inevitably drawn. I'm not even saying this as an outraged Christian. I'm saying it as a bored atheist that gets tired of the same parallels being drawn over and over again. Is it just me?* *I fully confess that I might be having some residual anger from way back when the X-Files used to heavy-handedly imply that Mulder = Jesus. But at least Mulder was a somewhat persecuted figure. Not sure that House qualifies.

Is it just me? I find it a bit annoying because I think it takes HUGE EGO (sorry) to compare your character to Jesus. On the other hand, it sure makes it easy to run with interpretation of what they're doing. But therein lies the question--are they only being irreverent or are they really putting some thought into these things? Is it significant or is it a coincidence that Chase = Peter and Cameron = John etc. in that photo?

I'm not even saying this as an outraged Christian. I'm saying it as a bored atheist that gets tired of the same parallels being drawn over and over again. Is it just me? No, it's not just you. Have you ever seen "Ugly Betty"? They have an episode in which a world-famous frou-frou artiste photographer decides that the theme for the Christmas fashion issue should be "Apocalypse," and he has these heroin-drugged-out models wandering zombielike through an urban nuclear-waste-type landscape. Really brings out the Christmas spirit. :? I think that some of these "fashion shoot" people are seriously out of touch with reality, get ass-brained ideas that leaves the general public going, "Huh?" instead of "Wow!"--but forge ahead anyway, and drag the poor models (actors) into some very weird scenarios. are they really putting some thought into these things? Is it significant or is it a coincidence that Chase = Peter and Cameron = John etc. in that photo? My guess: complete coincidence. I doubt the shoot designer even knows which apostle is which, and is just holding up a photo of the DaVinci work to put the characters in the same poses. Just had a terrible thought. (shudders) Could this be a weird reference to The Da Vinci Code instead of Jesus? You know--solving medical mysteries? (slaps self, then goes to wash out brain with bleach.)

My guess: complete coincidence. I doubt the shoot designer even knows which apostle is which, and is just holding up a photo of the DaVinci work to put the characters in the same poses. Then again, this is a show where they choreographed a real chess game that the viewers couldn't even really see! Just had a terrible thought. (shudders) Could this be a weird reference to The Da Vinci Code instead of Jesus? You know--solving medical mysteries? (slaps self, then goes to wash out brain with bleach.) Ugh.. then that would make Cameron Mary Magdalene. I. Think. Not. I have to go bleach my brain now too. Thanks.

Taiga- 09-20-2007

Wouldn't Cuddy be Mary Magdalene? She's the one showing off her assets. I may be alone on this, but I really despise it when---in the throes of creating good publicity---TPTB liken their star character to Jesus. You're not alone in this, I hate it too. Maybe they'll have Hugh Laurie proclaim that House is bigger than Jesus.

olivia720- 09-20-2007

Olivia Wilde made the fug site. gofugyourself.com scroll. Looks like she's got Hugh's hat on. Or someone else's, I don't know.

misere- 09-20-2007

Yeah, that's probably Hugh's fedora. Greg Grunberg was wearing a black hat as well, but it was shaped a bit like a bowler. JS was also wearing a fedora, but it was brown. Unless the party was a sea of fedoras, it's a safe bet that the hat was HL's. It's sad that I remember these details. That's a really lame fug post, though. Usually the ensembles are completely hilarious disasters. She just looks like a girl in a decent, but underwhelming dress who put on a hat for a few moments in order to be quirky.

olivia720- 09-21-2007

Hey misere, you're from wisconsin, wohoo! Go Pack!

Siriusly- 09-21-2007

I'm not offended by it at all, but I do agree about it taking huge ego. Let's just hope they're being irreverent, as usual.

zittles- 09-21-2007

Did anyone save the cast interviews that were on youtube? Because they have been taken down.

amysusanne- 09-21-2007

I never got to see teh Peter Jacobson one. :-( That's a really lame fug post, though. Usually the ensembles are completely hilarious disasters. She just looks like a girl in a decent, but underwhelming dress who put on a hat for a few moments in order to be quirky. Yeah, that was a pretty weak entry. I mean, I saw dozens of pics of her arriving at that party and out of all of them, she only had that hat on in three or four. It was clearly just a stupid "I'm gonna wear a cool hat" moment that probably barely registered to most people out there at the time.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20891958/ This article is pretty good & surprisingly long about the duckling shake up at the end of s3 & why the audience should not worry in s4. For complete spoilerphobes, its got one recent promo shot of the old cast & a brief reference to the character of one of the newbies that is new, but the rest is fine.
