God, I Really Miss Curry: House/Stacy For those who love curry...

Those hate curry can come here too, right?

All right. So, I'll admit it. I really enjoyed the Stacy arc because it explored House's character in a new way. It fleshed out some of his deeper issues and gave the viewers additional insight into his perspective on relationships. And I think it's really interesting to explore and speculate about the relationship they had. It was a major period of his life and, I think, helped shape the character we see now. Great stuff, really, if you ask me. :)

Agreed. i liked having someone from the past.

I loved the Stacy arc, and I'm not a big fan of ships for this show. You could see where House had just been treading water for five years, unwilling or unable to move on, and her return and second departure shook things up for him in a major way. Not necessarily in a 100% beneficial way, since he really spun out and hit the wall after she left. But progress is often a matter of two steps forward, one step back: I liked the way her presence forced him to review the crisis that led to their break-up (Three Stories) and, ultimately, led him to forgive her (Hunting). Some small piece of his armor broke away when he did that, and who knows--maybe that led to a tiny bit of softening that made it possible for him to keep the same three employees for three years.
I personally did not think there were too many scenes where they said "I love you, I hate you, what do we do now?" They were in love but afraid of getting hurt again, and one of them was married. A certain amount of dithering is inevitable under those circumstances.

I thought the Stacy arc was a bit overdrawn, and I think a lot of us feel a little like Wilson got less screentime while she was busy playing House's Significant Other.

Really? I thought having her on the show gave Wilson more to do. Like anyone else who has ever played Monkey in the Middle to a relationship, he had a primo role; he got to go back and forth bearing messages and insights, he got to do some meddling, and he and House had some great conversations about love and honor and so forth (or, at least, he got to lecture at length and House got to sit there looking like he was going to do what he damned well pleased no matter what Wilson said, which is always very amusing).
After Stacy left, he got to raise the issue in a couple of episodes, then the matter was dropped--and if Julie hadn't dumped him, Wilson would have suddenly had a lot less facetime.

Good point. I misspoke. I meant, less H/W subtexty scenes, because as you said, all of the House/Wilson scenes became about Stacy.

Try it this way: Imagine that Wilson uses Stacy as a stand-in for himself. So when he's encouraging House to pursue Stacy, he's really doing it in order to vicariously enjoy the results. When he's warning House away from Stacy, it's because his jealousy overrides the enjoyment when he sees them together. Likewise, House tests Wilson's feelings for him by pretending to be interested in a woman.
*amazed at how easy it is to attach an alternative interpretation to a show, even one I don't personally believe in*

I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed the Stacy arc, especially "Hunting," "The Mistake," "Failure to Communicate," and "Need to Know." These episodes showcased the romantic inner nature of House while allowing us to see him a bit cowed, confused, nasty, bewitched, and in hot pursuit of a love object.
We also saw House in an ultimately futile pursuit of an unrecoverable past and we saw him working through the anger and sense of betrayal he had been carrying as a protective shield against engagement with the world for more than five years. A meaty dramatic arc and lots of great acting all around.

I think I would have been a lot happier if the whole Stacy thing had been done and over with by Honeymoon. I didn´t care for Stacy at all. I also failed to see chemistry between SW and HL.
Now, don´t get me wrong, I like Sela Ward. Teddy was my favorite character on sisters and I was a huge Teddy-Falconer shipper(damn, that guy was hot  ) but I just didn´t like her on House. I don´t even know exactly why.

As for myself, I think Stacy deserves a comeback in future seasons. I like them better together although before she arrived and after she left, all those times I've been really a House/Cuddy shipper. I think their history made House appear something more beyond your usual cranky, acerbic guy.

I don't want to start the Stacy wars all over again at this late date so I will just say that while I liked getting the backstory, I hated Stacy as a person, dislike Ward as an actor and really lost a lot of respect for House when I found out who/what "the love of his life" was. Like even the worst of House, there is always much to love but Stacy did not work for me. Not the concept, just the details and characterization.

I love the Stacy arc and the Stacy/House relationship in theory, but *something* about the execution didn't work for me and I can't fully figure out why. It's possibly purely that I didn't see Sela Ward as Stacy in my head (nothing against her as an actress, I just didn't see it). That said, I loved Hugh/House in those episodes - they're the episodes that really touched me and helped me fall in love (more) with the character.

So, did y'all see this in Watch With Kristin?
Shene in Chantilly, Va.: Will House ever have a romantic scene? Because it seems like if he got a little real love, things could turn good for him.
I would argue that he's had plenty of romantic scenes, and I don't think I'm the only one who would argue that, so I am opening up the floor for House-related romantic arguing. In the tradition of our Smallville and Lost love debates, if you're a fan of House with either Cuddy, Cameron, Thirteen or Wilson, send in your 500-words-or-less essays in favor of the couple of your choice to tvdiva@eonline.com by July 7. (I know House will always love Wilson no matter what lady he hooks up with, but pretend it's like Highlander and there can be only one.) We'll post the best arguments from each side in an upcoming item!
I'm sure there are quite a few people here who could make strong cases for their ship! I'm cross posting this to the ship threads.
