arizona: Ahh-ahh- House: Don't! arizona: *choo* Sorry - stupid allergies. House: Claritin? arizona: Oddly allergic to it. Anyway, March has returned (welcome back!!!). House: It's September. March: *waves* Konichiwa! House: *rambles string of sounds off in Japanese* March: Okay, about the patient. Full medical history please. Arizona: Ahh- I'm okay. Anyway *sniffs*, patient has seasonal allergies, otherwise in good health. *sniffs* March: Has she been out of the country recently? Arizona: No inter-*sniff*-national travel *scratches nose* - just regional. March: Felt okay up until two days ago? Any nausea? Would she say the headache started up the same time as the fever, or is the fever new? Arizona: *sniff* House: Gimme that before you get your snot all over my office! *takes file* Oh this is easy. *takes out prescription pad* Arizona: Patient barely talked! *sneezes* House: She's felt fine up until earlier this week. *hands paper to az* Arizona: *looks at paper* I already take that. House: *takes back paper* Headache preceded fever. March: In the mean time, do a blood culture to test for meningitis. House: Sneezy here can do it. Arizona: Hey! I'll be back... no meningitis.

Okay, then. Urinalysis to check for any kind of infection.

March: Okay, then. Urinalysis to check for any kind of infection. Arizona: UA was clean. The nurses are reporting that the patient refuses to eat. House: Is the hospital food that bad? Arizona: Patient wouldn't say why. Just shook her head when presented with meals. She drank her juice, but didn't eat anything.

Hmmm. You said she has seasonal allergies, has she been taking any medicine for relief? Find out, and if she still doesn't want to share valuable information, this might be time to search the house. Woohoo!

March: Hmmm. You said she has seasonal allergies, has she been taking any medicine for relief? House: Arizona can't talk right now, she's been drugged with allergy medicine as well. March: So, what's the patient been taking? House: Claritin, just the regular dosage. March: Does this mean we can't search the house? House: It means that you still will, but take Wilson, he's not doing too much lately. Wilson: House, I don't know why you got me involved, the police chased us halfway across the city. Arizona awake yet? House: No, but at least she's not sneezing anymore. What did you find? March: Nothing. Wilson: Exactly that. Everything is perfect, normal, and the way it should be. No additional meds aside from the usual almost-full bottle of Tylenol that's about to expire. Vitamins. General grooming things. House: Anything else? Wilson: Nothing out of the norm for food, calendar is typical; had an optometrist appointment three months ago, scheduled for the dentist in two months. All typical of a typical person. House: That's boring, like this case. Wilson: Fever of still unknown origin and a headache? Sounds like she's spent a night with you. House: Touche!

Okay, have Wilson do a lumbar puncture, because I'm not doing it. Claritin makes me sleepy, who knew?

March: Claritin makes me sleepy, who knew? Arizona: Don't let House hear that (and at least it didn't send you to the ER with an allergic reaction). House: Hear what? Arizona: Nevermind. March: Okay, have Wilson do a lumbar puncture, because I'm not doing it. Arizona: I can do it... came back normal. House: Anything else? Arizona: Well, on top of the patient having the headache and refusing to eat or talk, one of the nurses observed an odd scent in the room. I haven't smelled anything... House: You've been sneezing nonstop. Arizona: This is true.

Don't let House hear that (and at least it didn't send you to the ER with an allergic reaction). YIKES! That sounds awful! :( Although in the meantime, keep that penicillin far, far away from me, or I may be joining you. *g* I doubt this is true because of the blood tests, but test for toxic shock syndrome.

Arizona: *sniffles* House: I have a gift for you. Arizona: Huh? House: Take this prescription pad, and every time you sniff, sneeze, or have any other allergy symptoms, you have to refill my Vicodin. Arizona: But???? Wilson: Arizona, *reaches for prescription pad* you do not have to refill House's Vicodin. House: Spoilsport. March: *walks in* Hi. I doubt this is true because of the blood tests, but test for toxic shock syndrome. Wilson: Okay... Test is negative. The initial lab reports did show an elevated white blood cell count. That, along with a fever and headache are indicative of some sort of infection. House: Probably up near the head. Arizona: And, she has refused to eat or talk. And has had a headache. House, you have something in your teeth. House: Do not! Wilson: Do too, have some floss.

That, along with a fever and headache are indicative of some sort of infection. Whoops, I took the first bit to indicate there was no infection. No wonder I was confused (as well as stumped.) This makes it easier. I'll do some mad google-fu in the morning, I am tired. In the mean time, do an MRI and CT scan. Since, you know, this is a fictional hospital and we can just spend money.
